Omani pride and culture shine at vibrant festival
The event was graced by the presence of Her Highness the Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, the spouse of His Majesty the Sultan, and featured a vibrant display of Omani culture and national pride.
As His Majesty Sultan Haitham's motorcade approached the venue, around 1,800 citizens and folklore troupes from various governorates lined up on the streets, extending a warm welcome to their leader. The procession included the Royal Music Band, camel riders, and knights, who chanted words of loyalty and expressed their gratitude for His Majesty's leadership and guidance. The air was filled with pride as the people of Oman gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Upon his arrival at Al Fateh Square, His Majesty was greeted by Dr Madiha Ahmed al Shibani, Minister of Education, and Sheikh Saba'a bin Hamdan al Sa'adi, Secretary General of National Celebrations.
As His Majesty ascended the Royal dais, the Royal Anthem was played, marking the formal commencement of the festival.
The first highlight of the celebration was a captivating 'Welcoming Tableau', which depicted the joy and excitement of the Omani people in celebration of this national milestone.
The second tableau, 'Knowledge', showcased the fundamental role of education in Oman's development, underscoring the importance of innovation and research as part of the broader objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
The third tableau, 'A Promise Fulfilled', symbolised the progress made during the first five years of Oman's Renewed Renaissance. It reflected the government's focus on sectoral advancements and the sustained efforts towards nation-building and prosperity.
Next, the 'Oman, the Land of Peace' tableau illustrated Oman's commitment to Shura (consultation) and peaceful governance, core principles that have shaped the country's identity and fostered strong, harmonious relations among its citizens. The fourth tableau was a tribute to the rich cultural heritage and history of Oman.
The fifth, 'Oman Across Ages', featured a diverse group of citizens, including students and members of various governorates, who showcased the country's traditional folk arts and heritage. This display expressed the deep love and loyalty of the Omani people to their homeland and their steadfast commitment to preserving their cultural legacy for future generations.
The grand finale of the festival was a powerful tribute to His Majesty the Sultan, expressing heartfelt allegiance and gratitude for his leadership. The Omani people pledged to continue advancing under his wise guidance, charting a path towards further progress and sustainable growth in Oman's Renewed Renaissance.
The festival, held in honour of the 5th anniversary of His Majesty the Sultan's Accession Day, was attended by members of the Royal Family, dignitaries, government officials, military leaders, diplomats, and thousands of citizens. In total, around 8,000 participants from across the sultanate contributed to making this national celebration a resounding success.
This remarkable event highlighted the unity and pride of the Omani people as they look towards a future defined by continued prosperity and development under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

Salalah – As part of the khareef season 2025, Dhofar Municipality has launched the Literary Cultural Street—a key cultural attraction located within Attin Square in Salalah. Among the exhibitors is Bayn Al-Sotor Publishing House, participating for the fourth consecutive year. Founder Awad bin Salem al-Shikaili emphasized the publishing house's commitment to promoting Omani authors both regionally and internationally, highlighting its focus on self-development, fiction, legal studies, and Omani heritage. Adel Metwally, from Egypt's Boursa Books House, also reaffirmed his organization's continued participation since 2015. This year, the focus is on Omani historical publications, as well as support for emerging Omani writers and the inclusion of children's and educational books. He praised the Literary Cultural Street for its vibrant atmosphere and scenic location, adding that the 'Book Exchange' corner alone features over 100 works by Omani writers, spanning genres like poetry, fiction, and human development. The initiative aims to nurture literary appreciation and offer a platform for cultural dialogue between Omani and Arab creatives, drawing in visitors and book lovers from all over the region.

Month-long Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 opens
Jabal Akhdar – Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 officially opened on Friday at Celebrations Square under the patronage of Sheikh Sabaa bin Hamdan al Saadi, Secretary-General of National Celebrations Committee. The event was attended by officials, private sector representatives and members of civil society. Organised to stimulate domestic tourism and promote Jabal Akhdar's natural and cultural assets, the festival will run till August 30. Activities include cultural performances, sports competitions and entertainment programmes for all age groups. The opening ceremony featured drone and laser shows set against the mountainous backdrop, besides traditional art displays and folk music performances. Sheikh Hilal bin Saeed al Hajri, Governor of Dakhliyah, said the festival supports sustainable tourism by aligning investment in natural resources with social and economic empowerment. 'The festival reflects the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and reinforces the governorate's position on the national tourism map,' he said. He noted that 65 small and medium-sized enterprises are participating, alongside ten local farmers showcasing agricultural products. The festival has also created 60 temporary jobs for local youth in organisational and support roles. The festival grounds include dedicated areas for children and youth, a theatre for performances, amusement rides and food outlets. Folklore groups, the Lamborghini Club and the WanderDrive sports car team are also participating, enhancing the festival's appeal.
