Gold Logie winner, Division 4 and Flying Doctors star Gerard Kennedy dead at 93
A family friend of the veteran performer confirmed he passed away on Monday.

Born in Perth in 1932, Kennedy had a remarkable career in Australian media that spanned five decades.
He was a two-time Gold Logie winner, consecutively taking home the award in 1971 and 1972.
Kennedy also won two Best Actor Logies in 1972 and 1973 for his work on Division 4.
He rose to fame in the late '60s in the Channel Nine series spy drama Hunter, in which he played the leading role opposite Wendy Hughes.
Kennedy went on to appear in some of Australia's most renowned productions across his celebrated career.
His work included stints on Underbelly, A Country Practice, Blue Heelers and Neighbours.
He also starred opposite John Jarratt in the 2013 horror movie Wolf Creek 2 and Vince Colosimo in Fat Tony and Co.
His final appearance was in 2015 in two episodes of the ABC drama Glitch, after which he enjoyed a well earned retirement.
Kennedy worked with some of Australia's most esteemed performers across his incredible career, including John Wood, Lisa McCune and Andrew Daddo.
Heartbroken fans took to social media to pay tribute to Kennedy.
'Vale Gerard,' wrote his The Flying Doctors co-star Liz Burch.
'More than an actor, Gerard was a quiet force - respected by peers, loved by audiences and remembered as a true professional,' another person wrote.
'He leaves behind a legacy that defines an era of Australian storytelling and remains a benchmark for integrity and excellence in the performing arts.'
'Gerard was a great actor and a true gentleman. Rest in peace,' a third added.
Kennedy was the son of celebrated Australian actress Phyllis Ophel, who appeared with him in an episode of Division 4.
Kennedy is survived by his daughter Chrisanya.

Kim Kardashian was seen breaking down in tears in the trailer for Kanye West's explosive documentary Whose Name? nearly three years on from their divorce Kim Kardashian was seen sobbing over her ex-husband during an intense trailer for his new documentary. The rapper, 48, who is legally known as Ye, has shot thousands of trailers for the new documentary over the course of the last six years that viewers into the ups and downs of his inner world. The Jesus Walks hitmaker was married to reality superstar Kim, 44, from 22014 until 2022 and they have North, 12, Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, as well as six-year-old Psalm together. In the opening moments of the trailer, Kanye declares: "I've been off my meds for five months now," but Kim can be heard saying through tears: "Your personality was not like this a few years ago," as he storms out of a dressing room with her name on it. Heartbreaking new details have emerged about Danielle Spencer's final days following her death at age 60 on Monday. Spencer — beloved for playing the quick-witted Dee Thomas on the ABC sitcom What's Happening!! from 1976 to 1979 — died at a Richmond, Virginia hospital after a long battle with breast cancer. Her former co-star Haywood Nelson, who portrayed Dwayne Clemens Nelson, confirmed the news in an emotional statement: 'We have lost a daughter, sister, family member, 'What's Happening' cast member, veterinarian, animal rights proponent and healer, and cancer heroine. Doctors revived her and transferred her to intensive care, but her heart continued to weaken. Pelt told the outlet she died of cardiac arrest and gastric cancer. After leaving acting, Spencer fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian, working in the Los Angeles area for more than two decades. In 2013, illness forced her to move in with her mother in Virginia. Pelt added that her daughter endured years of health struggles, including lasting injuries from a serious car accident that claimed the life of her stepfather, Tim Pelt. Spencer recalled the tragedy in her 2010 memoir Through the Fire … Journal of a Child Star, writing: 'I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to my stepfather, Daddy Tim, whom I loved and who taught me show business as a young child in New York.' As Dee Thomas — the sharp-tongued sister of Raj Thomas (played by Ernest Thomas) and daughter of Mabel (Mabel King) — Spencer became a household name in the late 1970s. For the next two decades, Spencer dedicated herself to caring for animals as a veterinarian in the Los Angeles area. Her acting career wound down in the early 2000s, with her final credited role as a street vendor in a 2001 episode of Days of Our Lives. In 2014, she relocated to Richmond, Virginia, to be closer to family. That same year, Spencer faced another devastating blow when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
