HKHM 2025: PENTARAMA MERDEKA@KLIA Fills KLIA Terminal 1 With Vibrant Patriotic Spirit

By Mohd Ashraf Syafiq Mazlan SEPANG, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Patriotic and traditional tunes, accompanied by captivating cultural performances, filled Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 today during the PENTARAMA MERDEKA@KLIA programme organised by the Information Department (JAPEN). The programme, held in collaboration with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), was organised in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 (HKHM 2025), with a focus on showcasing patriotism through casual performances. PENTARAMA MERDEKA@KLIA also featured cultural dance performances and an interactive session with visitors, including a patriotism-themed quiz. JAPEN director-general Julina Johan said hosting the programme at the country's main gateway allowed both locals and foreign visitors to experience Malaysian culture and witness the spirit of patriotism among its people. 'The approach this time is quite different. We are not only presenting patriotic songs but also highlighting Malaysia's cultural elements. 'We have (traditional) songs from Pahang, Perak and Perlis…we are giving them a new lease of life as we want to introduce them to visitors at KLIA Terminal 1,' she told Bernama here today. Also present were KLIA Terminal 1 operations general manager Abdul Hasman Abdul Muhimim and JAPEN Communications and Community Development Service Division director Muhammad Najmi Mustapha. Julina said PENTARAMA MERDEKA@KLIA also served as a platform to showcase Malaysia's identity and national spirit to the world.

MyGOV Malaysia Mobile App Set To Transform Public Service Delivery

By Mohd Ashraf Syafiq Mazlan PUTRAJAYA, June 29 (Bernama) -- MyGOV Malaysia, the country's single digital gateway for public services, set to launch next month, is expected to revolutionise how citizens interact with government agencies and departments, making transactions easier, faster and more efficient. The mobile application integrates various public services, offering seamless access for the public, civil servants and businesses. Through the application, users will be able to check, submit applications and receive notifications for services involving government agencies such as summons checks, welfare aid and assistance for government retirees. Senior lecturer in Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA Seremban Campus, Associate Professor Dr Siti Salwa Salleh, said the introduction of MyGOV Malaysia is the right move to drive the government's digital transformation efforts towards more efficient service delivery. 'This is an improvement in public access, as people can obtain information and services regardless of time and location,' she told Bernama. She said the application will ease dealings with government agencies by eliminating the need to visit physical counters, thereby reducing bureaucracy. However, she stressed the need to enhance communication and user understanding of the application to ensure its full potential is realised. Commenting on data privacy concerns, Siti Salwa said the government must clearly explain how user data is collected, stored and protected.

AKPS Boosts Readiness At Entry Points Ahead Of ASEAN Summit

By Mohd Ashraf Syafiq Mazlan PUTRAJAYA, May 19 (Bernama) -- The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) is stepping up readiness at all major entry points into the country ahead of the 46th ASEAN Summit next week to ensure smooth arrival procedures for delegates and maintain national security. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2 and the Bunga Raya Complex in Sepang are among the entry points expecting the arrival of heads of state and foreign delegates for the summit. Acting AKPS director-general Datuk Sazali Mohamad said the agency is implementing a series of strategic measures to ensure a smooth process for all foreign delegates entering the country. He said designated protocol lanes will be provided in collaboration with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to expedite clearance for delegates, sparing them from having to queue in normal lanes, particularly at main entry points such as KLIA. 'AKPS is also strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders involved in the ASEAN Summit, including the Foreign Ministry, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), MAHB and AKPS's core agencies – the Immigration Department and the Ministry of Health,' he told Bernama. He added that such collaboration is crucial in enabling AKPS to conduct preliminary checks and assessments before delegates arrive at the country's entry points. Sazali said the extension of Autogate usage to passport holders from ASEAN member states for international departures will also help expedite immigration clearance. 'In addition, inspections are being enhanced through the provision of dedicated VVIP counters at the Bunga Raya Complex and a special VIP Lounge to welcome dignitaries,' he said.
