Chucky actor Ed Gale dead at 61

Ed Gale, the actor who performed as the killer doll Chucky in the Child's Play films, has died. He was 61.
He was also known for playing the lead character in the 1986 Marvel superhero comedy, Howard the Duck.
His death was announced in a post on Facebook by his niece Kayse Gale, who wrote: 'It is with a heavy heart and a surprisingly light coffin (see what I did there?) that we announce the sudden passing of our uncle, Ed Gale.
'Ed Gale has taken his final bow and is now headlining in the afterlife. Ed hitched a ride to California when he was twenty years old, with $41 and a dream, and he never looked back.
'He lit up the silver screens in cult classic films like Howard the Duck and Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town, earning himself some serious street cred at every con he attended. Which he never stopped bragging about. Ever.
'Over the course of his career he appeared in over 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials. With this wide ranging body of work, he leaves behind legacy full of questionable lighting and amazing one-liners.
'Ed's favorite role was that of the 'fun uncle.' His love language was sharing his love of the entertainment industry and the magic of Hollywood with his nieces.
'Ed loved 7 eleven hotdogs with disgusting amounts of ketchup. He enjoyed reminiscing about his glory days DJing at the Plainwell roller rink. He hated Bill Maher for no good reason. He delighted in the slow build up of telling a good story, and cheating at cribbage. He had one hell of a laugh, and he will be missed.'
Edward Gale was born with dwarfism on August 23, 1963 in Plainwell, Michigan. He attended Plainwell High School.
He made his film debut in Howard the Duck, physically portraying the lead character inside a suit while Chip Zien provided the voice.
In 1988 he performed a similar role for Chucky in slasher movie Child's Play, reprising the role for 1990's Child's Play 2 and 1998's Bride of Chucky.
Other notable roles included playing the dinosaur Tasha in the 1991 television series Land of the Lost, and playing Matthew McConaughey and Gary Oldman's uncle in the 2003 comedy Tiptoes.
His television appearances also included roles in Baywatch, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Just Shoot Me! and My Name is Earl.

ANDOR Creator Tony Gilroy Had to Fight Disney For Season 2 Budget After Being Told "Streaming is Dead" — GeekTyrant

Andor is one of this shows that raised the bar for the Star Wars franchise. But, getting to that second season? That didn't come easy. Tony Gilroy, the creator of Andor and the mind behind Rogue One , opened up at the ATX Television Festival about the uphill battle he faced securing proper funding for Season 2 of the critically acclaimed series. While you'd think Disney would be all-in after Season 1's success, Gilroy revealed a much grimmer outlook from the studio: "I mean, [for] Disney this is $650 million. For 24 episodes, I never took a note. We said 'F*ck the Empire' in the first season, and they said, 'Can you please not do that?' … In season 2, they said, 'Streaming is dead, we don't have the money we had before,' so we fought hard about money, but they never cleaned anything up. That [freedom] comes with responsibilities." 'Streaming is dead,' according to what Gilroy was told during Season 2's production. Kind of a surprise, considering this is Disney we're talking about, owners of Disney+, the home of Andor, The Mandalorian , and every Marvel show. But, this internal sentiment makes a bit more sense when you look at the recent slowdown in Disney's streaming content pipeline. Marvel shows have slowed down. Star Wars shows are fewer and farther between. The emphasis, for now, seems to be shifting, toward theatrical releases. I'm glad to hear that Gilroy 'fought hard' for the budget and to preserve the scope and freedom of the show. It was a massive creative swing that kept its integrity intact despite the studio's shifting priorities. Even with all the struggles behind the scenes, Andor remains the most critically lauded live-action Star Wars project to date. It was an impressive show that hit a nerve with fans, elevating the franchise in a way no other Star Wars project has. As for what's next : The Mandalorian & Grogu is headed to the big screen with Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver. Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling are confirmed to be teaming on the Starfighter movie. Ahsoka 's second season is underway for a 2026 release, and a Darth Maul series is also coming.

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Could Reportedly See Spidey and The Punisher Fight Hulk — GeekTyrant

Well, this one's wild, but just plausible enough to keep us on edge. There's a new rumor making the rounds that Spider-Man: Brand New Day might see Tom Holland's Peter Parker teaming up with Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle aka the Punisher, to take on none other than Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. But not the yoga-doing, taco-sharing version of Hulk we've seen lately. No, this rumor points to the return of a full-on rage monster. Smash first, maybe think later. This all comes from scooper Jeff Sneider, who recently chatted about it with John Rocha on The Hot Mic podcast. Rocha, for his part, mentioned this very scenario back in January, saying he heard from a 'very connected' source in the industry that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would be 'ground-based' and would have Peter teaming up with the Punisher to fight a newly savage Hulk. Rocha explained: 'So it's gonna be ground-based. But he's going to fight Hulk because Marvel wants to move away from the intelligent Hulk that we saw in the Avengers movies and make him much more of the brutish Hulk, the violent Hulk, the rage Hulk.' There's no denying that fans have been divided on Professor Hulk. While some appreciated the evolution of the character, others missed the raw chaos and destruction that defined Hulk's earlier appearances. Rocha acknowledged that, syaing: 'A lot of people have been complaining about the more intelligent and calmer version of the character.' Of course, the Marvel machine is constantly shifting gears. Rocha also admitted that this concept may no longer be locked in: 'I don't know if that's what Tom Holland was reading and jumping around with Zendaya in his room… because we know it's going back into rewrites.. but that was the plan they told me about a couple of weeks ago.' So, take this with a grain. Given the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again and a 2026 special presentation featuring Bernthal's Punisher, Marvel's clearly not done with Frank Castle. Whether that means he's showing up to help Spidey rein in the Hulk remains to be seen, but I sure do hope it's true! Still, a street-level battle with Hulk, Spider-Man, and Punisher? That's the kind of chaotic escalation fans could get behind!

Tim Miller Opens Up About The X-MEN Horror Movie He Almost Made: 'Home Alone Meets Alien' — GeekTyrant

While Marvel fans eagerly await the full-fledged return of the X-Men in the MCU, there's always a lingering curiosity about the mutant stories that never made it to screen. One of those lost gems was a Kitty Pryde horror movie pitched by Deadpool director Tim Miller, something he described as 'Home Alone meets Alien.' In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Miller revealed that he had once been developing an X-Men film based on Uncanny X-Men #143 by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. The story centers on a young Kitty Pryde left alone in the X-Mansion during the holidays. As the rest of the team takes a break, a demonic N'Garai creature infiltrates the house, leaving Kitty to face off against it in a terrifying solo survival scenario. No backup. No Wolverine. Just Kitty and a whole lot of monster-induced chaos. Miller talked about the project, calling Marvel's mutants their 'secret weapon,' and shared how passionate he was about the opportunity: 'The X-Men are my favorite characters, and I wrote to Kevin Feige like, 'If there was anything you'd ever let me do in the Marvel universe, the X-Men would be it.'' At one point, the project was actually taking shape. Miller was set to direct, and the script came from comic book legend Brian Michael Bendis. This was around 2018, right when Kitty was enjoying a run as Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy comics written by Bendis himself. But timing is everything, and this project was swept away during the Fox-Disney merger, joining the ranks of never-made X-projects like Gambit , Multiple Man , and a Fantastic Four crossover. While Fox's New Mutants flirted with horror, Miller's take would've been something totally different… intimate, suspenseful, and creature-focused. A mutant monster movie set entirely inside the X-Mansion? It's hard not to imagine what could've been. Still, Miller isn't dwelling in regret. He's grateful for the wild ride he's already had: 'I didn't expect to have my own studio, or to do Terminator: Dark Fate. Being able to do Love Death + Robots is probably my achievement I'm most proud of. I'm old, but I'm not done yet.' I love the idea of Kitty vs. Demon in a Haunted Mansion! That sounds like a fun flick and the kind of genre twist superhero movies still need.
