Culinary combat awaits: 'The Taste Master SA' season six is back to ignite your taste buds

Culinary enthusiasts, read up because "The Taste Master SA" is set to return for its highly anticipated sixth season.
This season, we will be seeing ten contestants from all over country battle it out through weekly culinary challenges for the grand prize of R200,000 and the title of being the season six winner.
Season six is shaking things up! The previous two seasons, contestants were mostly baking; however, this season, things are heating up because contestants will have to up their game because they will be dabbling in between savoury and sweet, cooking and baking.
Making her return as well in this brand new season is renowned celebrity chef and author Zola Nene, who is a part of the show's judging panel and will be utilising her culinary skills to guide the contestants.
'I'm so excited to be guiding a new generation of culinary talent. This season is not just about skills - it's about storytelling through food. We have incredible contestants, amazing guest judges, and challenges that will truly push creativity to the edge,' Nene shared.

'The Taste Master SA' season five winner was Renuka Lallbahadur, who won a grand prize of R150 000.

The 2025 MTN SHIFT Gaming Experience aims to democratise gaming, making eSports more accessible while growing a diverse, connected gaming community across the country through their new initiative. 'So what we're doing in the space is we're trying to democratize gaming and eSports. So we deploy all of the kit, we deploy all of the equipment. We sit and run all of these national tournaments, and it costs you absolutely nothing. There's no pay to play, there are no qualifications that you need. You don't need any hardware. You don't even need connectivity. All you need to do is rock up where we are, and there's an opportunity for you to get exposed to this type of culture, play, socialise, engage, and maybe walk away with a 50,000 Rand gaming PC. The pop-up offers everything from football simulations to VR rhythm battles. A new player can play the same game as an experienced player, with all ages playing alongside each other. 'This events idea was always, how can we bridge the that sort of divide between the casual person you know, generally interested in gaming, who maybe wants to compete and win something, and then the serious players, who are genuinely very good players and deserve the opportunity to be showcased in front of, you know, audiences and hopefully the media' said African Cyber Gaming League founder Clinton O'Shea. This year, the initiative sees the return of the EAFC 25™ National Football Tournament and the debut of the MTN Beat Saber Challenge, allowing gamers to chase two national titles. The top contenders will face off in the National Finals at Canal Walk from 17 to 21 September, with R50,000 on the line in the EAFC 25™ Football Final and more prizes up for grabs in the Beat Saber showdown. Thabiso Bapela's character promises to shake things up on 'Muvhango's' last season

Bapela takes on the character of Letlotlo Maribe, a role that invites reflection on love, masculinity, and emotional truth in a society still wrestling with what those words mean. 'I'm drawn to people who are trying to figure themselves out,' Bapela says. 'They might look like they've got it all together, but beneath the surface, something deeper is always at play. That's real. That's human.' Bapela doesn't offer spoilers when it comes to his newest character, but his perspective hints at what audiences might expect. 'He is bold. He walks into a room like he belongs there. 'But you start to realise, not everything he projects is as certain as it seems. There's something unresolved beneath all that confidence.' As an actor, Bapela is no stranger to Mzansi screens he has had roles on 'Gomora', 'Giyani - Land of Blood', 'The Queen' and 'Kings of Jo'burg'. His 'Muvhango' character Letlotlo arrives at a time when audiences are craving more than surface-level characters. 'He fits into this world, but he also shakes it a little,' Bapela reflects. 'And I think that's the point.' In a country where public conversations about gender, love, and emotional accountability are becoming more urgent, Letlotlo is a timely addition. His character does not represent perfection or resolution, but rather the honest messiness of figuring it out. 'He's a man of this moment,' Bapela explains. 'Someone who challenges the idea that being strong means having it all figured out. He is honest, sometimes to a fault. But deep down, he is still looking for acceptance.' Video Player is loading. 'I know what it's like to carry expectations, to try to make sense of how you were raised and what kind of man you want to become. Letlotlo is flawed, sure, but he's searching. And I think that's deeply human.' While some viewers may be drawn to the character's charm, others may find themselves confronting their own assumptions. And that, according to Bapela, is exactly what makes the role worth playing. 'This isn't just about entertainment. If it gets people talking or thinking differently about how to show up in relationships, then the character has done his work.' The long-running soap "Muvhango" is in its final season, ending in August, and will be saying goodbye to viewers with a bang. Bapela remarks that the show's success was achieved through blending indigenous traditions, European influences, and global trends, in resonant storytelling that is made by Africans, for Africans, with excellence.
