MyGOV Malaysia Mobile App Set To Transform Public Service Delivery

PUTRAJAYA, June 29 (Bernama) -- MyGOV Malaysia, the country's single digital gateway for public services, set to launch next month, is expected to revolutionise how citizens interact with government agencies and departments, making transactions easier, faster and more efficient.
The mobile application integrates various public services, offering seamless access for the public, civil servants and businesses.
Through the application, users will be able to check, submit applications and receive notifications for services involving government agencies such as summons checks, welfare aid and assistance for government retirees.
Senior lecturer in Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA Seremban Campus, Associate Professor Dr Siti Salwa Salleh, said the introduction of MyGOV Malaysia is the right move to drive the government's digital transformation efforts towards more efficient service delivery.
'This is an improvement in public access, as people can obtain information and services regardless of time and location,' she told Bernama.
She said the application will ease dealings with government agencies by eliminating the need to visit physical counters, thereby reducing bureaucracy.
However, she stressed the need to enhance communication and user understanding of the application to ensure its full potential is realised.
Commenting on data privacy concerns, Siti Salwa said the government must clearly explain how user data is collected, stored and protected.

Tiong, who is on a working visit to Bangkok from June 27 to July 3, officiated at the festival, aiming to enhance bilateral tourism cooperation and lay the foundation for stronger ties ahead of VM2026. He emphasised that the festival plays a significant role in the lead-up to next year's Visit Malaysia, aiming to boost visibility and strengthen Malaysia's image as a welcoming and diverse travel destination. 'This initiative directly contributes to our 2025 tourism targets of achieving 43 million international tourist arrivals and generating RM283.8 billion in tourism receipts for the country,' he said. Tiong noted that the festival is part of Tourism Malaysia's ongoing efforts to promote VM2026, particularly by encouraging Thai tourists to explore Malaysia's unique attractions.

Expanded SST will not affect most parents with kids at private kindergartens
KUALA LANGAT: The expansion of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) will not have a significant impact on parents who send their children to private nurseries, kindergartens or preschools, says Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. The Women, Family and Community Development Minister said this was because the service tax would only apply to schools imposing annual tuition fees exceeding RM60,000 per student. "The public need not worry as it is understood that most private institutions currently do not charge fees that reach the RM60,000 threshold," she told reporters after the Anjung Sinar 2025 Programme appreciation ceremony here on Sunday (June 29). Nancy also reminded entrepreneurs not to capitalise on efforts to strengthen the country's fiscal position and broaden the tax base in ways that would burden parents. "We hope they (business operators) will act honestly to help parents so that they are able to work. Operators must also remember that people need their services, so do not charge excessively," she said. The 6% service tax, which will be imposed from July 1 on educational services including private preschools and schools, will not apply to Malaysian citizens with disabilities. At the programme, Nancy presented awards to five outstanding icons of the Anjung Sinar Programme by Yayasan Kebajikan Negara, representing the education, leadership, community, career and volunteer categories. The icons were selected based on their achievements and significant contributions over the three years they were mentored and guided through the comprehensive approach offered under the Anjung Sinar Programme, which began in 2023. – Bernama

Prabowo: Indonesia can achieve energy self-sufficiency in six years

He made the statement during a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Integrated Electric Vehicle Battery Industry Ecosystem project in Karawang, West Java, on Sunday. "I have been informed by experts that our nation truly has the ability to achieve energy self-sufficiency, and based on my own calculations, it will not take long. In five years, six years at the latest, we can be energy self-sufficient,' he said. The head of state explained that one of the key pillars of national energy independence is the utilisation of solar power. President Prabowo stated that the battery technology to be produced in Karawang will play a vital role in efficiently storing and distributing solar energy. "Solar power's key lies in battery technology, and today we are witnessing that development,' he remarked. According to the report he received, the current capacity generated at the facility stands at 15 gigawatts. However, to achieve full energy independence, Indonesia will need around 100 gigawatts. "This means we need to multiply projects like this, and I believe our nation is capable of doing so,' Prabowo stated. The electric vehicle battery industry project is a collaboration between the state-owned mining company ANTAM, the Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC), and a consortium of CATL, Brunp, and Lygend (CBL). The project covers upstream to downstream processing and consists of six sub-projects, five of which are located in East Halmahera, North Maluku, and one in Karawang. As part of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), the project investment totals US$5.9 billion and covers an area of 3,023 hectares.
