Trials And Triumphs Part Of Every Athlete's Journey
KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) -- Win or lose, the bittersweet nature of competition is something every athlete must embrace, said Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.
Her Majesty said that as a mother, she will continue to offer unwavering support and prayers for her children's success and safety in their sporting endeavours.
"I extend the same wish to all Malaysian athletes, regardless of their discipline — may you remain spirited and always give your best to bring pride to our beloved country.
'In the end, we place everything in the hands of Allah SWT. Never forget that whatever the outcome — be it fortune or setback — it is all part of His divine will,' Her Majesty said in a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's official Facebook page.
According to the post, Raja Zarith Sofiah, who is currently in Japan, shared in both the joy and disappointment experienced by her sons, who had contrasting results in the second race of the GT World Challenge Asia series at the Fuji Speedway Circuit today.
Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman continued his impressive form with a commanding victory, leading from start to finish alongside co-driver Ben Green in the #99 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
However, Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar and teammate Jordan Love were dealt a blow in the final corner of the race. Driving car #66, they were on course for a podium finish before being hit by another competitor, forcing them to retire.
Both Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) Corvette Z06 GT3.R entries had started the race from the front row after securing first and second place in yesterday's qualifying session.

[Watch] The BMW Driver Who Has No Money To Pay Toll
Subscribe to our FREE A BMW driver in Malaysia has become internet famous for the most ridiculous reason possible: refusing to pay a toll fee. It was Tuesday morning at the Lima Kedai toll station in Johor. A BMW pulls up to the toll booth but can't get through – maybe their card was dead, maybe they forgot their wallet. Who knows. So they do something that seems nice: put on hazard lights and reverse to let the car behind them go first. That car belonged to someone named Farah, who had a dashcam running – she pays her toll like a normal person. The barrier lifts. She drives through. That's when the BMW driver decided to get creative. Instead of waiting or figuring out how to pay, they just floored it and tailgated right behind Farah's car through the toll booth. Free ride. Zero ringgit paid. The Internet Reacts Farah posted the dashcam footage on TikTok, and Malaysian social media went nuts: 'Driving a BMW but can't afford the toll? Make it make sense.' 'Expensive car, cheap behaviour.' 'This is just embarrassing.' And honestly? They're right. This person is driving a car worth hundreds of thousands of ringgit, and they're pulling stunts to avoid paying whatever the toll fee was, whether it's a few ringgit or more, depending on where they entered the highway. Why People Are Mad It's not really about the money. It's about fairness. Everyone else pays their tolls like adults. When someone with a luxury car decides the rules don't apply to them, it isn't very pleasant. Additionally, it's entirely unnecessary. If you can afford a BMW, you can afford a toll fee. The video went viral across Malaysian social media, and although the BMW driver remains anonymous, their license plate is clearly visible in the footage. Will anything happen to them officially? Probably not. However, the internet shame is real, and in 2025, it can sometimes be worse than any fine. Meanwhile, the BMW driver gave everyone else a perfect example of why dashcams exist. Pei Jing accepts invite to spar with French shuttlers
PETALING JAYA: Independent mixed doubles shuttler Lai Pei Jing has accepted an invitation to spar with the French team ahead of the World Championships from Aug 25-31 in Paris. The experienced Pei Jing was approached by French coaches when she was competing with Jimmy Wong in the Luxembourg Open in May. "During a tournament in Luxembourg, French coaches approached me and asked if I was interested in sparring with their players. "I spoke to my coach (Teo Kok Siang) about it because the players here (in Malaysia) also need me. "But he understood that I needed the money, so he gave me his blessing. "This is my first time serving as a sparring partner for another country – but my heart remains with the Malaysian players," said Pei Jing. The French team, which includes world No. 8 Alex Lanier (men's singles) and world No. 7 Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue (mixed doubles) will definitely be eyeing a good showing in the world meet at home. Pei Jing, who will turn 33 in August, made nine appearances in the world meet, three with Tan Aik Quan and six with Tan Kian Meng, and came closest to winning a medal in 2022 when she and Kian Meng reached the quarter-finals. Pei Jing ended her partnership with Kian Meng in March after the latter decided to retire from the sport.
