Salesman charged with cheating in RM5.1mil glove deal
P. Dinesh, 36, together with the director of Aspen Broadway Sdn Bhd, who has been charged with the offence, was alleged to have deceived an individual into believing that 150,000 boxes of Hartalega brand COATS nitrile examination gloves were already in stock at Hartalega Sdn Bhd's warehouse.
On the belief that the gloves were already at the warehouse, the victim transferred RM5.1mil through a law firm into a bank account belonging to another law firm that Aspen Broadway had appointed as the company's lawyer.
The gloves were supposedly for sale and delivered by Aspen Broadway to another company, but they actually did not exist.

The offence was allegedly committed at a condominium in Jalan Tun Ismail near here on Nov 9, 2020.
The charge was framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 10 years or whipping and a fine, if convicted.
Judge Azrul Darus allowed Dinesh bail of RM100,000 with one surety and also ordered him to surrender his passport to the court and to report to a nearby police station once a month. The court also set July 28 for mention.
On Feb 10, Aspen Broadway Sdn Bhd company director R. Gopinatan Pillai was charged with one count of fraud and seven counts of money laundering involving the sale and purchase of gloves. – Bernama

Football match brawl: Police arrest 7, including players and team manager
TELUK INTAN: Police have arrested seven men for rioting during a football match at Padang Speedy here, with a video of the incident also going viral on social media. Hilir Perak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the men, aged between 21 and 31, were detained around 11.30pm yesterday at the compound of the Hilir Perak district police headquarters, with all of them admitting to being involved in the fight. He said the riot occurred during the second half of a Hilir Perak Integrity League 2025 football match between Padang Tembak FC and Jenderata FC. According to him, tensions began in the second half when a Padang Tembak FC player made a hard tackle on a Jenderata FC player, which then triggered an altercation between the two teams. "The situation became heated and uncontrollable when one of the players was punched, leading to a full-blown physical brawl involving players from both teams. "Amid the chaos, two male spectators, believed to be supporters, climbed over the fence and entered the field — one of them attempted to kick a player, which led to retaliation and a scuffle between players and spectators," he said. Bakri added that the situation escalated when a team manager punched the central referee in the ribs. "While trying to break up the fight, the central referee fell to the ground, and several opposing players also physically assaulted other referees," he said. He said all suspects, including team managers and players from both teams involved in the incident, were identified based on video recordings and jersey numbers. The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code, and all those arrested are being remanded until this Sunday.

Four Bangladeshis nabbed at KLIA for smuggling gold, smartphones worth over RM187,000
KUALA LUMPUR: Four Bangladeshis were detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 for suspected involvement in smuggling gold and smartphones. The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) said the arrests were made in collaboration with the airport's Aviation Security (Avsec) team, following preliminary intelligence and profiling efforts. "Various items, with a total estimated value of RM187,742.10, were seized during the operation. "These included three pieces of jewellery believed to be gold, worth approximately RM160,000; 12 smartphones of various brands valued at RM22,700; cash amounting to RM5,042.10; and five international passports belonging to Bangladeshi nationals," the agency said in a statement today. It added that all four suspects are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63. Three of them are suspected of violating Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for breaching the conditions of their entry passes, while one is suspected of committing an offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the same Act for entering and remaining in Malaysia without a valid pass or permit. "A police report was lodged following the arrests and seizure of the items. "All four have been handed over to the Selangor Immigration Department for further investigation and legal action under the relevant laws," the agency added.
