UPM students embrace rural life and volunteerism in Kampung Angkat MADANI
The three-day initiative was organised by UPM's Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre (PKPP).
It involved 25 foster families and activities like agricultural workshops, entrepreneurship sessions, tree planting, and local product exhibitions.
PKPP director Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Mursyid Arshad highlighted the university's role in supporting community development.
'This programme reinforces UPM's commitment to staying relevant to societal needs,' he said in a statement.
The university also hosted PUTRA MADANI, a 30-hour live podcast discussing agriculture, community issues, and the Malaysia MADANI concept.
Mohd Mursyid said the podcast served as an informal yet effective communication tool for government aspirations.
'We aim to promote the MADANI spirit of unity, progress, and new opportunities,' he added.
Amira Farhana Sallehuddin, a Human Development student, joined the programme during her semester break.
She appreciated the chance to gain new insights, attend motivational sessions, and participate in gotong-royong activities.
Block AGH Village Development and Security Committee chairman Zam Zaidi praised UPM's impact on the community.
He noted that the podcast introduced villagers to digital platforms for product promotion and eco-tourism.
The programme was a collaboration between UPM's University Community Transformation Centre and Strategic and Corporate Relations Centre.
Support came from the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Educational Studies, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital, and Alumni Relations Centre. - Bernama

Its vice-chancellor Prof Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim said the 2025 National Month celebrations at UTM are not just symbolic but a starting point to strengthen integrity, enhance synergy, elevate excellence and boost sustainability efforts. He said this in his speech when launching the university's 2025 National Month and Brisk Walk Perdana programme held at its Skudai campus here recently. The event, aimed at instilling patriotism while encouraging healthy living, attracted almost 1,600 UTM staff dressed in sports attire in the colours of the Jalur Gemilang. The programme started with an aerobics session, followed by the 1.5km brisk walk with participants waving national flags as they made their way around the lake. Other activities included Merdeka-themed performances and a lucky draw to liven up the festive atmosphere. Prof Mohd Shafry said the programme reflects UTM's commitment to fostering love for the country alongside an active and sustainable lifestyle under its UTM Sihat and Lestari agenda. 'This event brings together two important elements, which are the spirit of patriotism and love for the country, as well as a healthy and sustainable lifestyle,' he added. He said this year's national celebration theme, Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni, aligns with UTM's role as a higher education institution that not only cultivates knowledge but also nurtures character and community spirit. 'This month gives us space to reflect on the meaning of independence and our responsibility to defend it. 'The theme fits perfectly with our mission of serving and caring for the community,' he said. Prof Mohd Shafry added that UTM upholds the principles of courtesy, humility and rational thinking in all its actions, guided by its core values of ISES (integrity, synergy, excellence and sustainability). On the Brisk Walk Perdana, he said it symbolised UTM's support for a healthy and balanced work culture, while also strengthening the sense of community and cooperation among faculties, departments and all levels of staff and students. The launch also featured a symbolic gimmick to mark the start of UTM's 2025 National Month celebrations, representing unity, patriotism and appreciation for the sacrifices of Malaysia's independence fighters.

Laman Malaysia Madani a platform to understand Madani principles and aspirations
PUTRAJAYA: Laman Malaysia Madani, a landscaped area with a national identity that projects the country's image through design elements reflecting the values of sustainability, well-being, innovation, respect, trust and compassion, was launched at the Botanical Garden here today. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said Laman Malaysia Madani was not merely a decorative garden but also served as an educational medium for visitors to understand the principles and aspirations of Madani, including sustainability and innovation in daily life. "Laman Malaysia Madani is symbolic and a tangible manifestation of a national vision that is inclusive, sustainable and unifying. "The sturdy Madani logo sculpture in the centre of the garden represents our trust in the nation's direction. The unity mural adorning the wall symbolises mutual respect and compassion, while the country's iconic flowers express the language of love, well-being and togetherness," he said in his speech at the launch of Laman Malaysia Madani and the special publication 'Shamsul Azri: 365 Days of Upholding the Trust'. Also present were Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, Federal Territories Department director-general Datuk Seri Noridah Abdul Rahim, Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud, National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) director Datuk Dr Mohd Zabri Yusoff, as well as the top leadership of the civil service. Govt agencies, Madani communities must play active role in flying Jalur Gemilang, says Japen
KOTA BARU: All federal and state government agencies as well as Madani communities across the nation have been urged to take a more proactive role in fostering patriotism by flying the Jalur Gemilang at their premises in conjunction with National Month. Kelantan Information Department (Japen) director Muhd Aswadi Md Nor stated that active involvement is essential to ensuring the message of patriotism reaches the wider public. "As institutions closely connected to the community, government agencies and neighbourhood associations must set an example for residents by decorating their buildings or homes with the Jalur Gemilang to manifest unity and love for the country. "The responsibility of flying the Jalur Gemilang must be shared and embraced by all levels of society," he told Bernama after the flagging off of the 2025 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) convoy at Politeknik Kota Baru on Monday (Aug 11), officiated by National Kenaf and Tobacco Board chairman Datuk Seri Md Alwi Che Ahmad. The convoy began its journey on Sunday (Aug 10) from Kolej Komuniti Jeli. It then proceeded to Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, concluding the ride in Machang before handing over the Jalur Gemilang to the Terengganu KMJG convoy. KMJG 2025 is part of the initiative to enliven the National Month and Malaysia Day celebrations, themed Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni, in line with the nation's leadership vision rooted in the values of humanity, social well-being, and justice. – Bernama
