Tenders for development of Vijayawada railway station will be called within 15 days, says MP
Since Vijayawada is the home of many labourers, the focus has been on their welfare, and it is in this direction that an amount of about ₹840 crore set aside under the AMRUT Bharat Station Scheme for the development of the Vijayawada railway station, said MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni).
Addressing the media at NTR Bhavan in Vijayawada on Tuesday, to mark completion of one year as the MP, Mr. Sivanath recalled the developmental works taken up in the past one year and also announced new projects. 'I am happy to note that I have been successful in getting funds sanctioned for a few projects,' he said.
Tenders for the development of Vijayawada railway station would be called within 15 days. Under the same scheme, he said Gunadala and Rayanapadu railway stations would also be developed. Regarding air connectivity, the MP said soon, there will be flights from Vijayawada to Varanasi, Goa, Pune, Ahmedabad and Cochin.
Talking about developments in the National Highways sector, the MP said six-laning of the Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway (NH-65) is being done till Gollapudi. To decongest the city and ensure free flow of vehicles, an amount of ₹100 crore has been sanctioned for constructing alternative routes to reach Auto Nagar, Asia's second largest automobile hub, from Poranki and Nidamanuru, he said, adding that he will also ensure an 24-hour entry for truck drives in Auto Nagar.
Amenities for devotees
In the West Assembly constituency, the MP said the focus is on improving amenities for devotees visiting the Durga Malleswara Swamywarla Devasthanam. Plans of constructing 11-storey parking structure and elevated queue lines are afoot, the MP told the mediapersons. He added that preparations for Krishna Pushakaralu have begun already.
Automobile Skill Development Centre
An Automobile Skill Development Centre, which is being touted as the solution to all the problems faced by skilled workers in Auto Nagar today, will be a reality in three months, the MP announced. The MP concluded that a Detailed Project Report is being readied for making Vijayawada a Greater Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

Passengers at Navi Mumbai International Airport to pay up to ₹1,225 as UDF
Regulator AERA has allowed levying of a User Development Fee of up to ₹1,225 at the upcoming Navi Mumbai airport on an ad-hoc basis. The airport is being developed by the Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL). Passengers flying out from the airport, which is to be operational later this year, will have to shell out ₹620 for domestic flights and ₹1,225 for international flights as the User Development Fee (UDF). For disembarking passengers, the UDF will be ₹270 and ₹525 for domestic and overseas flights, according to AERA's 42-page order. The UDF charges have been approved on an ad-hoc basis for the 2025-26 financial year. The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) said it has been decided to allow levying ad-hoc UDF as an interim measure till March 31, 2026, or till final determination of regular tariff, whichever is earlier. "The revenue to be collected by NMIAL on an ad-hoc basis in the interim period shall be accounted for by the authority during the regular tariff determination exercise of NMIA," the order said.
