KU gets India Higher Education Award
At an event organised by Education World on Friday at Hotel Grand in New Delhi on Friday, the award was presented to Krishna University's Rector Prof MV Basaveswara Rao, by Jatin Paranjape, a member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
In his address, Prof Basaveswara Rao spoke about the successes and outcomes achieved by India in the fields of science and technology. He emphasised the need for the intellectual community, which had previously left the country for foreign shores, to return and work wholeheartedly for the nation's development.

Youth setting new research milestones: Governor
Hanumakonda: Youth of today's India are prepared for research and development, setting new research milestones, said Governor and chancellor of Kakatiya University Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday, during the 23rd convocation at the KU auditorium here. He awarded PhD degrees to candidates from various faculties and presented gold medals to students who secured the first rank in different subjects. Addressing the gathering of students, researchers, faculty members, guests and dignitaries, Varma urged students not to limit themselves to laboratories, but to be prepared to serve society in life. He noted that the KU has emerged as a prominent centre of education in north Telangana. The NAAC A+ grade, NIRF ranking in the 151–200 band, third position in the national UI Green Metric ranking, and 84th rank for the pharmacy college at the national level are all significant achievements. These accomplishments, he said, are not solely due to resources, but are the result of the vision and perseverance of teachers, researchers and students. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, he stated that education should bring out the best in body, mind and soul. The Governor appreciated the university's launch of courses in AI, machine learning, cyber security, data science, and nutrition science in line with the NEP-2020 and its emphasis on improving employability. He recalled former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's words that a convocation is not an end, but the beginning of a new journey. He emphasised that the 21st-century skills outlined by the Prime Minister—critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, curiosity and communication—are essential, and that every great leader was once a student. He urged students to move forward with courage, embrace change, and serve with compassion and skill. Guest of honor Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, director, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, and recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, said convocation is a moment of joy in every student's life. He urged students to be grateful to their parents, teachers, and friends who contributed to their success. He emphasised that coming from a rural background or studying in Telugu medium should not be seen as a barrier—what matters is one's goal. He said knowledge alone is not enough; knowing how to apply it is crucial and cited his own life as an example. He mentioned that the GoI has launched several programmes like Skill India, PMKVY, Startup India, Digital India, and Atal Innovation Mission for youth development. KU V-C Prof. K Pratap Reddy expressed joy that the convocation took place during the university's golden jubilee year. He said the university has crossed many milestones. The government sanctioned Rs144 crore as a block grant and an additional Rs50 crore. These funds will help strengthen the university's infrastructure. Infosys, as part of its CSR initiative, provided 300 computers in phases. As part of the golden jubilee, the university has sent a DPR to the government for the construction of a jubilee academic complex, the PV Narasimha Rao Research and Knowledge Centre, a 1,000-bed girls' hostel, and a centenary block at the Arts College. He announced the launch of new courses in AI, data science and public health. In total 446 gold medals were awarded; 374 students were conferred PhD degrees. Prior to the ceremony, the Governor was welcomed with a bouquet by the V-C and Registrar Prof. V Ramachandram. After a guard of honour by NCC cadets, the academic senate meeting was held, followed by a commemorative photo session. A formal procession, led by the police band, marched to the stage in a rhythmic manner.

KU celebrates 23rd convocation; Governor stresses five skills for success
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has urged graduates to develop five essential skills — critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, curiosity and communication — to be successful in life and career. He also stressed the need to take risks and stay abreast of trends to serve the world. Delivering the convocation speech at the 23rd convocation of Kakatiya University (KU), the Governor, who is the Chancellor of the varsity, said, 'Kakatiya University is aligning its goals with the national mission of implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The introduction of courses such as AI & ML, cybersecurity, data science, and nutrition sciences demonstrates this forward-looking approach.' Referring to the academic performance of KU, the Governor highlighted that the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences has earned ntheational rank of 84, and the university has secured third place in UI Green Metrics, standing first in Telangana. Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) director D. Srinivasa Reddy said, 'For many students from rural backgrounds, English may seem like a barrier that is hard to cross. But I have learned over time that language is only a tool. It is your ideas, your thinking, and effort that truly matter.' He shared his personal struggles as a student from a remote village in Nalgonda district, recalling that he even worked as a paperboy for a brief period in Hyderabad. Reddy emphasised that background is not a boundary for anyone who wants to excel. Highlighting the contributions of IICT in transforming Hyderabad into a pharmaceutical hub, mentioned that the institute had helped develop an adjuvant for Covaxin, India's indigenous COVID-19 vaccine. KU Vice-Chancellor K. Pratap Reddy stated that the university has been placed in the 151-200 band in NIRF rankings. 'Over the last five years, our faculty members have published more than 3,000 research papers, and the university has secured over 50 patents,' he added. A total of 564 gold medals and 387 Ph.D.s were awarded to graduates across various faculties at the ceremony. KU Registrar V. Ramchandram, Controller of Examinations Katla Rajender, deans, senate members, former faculty members, and other guests were present.

Krishna University celebrates triple convocation
As Andhra Pradesh plans to become a global leader by 2047, Governor and Krishna University (KrU) Chancellor S. Abdul Nazeer expressed hope that the varsity, too, would ascend the trajectory of sustained growth, inclusive development and technological renaissance that would secure the State's future. Addressing the students of Krishna University's 6th, 7th and 8th convocation in Machilipatnam on Wednesday, the Governor said: 'Students are going to be part of the evolving progress and change that sectors will see in alignment with Swarnandhra 2047 vision. At the end of graduation, one does not just carry degrees, but responsibilities, a wealth of knowledge, problem solving abilities, ethical values and an understanding of the world.' The Governor encouraged students to dream big. Quoting former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he said: 'Dreams take shape of thoughts, which then result in action.' He expressed happiness over the university having achieved 100% placements this year, Mr. Abdul Nazeer urged the faculty to formulate a demand-driven approach in designing courses, keeping in view the emerging technology, for wider employability of students. Earlier, HRD Minister N. Lokesh, Guest of Honour, told the graduating students that their degrees are not mere certificates, but 'a responsibility to apply their knowledge for the greater good.' He emphasised that learning should not end with graduation, but has to be a lifelong commitment. 'Whatever you choose, be excellent in it and make ethics your compass,' he said, adding that while knowledge is important, it is character, compassion and courage that defines success. He said passion should be the driving force, since the best innovations have always resulted from great passion. The Minister, while lauding the varisty for achieving 100 percent placements, asked the faculty to work harder to place the varsity in the list of the best-ranking universities. During the convocation, 21 gold medallists, 62 PhD, two MPhil scholars and 300 PG students were awarded degrees. Honorary Doctorates for the 6th convocation was awarded to Mandava Prabhakar Rao, Chairman of NSL Group, while M.N.V. Ravi Kumar, a professor in the Department of Translational Science and Medicine, University of Alabama, U.S., received the Honorary Doctorate for the 7th convocation. For the 8th, C. Anil Kumar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Greenco received the honours. The Governor was welcomed by Ministers Mr. Lokesh, Vasamsetti Subhash and Kollu Ravindra, Vice Chancellor K. Ramji, District Collector D.K. Balaji and other officials at the university. Later, they all proceeded to inaugurate a food court within the premises.
