Health Minister Ma Subramanian participates in Nadapom Nalam Peruvom Scheme
NAMAKKAL: 'We have not received any guidelines from the Union government regarding new Covid variants but we are prepared as per orders received from the CM and have about 95,000 beds ready,' said Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma Subramanian in Namakkal on Saturday.
The minister also took part in the Nadapom Nalam Peruvom (Health Walk) Scheme at Namakkal Government Boys Higher Secondary School.
Later, he inaugurated five buildings, including additional buildings for PHCs, constructed at a cost of Rs 2.96 crore in Mudalaipatti. The minister laid the foundation stone for over 13 new buildings there.
The minister inspected the Government Headquarters Hospital in Rasipuram, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 53.39 crore.
Following the inspection in Rasipuram, he participated in a press meeting where he commented on new Covid variants. 'After the AIADMK regime, we had the capacity to provide 200 MT of oxygen. Now, we are capable of providing 2,000 MT of oxygen, and with storage, we can provide up to 3,000 MT of oxygen,' he added.

Andhra Pradesh to get four new medical colleges under PPP model, says Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav
VIJAYAWADA: Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav on Saturday announced that Andhra Pradesh will soon have four new medical colleges under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model starting this academic year. Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada to mark the NDA government's first year in office, the health minister outlined major health sector achievements, pointed to systemic failures of the previous regime, and laid out a future vision to transform public healthcare in the State. 'The rationale behind the establishment of 10 new medical colleges under the PPP mode is purely a consequence of the previous government's legacy,' Satya Kumar Yadav said, adding that the State government is now prepared to implement reforms with accountability and transparency. Highlighting performance-based achievements, the minister said Andhra Pradesh received a Rs 100 crore performance incentive under the National Health Mission (NHM) a first for the State. Under the Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) initiative, the State began construction of 3,318 new buildings with Rs 1,065 crore in central assistance in just one year, compared to 6,000 structures completed in five years earlier.

Centre asks Odisha to ramp up Covid-19 measures as cases rise
BHUBANESWAR: In view of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, the Centre has asked the Odisha government to ramp up measures and control the spread of the virus. The state reported seven new cases in last 24 hours, taking tally to 45 on Saturday. The Health and Family Welfare department has been directed to ensure Covid testing of all cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) coming to hospital and at least five per cent of influenza like illness (ILI) cases as per the revised guideline. 'All positive SARI samples will be sent for whole genome sequencing through the ICMR virus research and diagnostic laboratory network. Individuals with acute respiratory illness should self-monitor and seek medical care if symptoms worsen,' the guideline stated.
