Prince George RCMP investigate $25,000 in damage to cemetery headstones
RCMP estimate the damage at the Prince George Municipal Cemetery to be up to $25,000.
Four of the 21 knocked-over headstones were damaged, according to city spokesperson Kendall Robertson.
"The non-damaged ones have been returned to their positions and everything cleaned up," Robertson said. "Staff also notified plot owners of the damaged markers."
The City of Prince George, located about 515 kilometres northeast of Vancouver, said it is not financially responsible for repairs or replacing the damaged headstones.
City bylaws state that the care of "grave space memorials" is the responsibility of the owner.
Since there is no surveillance on the cemetery grounds, there is little insight into what happened, according to Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.
Investigators are asking anyone who has information on the case to contact RCMP.

He said police are looking to speak with people in that group, if they have not already done so. "Every little bit matters, whether you think that it's useful or not," he said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Toronto police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers. Mayor Olivia Chow said she shares "in the anger and pain of this loss" in a statement posted on X on Saturday. "Gun violence must end in our city," the statement reads. "The reckless and violent acts of a few hurt entire communities and leave tragedy in their wake." She said she has spoken to Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw about the shooting, and police will provide further updates as they become available. Demkiw said he is "heartbroken" by the shooting in a post on X. Police will "commit every resource we need and necessary" in their investigation, he told reporters on Sunday. Demkiw encouraged those responsible to contact a lawyer and turn themselves in. "We will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of you, and we will bring you to justice," he said. Meanwhile, Wilson called for unity between all sectors — including families, schools, law enforcement and government — to combat gun violence. "When our children are not safe … in their own beds, we must acknowledge that we have failed them," he said. "This young boy should have had his whole life ahead of him. We owe it to him and we owe it to every child to do better."

Edmonton police issue Amber Alert for 2-year-old
The Edmonton Police Service has issued a province-wide Amber Alert for two-year-old Aurora Alexis. In the alert, police said she was taken around 4 p.m. from the area of 106th Street and 31st Avenue by Leonard Willier. Police said Willier is driving a 2018 white Toyota Tundra with a Saskatchewan plate of 786 JBH, and that there may be other people in the vehicle. Willier is described as six feet tall with a stalky build. Alexis has brown hair and brown eyes. Police are asking people not to approach Willier and to call 911 if he's spotted.
