In USA TODAY's The Essentials, celebrities share what fuels their lives, whether it's at home, on set, or on the road.
Ginger Zee, ABC News' chief meteorologist, is putting all of her necessities (aside from her husband, Ben Aaron, and their two sons, Adrian, 9, and Miles, 7) on your radar.
Zee, an early riser for "Good Morning America," admits "I can't imagine having a leisurely morning. But I take it, and I make 3:45 a.m. feel as leisurely as possible." And on days when Zee's not heading into the studio, she could be chasing a storm, "driving to a tornado" and "doing my makeup in the car," she says. In either case, the 44-year-old is sharing all of her Essentials, from A to Zee.

"I'm a scientist. I love data," Zee says, so she's delighted by the information she can gather from her sleep ring, a wearable health monitor and tracking device. Zee, who has been diagnosed with narcolepsy, finds it "empowering."
"It's not like it's breaking news that alcohol changes and makes your sleep worse," Zee explains. "I knew that, but processed sugar and time of day that I have things, exercise, when I do it, when I sauna or massage or mostly hydration − honestly, that's the big one that I can tell a huge difference in my sleep.
"My sleep is so critical. It's the foundation of my health, my mental health, my physical health, all of (ours)," she continues. "And we don't put enough emphasis on it."
Her morning routine: Checking in and setting an intention
"One of my favorite moments is just my wake-up and my moment of checking in with myself," Zee says.
"I know that sounds very kind of easy and simplistic, but a lot of people don't do it. A lot of people rush right into whatever it is, and then they haven't really answered, 'How are you?' or 'What am I feeling?'"
Next, Zee hops into the shower and helps set the tone of her day using her steamy shower glass as a writing board.
"I make little fists that make little footprints on (the glass) and I put both my children's names," she says. "Then I put both my handprints for my husband and I," signifying, "this is the core of who I am. Then I write an intention for the day, like you do in yoga at the beginning of a practice." Zee identifies a goal for the day and writes that on the shower as well.
Meditation: It 'should be used more and more every day'
Zee does a guided meditation on her way into work. She likes the Calm app and recommends the meditations offered by Dan Harris, a former anchor for ABC News, and acknowledges the free options available as well. Know "you don't have to commit (to) 20 minutes," Zee says. "It can be a one-minute, a five-minute, a 10-minute" meditation, she says. "Meditation is just a moment of reflection, and a moment of groundedness and preparedness, and I think should be used more and more every day."
Her on-the-road essentials: Reusable utensils and eye patches
When Zee is reporting on the road, she brings reusable water bottles and utensils, which she washes after using. While she likes to avoid waste when she can, she relies on single-use eye patches.
"Those are pretty necessary because a lot of times we've been up, we've been doing the other shows late and then we're waking up three hours, four hours later," Zee says. "So getting the de-puff is a pretty crucial essential for me."
She adds with a laugh, "I'm not perfect." But she nixed face wipes eight years ago, she says, opting for coconut oil on a washcloth instead. Earth "has cared for us for so long," she says. "Something as simple as just looking around you and (asking), 'Where could I reduce waste?' That's something that is essential to me."
The attitude required dealing with critics: 'Great empathy for these people'
Years of criticism has taught Zee not to absorb the negativity of online trolls. In March, someone left a critical comment on an Instagram video. "You're not aging well," they wrote. Zee responded to the user that it is "a privilege to be aging in any manner – thanks for your opinion though."
Derisive comments "usually says a lot about who they are and what's wrong with them," she says, adding she has "empathy for these people who are so sad or they need to get that out. And I take it that way and it's much easier to take when you start seeing that.
"My first reaction (to the comment) was, 'Thank God I get to get older,'" she adds. "There (were) a lot of years in my 20s and teens where I was like − like a lot of other people – 'I don't even know if I'm worth it.' I'm so lucky to be alive, let alone aging. Good! Your opinion is that I'm not aging well, but the point is I'm aging. And I really meant that. I meant that it is a privilege to be able to be aging."

Logan Goodspeed had never run a marathon. He's not even a runner or someone who regularly works out. But last weekend, the 32-year-old participated in his first marathon with just 24 hours' notice. On Sunday, June 1, Goodspeed participated in the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon thanks to his wife, Maisie Todd, who secretly signed him up back in April. And the entire journey, from Goodspeed learning the news to crossing the finish line, was documented on TikTok, garnering nearly 40 million collective views as of June 5. "I thought it would be funny just to say, 'Oh, I signed my husband up for a marathon with no notice.' That's kind of it. And then so many people wanted updates. I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off on Sunday trying to find him, follow him around, film it, edit it and upload," Todd told USA TODAY. In the end, Goodspeed completed the marathon, half running and half walking, in five hours and 58 minutes, finishing 5,081 out of 5,935 participants, per the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon website. And though he was a bit sore the day after the race, Goodspeed told USA TODAY on June 3 that he was surprised at just how good he felt. Despite how Goodspeed felt after the race, health experts and running coaches strongly advise against participating in a marathon with zero preparations, as short- and long-term injuries can be serious, or even fatal. Here is Goodspeed's story and journey to the finishing line. How it started So why did Todd sign up her lounging husband for a marathon without any clues? "Logan just kept saying that he could wake up and ... complete a marathon," Todd said. "Everyone was like, 'Come on, Logan, there's no way that you're going to wake up and complete a marathon with 24 hours' notice,' but he kept bringing it up and kept saying he could do it." Goodspeed isn't a fitness guru who "never runs, never swims, (never) bikes." Todd described him as "more of a lounge by the pool and read type of guy." So when Goodspeed was adamant he could take on the challenge, Todd decided to call him out on it. "It was fun to poke the bear and then eventually the bear bit me," Goodspeed said with a chuckle. In a TikTok video with 9.4 million views, the first of the series, Todd wakes Goodspeed up, with a bright camera flash, to let him know he has 24 hours to prepare for the race. "Okay, can't wait," Goodspeed says groggily in the video. As for preparations, there wasn't enough time for the recommended plan to gradually build up mileage over several weeks and months. Rather, Goodspeed needed race snacks and, more importantly, running shoes. After a trip to a nearby second-hand store, Goodspeed ended up with a pair of Adidas Climacool Bounce sneakers, which Adidas markets as "casual running or light workouts." "For more intense training or long-distance running, you might want to consider a shoe with a more responsive midsole," the Adidas website states about its Bounce line. Though the shoes may not have been designed for marathon running, Goodspeed said they were comfortable and did the job. Finishing with time to spare The goal, Goodspeed said, was to complete a full marathon, which is 26.2 miles, in seven hours or less. The key was to complete the marathon, not necessarily run the entire race. At five hours and 58 minutes, Goodspeed said he ran about half the marathon: 13.1 miles. Is it safe to run a marathon with no prep? In addition to the countless comments on TikTok asking for updates, there were also plenty that advised Goodspeed from participating in the race with zero training. Several warned about the risk of rhabdomyolysis, an injury that occurs when muscles break down and release the protein myoglobin in the blood, per the Cleveland Clinic. Rhabdomyolysis can be fatal. Goodspeed said he avoided these comments ahead of the race and knew if he started to experience pain, he would tap out. Fortunately, he didn't, aside from typical soreness. Nonetheless, health experts and running coaches don't recommend tackling a marathon with no training. In 2023, running coach Helen Gaunt told Runner's World that the body is not built to go from zero to 26.2 miles without training. The length of the marathon alone can put stress on various organs, including the heart and lungs. Gaunt advised that beginners start with a 16-week training program to gradually increase mileage. More marathons in the future? Despite the overall success of his first marathon, Goodspeed said he doesn't have plans to sign up, or be signed up, for any more marathons anytime soon. If he were to run a marathon again, Goodspeed said he'd enjoy doing so with a group of friends that could make the race more fun, rather than participating solo. A group of seven women who live in one Fort Lauderdale mansion are pulling in about $250 million a year by posting on OnlyFans and making lifestyle videos, to the tune of a collective 90 million people watching across social media platforms. They call themselves 'bops' and their content creation house the 'Bop House.' 'In a May 14 TikTok that's since racked up 4 million views, the house's residents dance in barely-there bodycon dresses in front of brightly lit signs spelling out 'BOPS,'' USA TODAY reported this week. 'They fly on private jets to the Super Bowl, own Porsches and Lamborghinis and rack up $4,000 dinner bills on a night out.' Here's what a 'bop' is, who lives in the Bop House and how much it costs to rent the waterfront home. Is it problematic? Online, young female OnlyFans stars make their lives look aspirational. A 'bop' is 'a term for a person who has had many sexual partners, or who presents themself online in a way that is thought of as immodest (such as posting pictures or video with revealing clothing),' according to Merriam-Webster's slang definition of the word. To some social media users, 'bop' also means 'baddie on point,' and to many TikTok users and creators, the slang word is nearly synonymous with 'sex worker.' The Bop House is 'your new favorite girls only influencer house,' according to the Bop House official TikTok account. The account is currently made up of seven women (at one point, eight women) who are all OnlyFans content creators and social media influencers. While their OnlyFans content is explicit and pornographic, their other social media accounts, like their shared TikTok account, focus on their general lifestyle and all the perks that come with making millions online. They've posted house tours of their ritzy Fort Lauderdale waterfront rental, participate in trending TikTok sounds and challenges and clear up drama surrounding their livelihoods and living situation. 'The name 'Bop House' nods to the Gen Z slang term 'bop,' meaning a woman who has had many sexual partners,' USA TODAY reported. 'Many of their videos poke fun at the term, and they respond to commenters saying they should 'get a real job.'' Alina Rose, one of the Bop House members, told USA TODAY that her critics partly inspired her to move into a house with other content creators. 'They're going to call us bops no matter what,' she told USA TODAY. So she decided to lean into it with like-minded women. And the venture has been profitable, helping the women find financial freedom. But it also comes with drawbacks, like the danger of glamorizing the adult content creating lifestyle to young girls who may be watching their videos. Sophie Rain, the 20-year-old who co-founded the Bop House in December 2024, told USA TODAY that she grew up in a big family that relied on food stamps and is now their primary breadwinner, earning $43 million in her first year. 'She paid off her parents' mortgage and $15,000 in property taxes and gifted her older brother his dream car, a BMW M2, with her salary,' USA TODAY reported. 'Rain considers herself a feminist, and hopes the Bop House will help de-stigmatize adult entertainment creators. Still, every now and then, she hesitates to press 'post' knowing how young girls might interpret her videos.' The residents of the Bop House have come and gone, at one point having eight members and now having seven. Sophie Rain founded the house with Aishah Sofey. Camilla Araujo, Alina Rose, Summer Iris, Ava Reyes and Julia Filippo also currently live in the house. They use the high-end home as the backdrop to their OnlyFans and social media content. The Bop House has changed locations a few times, due to the address being leaked and endangering the women that live there. One of the women's most recent houses is in an Intracoastal neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. According to the Broward County Property Appraiser, the Fort Lauderdale home is worth around $6 million. The women have also recently lived in a multi-million dollar home overlooking Biscayne Bay in Miami. Whichever home they're in now, it has a steep rent, at $75,000 a month – not as huge a sum as it seems when split between seven women who each make a few million a year. The content creators told USA TODAY that they make around $250 million a year collectively. This wasn't Dunne's first run with Sports Illustrated. She was one of four cover girls for the magazine's recent swimsuit issue. She's been working with Sports Illustrated since 2023. She even did her photoshoot with the company this year while nursing a patella fracture that kept her from participating on the floor during LSU's senior night festivities. Following her viral moment, Dunne posted that she was dared to do the splits. During an interview with USA TODAY's Meghan Hall, though, Dunne admitted she had not been dared. "It was just a joke," Dunne said. She added that it was a "spur-of-the-moment decision." She consulted with her sister on the matter beforehand, but it was not something she did during the walkthrough, and it was not something that the rest of the models or event organizers expected. How did Livvy Dunne like doing the show? Dunne said it was "the most fun runway show ever." Of course, Dunne is maybe a bit biased — this was the only one she'd ever been to. "I had a blast," Dunne said. "They had me open the show, which I have never even walked on a runway. So, it was pretty surreal to open the Sports Illustrated runway show."
