Kiss' Gene Simmons Crashes Local L.A. Weather Report, Says Weather Is Perfect ‘To Rock and Roll All Night'

Yahoo14-03-2025
A Los Angeles news station got a dose of star power when Gene Simmons crashed a local weather report. On Thursday, the legendary Kiss vocalist and bassist made an unexpected appearance on Fox 11 Los Angeles, joining meteorologist Adam Kruger to help deliver the week's forecast.
'You look much better in real life than you do on TV,' Simmons quipped to Krueger. When Krueger assured Simmons he looks good in both, Simmons (decked out in sunglasses and leather pants) joked: 'I know that.'

The 'God of Thunder' singer reported on citywide showers, but he and Krueger assured viewers that sunny skies were ahead, even sneaking in a few Kiss lyrics. 'This weekend it's looking pretty good if people want to rock and roll all night,' Krueger said, a nod to the 1975 track 'Rock and Roll All Nite.'
Simmons continued the bit, finishing the lyric and advising that viewers 'should probably party every day.'
'The weatherman approached me and asked me if I wanted to jump on and do the weather,' Simmons told Entertainment Weekly about appearing in the segment. 'Of course! But I told him, 'Hold onto your britches. I'm not your usual weatherman. Weather advisory is in order.''
The impromptu weather report isn't the first time Simmons has appeared on local Los Angeles news: the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has previously helped Los Angeles' KTLA 5 deliver a weather forecast, during which he encouraged viewers to 'Kiss somebody. The mailman, your beautiful wife — kiss the dog, kiss life.'

Switzerland Submits Petra Volpe's ER Drama ‘Late Shift' For Oscar Race; Music Box Lands U.S. Rights

Switzerland's Swiss Federal Office of Culture on Tuesday said it has selected writer-director Petra Volpe's drama Late Shift as the country's official entry for the 2026 Oscars in the International Feature Film race. The news comes the same day that Music Box Films said it has acquired North American distribution rights to the pic, which stars Leonie Benesch (The Teachers' Lounge, September 5). Late Shift had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and centers on Floria (Benesch), a nurse who navigates the relentless pace on a surgical ward with unwavering dedication, infusing humanity and warmth into her patient care even though the shift is understaffed. As the day intensifies, it transforms into a gripping race against time. 'Leonie's outstanding central performance is a feat of stamina that drives home the dignity and strength of nurses everywhere. The Swiss Oscar committee has chosen wisely.' Volpe's previous films included The Divine Order, which was Switzerland's Oscar entry in 2018. The country has won the Oscar in the category twice, for Dangerous Moves (1984) and Journey of Hope (1990), the last time it made it to the nomination stage. Late Shift was No. 1 at the box office for four consecutive weeks across Germany, Austria and Switzerland when it hit theaters there in February. TrustNordisk has sold the film to more than 50 countries and brokered the U.S. deal with Music Box. It is produced by Reto Schaerli and Lukas Hobi from Zodiac Pictures, in co-production with MMC Zodiac, Swiss Radio and Television and SRG SSR. It had support from the Federal Office of Culture, Zurcher Filmstiftung, German Federal Film Board, Suissimage and the cantons of Aargau and Lucerne.
