Ademola Lookman ‘rejects Arsenal interest' as he has heart set on Inter Milan after handing in transfer request

ADEMOLA LOOKMAN has rejected the chance to join Arsenal, in favour of waiting for a move to Inter Milan, according to reports.
The Atalanta forward has made his intentions to leave the club this summer clear, but a move to Arsenal seems off the cards.

According to Corriere di Bergamo, the 27-year-old is reportedly waiting for Inter Milan to submit a more suitable offer, with Ivan Juric's side wanting at least £43.3million.
The potential deal with Arsenal was an estimated £45m.
The Nigerian has seemingly found himself in between a rock and a hard place after he has allegedly not attended training over the last few days.
It is no secret that Lookman wants to join Champions League runners-up Inter for the 2025/26 season, after the player reportedly made a personal agreement with the Nerazzurri.
Atalanta has turned down two offers for the international forward.
Despite the Atalanta talisman making his hopes known, he holds a lot of value for the Juric-led squad.
Lookman has been at Atalanta since 2022, when he moved from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of approximately £9.3m.
He has made 118 appearances for the club, scoring 52 goals in the process.
2
He has consistently appeared in 31 of the 38 games each season for Atalanta since he joined, with this season being his most successful for the side.
If Arsenal had managed to get the deal for Lookman over the line, it would have meant his return to the Premier League.

Lookman has previously played for Everton before he signed RB Leipzig in 2018.
He then went numerous loan spells back to Everton, then Fulham and also Leicester.
After returning from loan from Leicester, he was then signed by Atalanta.
To continue their aggressive recruitment drive this transfer window, Arsenal had hoped to capitalise on Lookman's unsettled situation at Atalanta.
After failing to tempt the forward, the Gunners have turned their attention elsewhere.
Gunners are reportedly on the verge of making a bid for Eberechi Eze, with Fabio Vieira expected to leave for Stuttgart.
In other news, Arsenal are said to be waiting to see if Real Madrid will allow Rodrygo out on loan.

NFL preseason roundup: Bears, Dolphins open with tie

August 10 - Tua Tagovailoa made a rare appearance in a preseason opener as the Miami Dolphins and host Chicago Bears forged a 24-24 tie on Sunday afternoon. Tagovailoa, who hadn't seen action in an opener since 2021, completed 5 of 6 passes on the game's opening drive that ended at the Bears' goal line. He then gave way to Zach Wilson (5-of-9, 96 yards) -- who directed two touchdown drives -- and rookie Quinn Ewers (5-of-18, 91 yards), who led the Dolphins to 10 fourth-quarter points that erased a pair of three-point deficits. Starting quarterback Caleb Williams did not play for the Bears in Ben Johnson's head-coaching debut. Tyson Bagent hit 13 of 19 passes for 103 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the first half. Case Keenum went 8-of-10 for 80 yards and two scores in the second half. His 14-yard strike to Jahdae Walker gave the Bears a 24-21 lead with 8:38 to play. Ewers directed a 23-yard drive that set up Jason Sanders' 56-yard field goal with 6:22 left that made it 24-24. --Field Level Media

Revealed: Alejandro Garnacho's stance on possible Chelsea move after Man United set asking price for 'bomb squad' member - as Blues consider defensive signing

Alejandro Garnacho has set his mind on a move to Chelsea after Manchester United revealed their asking price. The Red Devils have been looking to offload Garnacho all summer, with the Argentine international one of the unwanted players placed into a 'bomb squad'. Garnacho was told by United boss Ruben Amorim to find a new club in May, after the winger was unhappy to start on the bench in the Europa League final. Chelsea hold strong interest in the 20-year-old, who is believed to be valued at £50million - significantly less than the £70m that United initially wanted. The Blues' hierarchy have no concerns over his character after doing their homework. In total Garnacho has played 144 games for United and has scored 26 goals, while he has provided 22 assists. He won the FA Cup with United in the 2023-24 campaign and the EFL Cup in the previous season. The Stamford Bridge club are still assessing whether to add another centre back for Enzo Maresca but intend to sell before making more buys. Nicolas Jackson remains an option for the likes of Newcastle while Christopher Nkunku is wanted by former club RB LEIPZIG as part of negotiations over Xavi Simons. Nkunku has a number of options but Chelsea would be open to reducing the fee for Simons by including the French forward in any deal. Leipzig are also keen on Chelsea's Tyrique George.

Marcus Rashford's incredible miss in first home run-out for Barcelona

Marcus Rashford has emerged as a contender for miss of the season following his home debut for Barcelona. The 27-year-old England international has arrived on a season-long loan from Manchester United, looking to revive his stalled career alongside teenage sensation Lamine Yamal in what promises to be one of Europe's most explosive front lines. Rashford, one of Europe's top talents before falling out of favour at United and spending the latter part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, has joined a stellar attacking cast, which proved their prowess on Sunday night with a 5-0 hammering of Italian side Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, with two goals apiece from Lamine Yamal and Fermín López and one from former Leeds United forward Raphinha. Rashford, who earned ecstatic applause when he was introduced before kick-off, should have joined them on the scoresheet but was guilty of a shocking miss with Barcelona 4-0 up. He did the difficult part by rounding Como goalkeeper Jean Butez brilliantly, but with the goal at his mercy, he fired wide. 😬 Marcus Rashford haciendo un "para qué te traje", como diría "Bambino" Pons. Falla del inglés… — Luis Omar Tapia (@LuisOmarTapia) August 10, 2025 Barcelona are preparing for the new campaign under Hansi Flick, whose tactical revolution powered the Catalans to a remarkable domestic double built around 18-year-old Yamal, who took European football by storm after helping Spain win a record fourth European Championship. Flick's arrival in July 2024 following Xavi Hernández's bitter departure instigated a renaissance after years of management and financial struggles had damaged Barca's global image, including five straight seasons without a Champions League semi-final. The German, sacked as his national team's coach in September 2023, orchestrated a stunning turnaround that propelled Barcelona to their 28th Spanish league title and the Copa del Rey, nearly reaching the Champions League final before losing in heartbreaking fashion in the last four to Inter Milan in extra time. Their attacking display included 43 goals in 14 Champions League matches and an astonishing 102 in 38 La Liga games – 24 more than Real Madrid, who they beat in all four of their encounters last season, scoring 16 goals. Flick's entertainment-first approach helped Barca beat old rivals Real Madrid over four matches in a row across all competitions, reintroducing attacking verve to a club that treats total football as a religion. As Barcelona prepare to start the season at Mallorca on August 16, the German's main challenge will be fixing defensive frailties without compromising their scoring prowess. They will be battling with a Real Madrid side under new manager Xabi Alonso, with Carlo Ancelotti having headed to Brazil and striker Kylian Mbappé looking to bounce back from a disappointing debut season at the Bernabéu. Barca face a familiar hurdle in registering Rashford, however. The Spanish champions cannot register the forward because of La Liga's financial rules, having spent more on signings and wages than they have made in revenue for several seasons. President Joan Laporta has repeatedly said he is confident of registering Rashford and goalkeeper Joan García for the new season, with a deadline of end-August to resolve the issue. Despite Barcelona's long-standing financial crisis exacerbated by the Covid pandemic, the Catalan club have always eventually been able to register their new signings. They resorted to the courts and Spain's National Sports Council last season successfully to appeal over registering Dani Olmo and Pau Victor – a decision La Liga said violated its Financial Fair Play rules. Their troubles have ignited a feud with goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who was stripped of the captaincy after declining to sign a long-term injury leave of absence that would have allowed Barca to clear 80 per cent of his wages until mid-season and comply with La Liga financial rules.
