Some directors are known for working with the same actors multiple times, and "Superman" writer/director James Gunn is definitely one of those filmmakers. So it should come as little surprise that at least three "Guardians of the Galaxy" actors make cameos in the upcoming "Superman".

Speaking to Buzzfeed Australia, James Gunn let the proverbial cat out of the bag about the three "Guardians" cameos.
"I will give you something that nobody knows, but Pom Klementieff is one of the robots," Gunn revealed. "It's Bradley [Cooper] and then it's also Pom and Michael Rooker is another one of the robots."

Fans will remember Pom Klementieff plays the antennae-wielding empath Mantis who first appears in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and is ultimately revealed to be Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) half-sister.
Michael Rooker plays the Ravager Yondu in the first two films, while Bradley Cooper has been the voice of Rocket Raccoon in all of his "Guardians" and "Avengers" appearances.
In case you're confused about what robots Gunn is referring to: the three "Guardians" actors, along with Alan Tudyk, are voicing the Kryptonian robots who stand guard over Superman's Fortress of Solitude.
Asked about "Guardians" actors Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldana, Gunn said he was "keeping them in the wings."
Technically, we already knew about one "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor appearing in "Superman".
Nathan Fillion, who plays Guy Gardner/Green Lantern in the DC blockbuster, appears in both the first and third "Guardians" features. He would have appeared in the second, but his cameo was sadly cut.
We already know Fillion's time as Guy Gardner will be longer than anything he did in the "Guardians" franchise. Along with "Superman", he's been confirmed to play Gardner in Season 2 of "Peacemaker" and Season 1 of "Lanterns".
The fact that Klementieff, Cooper, and Rooker add their voices to "Superman" doesn't cut them out of future DC Studios appearances, either.
In fact, we already know Rooker will appear again. Along with playing Savant in 2021's "The Suicide Squad", Rooker will play the eagle hunter Red St. Wild in the upcoming Season 2 of "Peacemaker".
"Superman" releases in theaters on July 11. Tickets are on sale now. The film is written and directed by James Gunn. "Superman" stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced.

‘Peacemaker' Season 2's Red Band Trailer Is Ready to Drop Bombs

Call it a crisis of superhero faith in himself; DC Studios' Peacemaker (John Cena) is back with a big bombshell of a secret. And no, it's not that there's a new theme song or dance—we already knew that. It turns out another pocket dimension really does exist, and it happens to be located in Peacemaker's daddy's room. When this piece of information gets out, none other than Rick Flagg Sr. (Frank Grillo) uses it as an excuse to finally exact revenge on the man who killed his son—no matter how much he's changed since The Suicide Squad. With the option to literally peace out into another timeline, Chris considers taking on his Peacemaker mantle in a better world for him, one that doesn't want him dead, but that would mean leaving behind his friends. Watch the red-band trailer below, complete with an intro from James Gunn and John Cena, that's full of fucks to give and lots of nudity during Chris' messy era post season one. Suffice to say, if you're browsing at work—you've been warned. Recently at SDCC 2025, we uncovered that the timeline that Peacemaker exists in is very likely deteriorating. Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and friends have hit a new low since Waller blacklisted them, so their world is falling apart in so many ways. Thankfully in this trailer Eagly appears to be ok and hopefully swoops in to raise the spirits of the 11th Street Kids. Will Peacemaker let his reckoning come and stay with his band of misfits? Or will he run off into Superman's more idealistic world in the new DCU? The answers will arrive on August 21, when Peacemaker returns to HBO Max with a whole lot of explaining to do. James Gunn Teases Next Chapter in the SUPERMAN Saga - "I've Already Finished the Treatment" — GeekTyrant

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn isn't wasting any time when it comes to continuing the Superman aaga. Fresh off the theatrical release of the film, Gunn has confirmed he's already laid the groundwork for what comes next. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Peacemaker Season 2 premiere, Gunn said: "I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the Superman Saga. The treatment is done – which means a very, very worked-out treatment. 'I'm working on that, and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today." The Superman ending hinted at what's to come, including a fun crossover with Milly Alcock's Supergirl, who will headline her own movie next year. While fans were initially speculating about a direct Superman sequel, Gunn recently clarified that the upcoming follow-up project simply features Superman in a major role, but it will be filled with several other characters. This all forms part of Gunn and Peter Safran's larger vision for DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, a rebooted slate that promises to reinvent the DC Universe. Coming up next is Peacemaker Season 2, debuting August 21, with John Cena reprising his role as the chaotic anti-hero Christopher Smith. Also in the pipeline is a Clayface movie penned by Mike Flanagan, a new Wonder Woman project, and the Green Lantern series Lanterns coming to HBO next year. The Superman Saga is clearly just heating up, and fans won't have to wait too long to see where it goes next.

Couple Wanted To Give Rescue Dog a DNA Test—But He Had Other Plans

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A couple who were eager to have their rescue dog undergo a DNA test to find out what breed he is soon found out he was ready to play ball. Deanna knew from early on in her relationship that her girlfriend Savannah would love to get a dog, but finding the right one proved harder than anticipated. Then, one night, the perfect opportunity presented itself. "The local shelter had a 'clear the shelters month' where adoption fees were $25—that was our chance," Deanna told Newsweek. The search was far from straightforward, though. "We were looking online and looking, and we found some very cute pups, but none appeared to be 'Savannah's' dog," Deanna said. "We didn't have an idea at all; we just knew that we would know." From left: Ravioli stands at home; and sleeps on a couch. From left: Ravioli stands at home; and sleeps on a couch. Deanna Hennelly Then, one day, a dog by the name of "Winston" appeared on the website. "He was listed as a 8 week old, 2-pound Labrador mix. Yes, 2 pounds. But I thought he'd be tiny," Deanna said. After a protracted adoption process, the sweet puppy came home where he was quickly renamed Ravioli. "Savannah had lived in Italy for a bit, and this was meant to be her dog, so we wanted a silly food name," Deanna said. "Ravioli just seemed perfect for this goofy-eared man." Deanna and Savannah got creative, giving Ravioli a person modeled on Jersey Shore reality TV star DJ Paul D. "That's his dad, we joke," Deanna said. "He wears an Ed Hardy collar, eats out of a DJ table slow feeder, has his own crocadilly—it's his whole thing." Though they both joke Ravioli is a ladies man, the reality is he's much more likely to be a momma's boy than anything else. "He loves a cuddle and is sweeter and mushier than anything," Deanna said. But, while the couple were happy to create a distinct personality for Ravioli, they were eager to find out more about where he came from. Some of that comes down to Ravioli's unique attributes. "He's super lean and energetic, long limbed (a noodle), a sweet cuddly boy who sleeps curled into a ball, and hilariously expressive," Deanna said. "He will also throw his hands like a boxer. Apple photos identifies him as a greyhound, he was listed as a lab mix at the rescue." They decided to turn to a dog DNA test for answers. Pet DNA testing is a popular practice among pet owners eager to learn more about their animal companion. A 2023 report put together by the business consulting firm Grand View Research estimates the global pet DNA testing market is around $365.34 million. That figure is projected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 9.45 percent from 2024 to 2030. Given the wide availability of testing kits, it didn't take much for Deanna to get one for Ravioli. However, any plans she may have had for administering soon went out the window. "I was making pasta and realized we didn't have basil," Deanna said. "Luckily, I had a small grocery shop downstairs." In her haste to get dinner fixed, however, Deanna made a fateful mistake: Ravioli's crate was left open and, while she headed to the store, he set to work. "We come home, he walks up and greets us and we go, 'what?'" Deanna said. "Well, the apartment is a disaster; he has destroyed 3 stuffed animals, eaten a block of Parmesan, and completely ripped apart his DNA test kit." Ravioli the rescue dog playing dress-up. Ravioli the rescue dog playing dress-up. Deanna Hennelly That was two years ago, but it's a memory that has stayed with Deanna and Savannah. So much so that Deanna recently took to Reddit, posting under the handle u/ParsnipNo9680, to share the story of what happened when they tried to get Ravioli tested. The original plan had been to get a replacement test. Deanna said the company she purchased it from "said they sent me a new one" but it never arrived. "So honestly, I've kinda accepted it wasn't meant to be." Though she is resigned to never fully knowing the truth. Deanna posted Ravioli's story online, partly in the hope someone might help. "He doesn't want us to find out, but please secretly help us," she said. Anyone willing to assist, is urged to contact her via the Reddit post.
