Sir Rod Stewart slammed for 'tacky' and 'out of touch' AI tribute to Ozzy Osbourne

Daily Mirror16 hours ago
Sir Rod Stewart has sparked backlash after playing an AI‑generated video of Ozzy Osbourne 'in heaven' with deceased music icons during his recent concerts
Fans at Sir Rod Stewart 's latest concerts have condemned the decision to play an AI‑generated video depicting Ozzy Osbourne meeting late music stars in 'heaven.'

The clip was shown on giant screens during a dedication of Forever Young to the Black Sabbath legend, who died on July 22 aged 76 and was buried on July 31.

The video featured a smiling Ozzy holding a selfie stick while posing with AI creations of George Michael, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Prince, Tina Turner, Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, Aaliyah, Michael Jackson and XXXTentacion. It comes after Kelly Osbourne broke her silence on her dad's death to share an emotional tribute.

Many audience members felt that Rod's tribute was 'tacky' and disrespectful, given how recently the rock icon had died.
Sloane Steel, who attended the Alabama concert where the clip was unveiled, said it was 'the craziest most disrespectful s**t I ever saw in my life.'
Another fan likened it to Weekend at Bernie's, adding: 'Prince didn't even want his music on Spotify… I'm 100% sure he wouldn't have signed off on Rod Stewart puppeteering his face for this tacky…'

One person wrote online: 'Good idea: pay tribute to Ozzy and his friends in heaven. Bad idea: making an AI‑generated video with his dead friends/members.' Another added: 'Omfg I was there too and was horrified by this. The whole thing felt creepy and unnecessary.'
Others questioned the choice of celebrities shown. 'Those aren't even Ozzy's friends,' one comment read. 'I doubt he even knew most of those people. That's part of what makes this so cringey. They just threw in any dead celebrity they could think of.'

Social media users also criticised the lack of personal connection. 'This wasn't even made by Rod Stewart's team,' one pointed out.
'It was pulled from a TikTok AI account. There's no authenticity, no real tribute - just a random AI video slapped on a big screen.'

The footage was traced back to a TikTok page called Eternal Stars, which produces AI videos of deceased celebrities.
Fans argued that using such content so soon after Osbourne's death showed poor judgement, especially given the grief still felt by his loved ones and supporters.
The controversy came just days after emotional scenes in Birmingham, where widow Sharon Osbourne wept at Black Sabbath Bridge surrounded by her children.

It was also less than a month since Ozzy's final public performance with Black Sabbath, where he remained seated throughout the show.
Bandmate Geezer Butler described him as 'frail' but 'thrilled' to perform one last time for his fans.

KFC and Greggs tease new collaboration and people are very excited

Foodies have been sent into a frenzy after Greggs and KFC shared a brief video in which they teased a 'summertime' collaboration and it's left people guessing what the link-up could mean British fast food lovers are licking their lips at the prospect of an unlikely collaboration that could be about to hit high streets across the country. It comes after bakery chain Greggs took to social media to tease a partnership with KFC. ‌ On both Instagram and TikTok, Greggs shared a brief video of one of its iconic sausage rolls being held up in front of a KFC restaurant's sign to the sounds of The Sundays' track Summertime and the line: "It's you and me in the summertime." In addition, Greggs added a caption: "Oddly satisfying. Is this a sign?" ‌ It prompted theories amongst excited foodies as to what a potential link-up between the two chains could entail. ‌ Writing in response on Instagram, one user pondered: "KFC inspired Chicken bake? Instead of creamy sauce in the current chicken bake it'll be KFC gravy? A KFC and gravy style bake? I'm invested." A second person mused: "Or... 'Chicken Bake Royale' - a buttery Greggs pastry filled with KFC's crispy chicken pieces, creamy gravy, and sweetcorn – finished with a flaky top crust. Like a chicken bake on steroids. ‌ A third demanded: "Arghhhhh stop teasing! What is it? Zinger roll? Tell me now." Whilst a fourth Instagram user suggested: "Sausage roll covered in KFC batter and fried to perfection and served with a KFC gravy based chippy curry sauce." And a fifth individual declared: "Okay, dipping a Greggs sausage roll in KFC's gravy (I realise while typing this it sounds a bit NSFW)... game changer." ‌ Whilst neither company is yet to confirm any collaboration, KFC responded to Greggs "oddly satisfying" remark, simply stating: "I agree." Adding further fuel to the fire, Greggs added: "Fancy seeing you here." Greggs' only previous high street collaboration came in 2022 when it teamed up with retailer, Primark to create a clothing range called 'Tasty'. ‌ The limited-edition range - a first for Greggs in its 83-year history - hit 60 Primark stores across the UK in February that year. Speaking at the time, Tim Kelly, Director of New Business Development at Primark said: "We want to give our customers incredible experiences in our stores and offer collections they can't find anywhere else, with brands we know they love. "We're thrilled to have teamed up with Greggs to bring the Tasty Café to our Birmingham store and give fans of the brand the chance to get their hands on the limited-edition clothing range."

Mo Gilligan fires back at 'deadbeat dad' claims as he shares first clip of secret son

Comedian Mo Gilligan has hit back at his ex Selina Christoforou after her viral social media post claiming he is a 'deadbeat dad' as he shared a shock video Mo Gilligan has appeared to have confirmed he is a father as he shared a clip of his secret son after the mother of his child slammed him. The comedian, 37, is getting ready to welcome his first child with current partner Taia Tulher, 28. ‌ However, his ex Selina Christoforou, 35, posted an explosive video on TikTok where she claimed he already has a child but is a "deadbeat dad". She claimed she knows how few times the star has met his son Rudi and insisted you "can't make someone be a dad". ‌ Their son was born in January 2024, and Selina claimed she could "count on her fingers and toes" how many times Mo has seen their child over the last 17 months. It comes after Liam Neeson's son reacted to his dad's romance with Pamela Anderson. ‌ While Mo has stayed silent on the claims, he has now appeared to hit back at Selina with a post featuring Rudi. The short black and white clip showed a little boy playing a giant game of Connect 4. Mo decided to keep the boy's identity hidden, but did include a very telling song alongside the clip. He paired it with Emotionless by Drake, which featured the lyrics: "I wasn't hidin' my kid from the world / I was hidin' the world from my kid. ‌ "From empty souls, who just wake up and look to debate / Until you starin' at your seed, you can never relate, Breakin' news in my life, I don't run to the blogs / The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call, "They always ask, why let the story run if it's false? /You know, a wise man once said nothin' at all." Mo had never announced he had become a father when Rudi was born and it's thought he met model Selina online. "She found out she was pregnant in May 2023 and it was quite a shock for them both because they'd been fairly careful," a source said. ‌ Speaking to the Sun they added: "She found out she was pregnant in May 2023 and it was quite a shock for them both because they'd been fairly careful. But she wanted to have the baby, despite the fact they weren't actually a couple. "She adores their son and Mo sees him semi-regularly. Now he's about to become a dad for a second time and he's over the moon. He has been with Taia for quite a long time now and he feels ready to settle down.' Taking to social media, Selina hit out at Mo in a viral post as she fumed: "I just finally posted on Instagram about my son's dad so for your information, if you don't follow my Instagram I don't blame you. Um, Mo Gilligan is his dad. Very much in quotation marks." She said she thinks things will get better for her "unbelievable" son. However, she said she understands you "can't make someone be a dad" and said Mo had made it very clear he wasn't wanting to be a dad.
