Not Hema Malini, Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Dharmendra was madly in love with THIS actress, walked miles only to ..., her name was... In 1960s and 70s, Dharmendra was a heartthrob, especially for his female fan following. Popularly called Bollywood's He-Man, many actresses secretly admired him and used to go gaga over his dashing personality. However, Dharmendra fell in love with Bollywood's dream girl Hema Malini and married her. But believe it or not there was another actress whom he had a huge crush on. The star was a legend in her own right, and Dharmendra got attracted to the film world only because of her. Any guesses who are we talking about? Well she was none other than the legendary Suraiya. Dharmendra confessed that he had a huge crush on her and was infatuated by watching her on-screen. He was so enchanted by Suraiya's beauty that he watched her film Dillagi 40 times. Dharmendra shared that he used to travel miles just to get a glimpse of her on the big screen. Born in June 1929, Suraiya's career was pretty iconic. She worked in over 70 films and also sang 338 songs as a playback singer. Her on-screen pairing with Dev Anand was widely admired. Moreover, she was madly in love with him, and the two were together from 1948 to 1951. Suraiya and Dev Anand even planned to elope but her family got in the middle. By her choice, she never got married and remained single for the rest of her life. Regarded among the finest and evergreen actresses in the history of Indian cinema, Suraiya retried from her acting career in 1963. She passed away at Mumbai's Harkishandas Hospital in January 2004 at the age of 75. Dharmendra, who was Suraiya's eternal fan, attended her funeral to pay his last respects.
