Beyonce's mom Tina Knowles reveals whole family laughed at video of 'trans woman' before breast cancer surgery
Beyoncé's mom Tina Knowles shared that she and her superstar family watched a video by a trans social media star for a moment of levity before her breast cancer surgery.
Tina, 71, revealed her secret breast cancer battle during an interview with CBS Mornings' Gayle King on Monday and explained how her family supporter her throughout the terrifying ordeal.
'I was nervous and so they started just joking with me... Solange pulls out this video of a trans woman and she's saying, "I'm very demure," and we're just laughing at it...,' Knowles said, referring to trans social media sensation Jools Lebron, who is known for the viral phrase 'very mindful, very demure.'
Tina continued: 'And so Solange is showing me this and we just look at it right before the surgery so I start laughing and get out of my head.'
The famous mom added that Beyoncé and her younger sister Solange then sang a Destiny's Child song called Walk with Me.
'It's about God walking with you into something and protecting you,' Tina said through tears. 'And I went in there feeling just like God has got me.'
Tina said she was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer after doctors discovered two tumors during a mammogram appointment.
The Chicago-based content creator became a sensation overnight in early August when she posted a video of herself while showing her followers how they should present themselves in an office setting
The fashion designer added that although she's recovered from the cancer, she suffered significant hurdles along the way.
She told CBS Mornings she contracted a post-surgical infection so bad that she almost bailed on Glamour's 2024 Women of the Year event in October.
Tina said Beyoncé in particular urged her to rest rather than attend the event - but she pushed through because it was important to her.
'A lot of my life, I just refused to be recognized. I would never take an award. I would never want the attention to me … and this was my saying, "I deserve this,"' she said.
Tina also revealed that her cancer might have been caught sooner if she hadn't delayed her mammogram appointment.
Doctors told her that if she maintained regular screenings, which are scheduled every one to two years for women over the age of 55, the cancer may have been caught at Stage 0 instead of Stage 1.
Stage 0 is when the cancer has not spread beyond the breast tissue, per the American Cancer Society.
Tina was seen with Beyoncé, her husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy at Mufasa: The Lion King premiere in Los Angeles last December.
The family appeared to be in the holiday spirit at the glitzy event after Jay-Z had just hit back against claims he gang-raped a 13-year-old girl with Diddy.
Tina also became embroiled in the controversy after she appeared to like an Instagram post reporting the accusations against her son-in-law.
She told fans she was 'hacked' and did not like the post of her own accord.
'I was Hacked! As you all know I do not play about my family. So if you see something uncharacteristic of me just know it is not me' she wrote on her own Instagram.
Jay-Z angrily denied the attack took place and the lawsuit against him was dismissed in February 2025.
He is now suing the woman who made the allegations about him for defamation.

Love Island announce two new boys as heartbroken star sent home in huge twist
Love Island have announced two new singletons for this series. The new season kicked off on Monday, but this year's singles haven't had the chance to get comfortable in their couples, as ITV producers quickly started sending in bombshells left, right, and centre. The girls were the first to come under fire as American pool party waitress Antonia Laites entered the villa and immediately stole Shakira's man. This left her vulnerable to being dumped from the island, so she soon had to start chatting up the other girls' partners in a last-ditch attempt to save herself before the next firepit ceremony. However, now it is the men on the show who have had the pressure put on them as two new bombshells have entered the villa and are ready to crack on with their girls, following the devastating dumping of Sophie Lee. Here is what we know about the new lads... Shea, 25, from Bristol, said he is looking for someone bubbly, who's got "that spark". Unlike some of the other boys in the villa, this one is not looking to mess around. Shea wants to find a good girl with a "nice personality" to get serious with. It's also very important to him that she will be understanding of the important role his young son plays in his life. The scaffolder, who admits he spends most mornings in the gym, added: "I am ready again to look for something more serious. I'm 25 now, so I want to be settling down and have someone always by my side." Although Shea is looking for a wifey, his single days are not far behind him. When asked what he would be the boss of, he didn't hesitate to say "pulling girls". The cheeky gym buff added: "I'm confident to go up and introduce myself and say, 'You look beautiful', to get a conversation flowing." Essex-based content creator Remell, 24, wants to meet someone who is "bubbly, confident, ambitious and fun". He admitted he easily gets bored of being with the same person, so girls on the island better look out, because his head might be quickly turned. Remell joked that a film based on his love life up until now would be called "Once a Player, Not Always a Player", adding: "I'm the CEO of flirting. Sometimes it's just unintentional." The self improvement guru also opened up about his high standards, saying he needs a woman who can "stimulate him mentally" and his biggest ick is someone with no ambition or goals. He shared: "If I can't talk to a woman and pick her brain, have some discussion, that's a huge turn off for me as where are we going to be going?" The two new boys were introduced to the villa moments after the other Islanders were left devastated by Sophie's exit. The motivational speaker from Manchester was axed from the show after Shakira decided to steal her man in order to remain in the villa, so the bombshells have got some cheering up to do. .

Beyoncé giving away free concert tickets to London shows after 'poor sales'
Beyoncé fans might be flocking to watch her perform in London this week, however free tickets are now being 'given away' to fill seats. Last week the US superstar, 43, kicked off the UK leg of her Cowboy Cartertour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 5, the first of six shows she's playing in the capital. The concerts are her first in the UK since her Renaissance World Tour in 2023, however she's failed to sell out any of them this time around. But two shows in, it's now been reported that organisers are so desperate to fill empty seats, tickets are being handed out. Tickets for her shows began at around £100, with some VIP tickets being sold for as much as £950. Although thousands of fans did snap them up, with the stadium having a capacity of 60,000, there are still hundreds of tickets in 75 sections left for her remaining four shows. The Sun has now reported unsold tickets have been distributed to charities, to also avoid the stadium looking empty. 'Several low-income families in the capital have been offered tickets by food banks, which help feed the needy,' it reported. It comes after some fans were left furious at the amounts they paid for tickets, only for prices to later be slashed. During the presale, some had been priced at £620, but were then made available for £141.60. A Ticketmaster spokesperson told The Sun: 'Since tickets typically go on sale at least three to six months before the event, organisers may review prices at key points leading up to the show.' Just a few days before the tour began, ticketholders were also left 'annoyed' at a last-minute change of plan. Posting on X, one fan shared a notification they got from the Ticketmaster just four days before the first Cowboy Carter concert in California, informing them their seat had changed. 'Due to changes in stage production, your original seats for the Cowboy Carter tour will now have an obstructed view. 'The event organised has accommodated you with new seats in a comparable location on the floor. 'Your new tickets are in your Ticketmaster account now; your original tickets are no longer valid for entry.' In 2018 tickets for Beyoncé's joint tour with her husband Jay-Z were given away in a car park outside Hampden Park in Glasgow after they also struggled to sell out. Revealing the giveaway on Twitter, one fan told others to rush down to the venue you get a ticket: 'If you are near Hampden Park go to the main parking lot they are giving out free tickets for the Beyoncé & Jay Z concert because of empty seats.' Other fans also claimed they were being given free upgrades to VIP. Despite Cowboy Carter not selling out in London, Beyoncé's 40-song set has been praised by fans. More Trending In Metro's review, the singer was praised for a 'presenting a version of the American South not as it is, but as it could be: inclusive, textured, full of contradiction and pride, defiant of unjust power structures, and rooted in the stories of people who refused to disappear – no matter how hard the world tried to erase them.' 'It was a goose-bump-inducing pleasure to watch the icon strut the length of the stage and flip her hair, so when she joined in the choreography, it felt like staggering generosity from a star with nothing left to prove,' it also read. After starting in Inglewood, California, in April, the Cowboy Carter tour is scheduled to end on July 26, in Paradise, Nevada. Metro has contacted Ticketmaster and representatives for Beyoncé for comment. Got a story?
