Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis Offer Emotional Tributes as And Just Like That Reveals End Date
And Just Like That… is ending, and its stars are saying goodbye. Sarah Jessica Parker, who reprises her role as Carrie Bradshaw on HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series, paid tribute to her longtime character in an Instagram post on Friday, following the surprising news that And Just Like That will end with the current third season. More from TVLine And Just Like That... Shocker: Sex and the City Revival to End With Season 3 at HBO Max And Just Like That: Carrie Gets Closer to Duncan - But Is It Too Close? Save the Dates: Luther and UK Office Visit HBO Max, a Flintstones Anniversary and More 'Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years,' Parker wrote. 'I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all.' She added that she and showrunner Michael Patrick King 'together recognized, as we have in the past, this chapter complete.' And Just Like That was 'all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us,' she concluded. 'I hope you love these final two episodes as much as we all do.' Kristin Davis, who co-stars on AJLT in her Sex and the City role as Carrie's friend Charlotte, offered her own thoughts on Instagram: 'I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever.' King announced earlier on Friday that And Just Like That is ending, with the series finale set for Aug. 14: 'And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That… Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12.' He explained that 'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.' Best of TVLine 'Missing' Shows, Found! ‘And just Like That ...' to end after three uneven seasons
And just like that, it was over. 'And Just Like That …,' the glossy and sporadically baffling 'Sex and the City' sequel helmed by Michael Patrick King and Sarah Jessica Parker, will end with a two-part finale Aug. 14. The announcement of nonrenewal was abrupt. 'It became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,' executive producer King said in a Friday statement on Instagram, adding that while the decision to end the series had been made some time ago, he and series star and executive producer Parker 'didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season.'
