David Geffen's Estranged Husband, Donovan Michaels, Sues Mogul for Breach of Contract
The suit, which was filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, accuses Geffen, 82, of exploiting a 'vulnerable, marginalized young gay Black man' as a 'wealthy, powerful white gay billionaire who believed himself untouchable.'

The Hollywood Reporter reported in May that Geffen filed for divorce from Michaels, 32, after less than two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The mogul tied the knot with Michaels, a former go-go dancer whose real name is David Armstrong, in 2023 in a private Beverly Hills ceremony. While the pair kept their relationship private, details surrounding their relationship have now been revealed in Michaels' suit.
The complaint states that the pair met on the dating website, SeekingArrangements.com. It also accuses Geffen of paying Michaels $10,000 for sex the night that they met, and, 'like the plot of the movie Trading Places, began treating Michaels as a living social experiment — a trophy to show off to his wealthy friends, under the guise of benevolence.'
According to the suit, Geffen knew about Michaels' troubled past — as he grew up in the foster care system — but 'rather than respond with empathy or offer genuine support, Geffen saw Michaels as an object of exploitation.'
Over time, the duo's paid sexual relationship developed into a partnership, the lawsuit states, as 'Geffen told Michaels he loved him and the two would treat one another as life partners, share all assets equally, and Geffen would support Michaels financially for life. Michaels gave up his dreams — his modeling career, his independence — to dedicate himself fully to this promise.'
Geffen and Michaels got married in 2023 with no prenup, according to the complaint, but 'what Michaels did not know at the time was that this was nothing more than a transaction to Geffen.'
Throughout their marriage, the mogul allegedly 'critiqued every aspect of Michaels' appearance and carefully controlled Michaels with respect to all aspects of his body hygiene,' requiring him to get 'painful laser treatments and dental treatments.' The suit also states that Michaels was met with 'back-handed insults and put-downs' about his 'past and lack of sophistication.'
In the complaint, Geffen is also accused of demeaning 'sexual access at will, including acts Michaels found degrading.' He also allegedly supplied Michaels with drugs and alcohol as 'tools of coercion — lowering his resistance and increasing his dependency.' This led Michaels to seek treatment after suffering from addiction.
Following treatment, Michaels claims he tried to make amends with Geffen, but that he 'did not want a healthier Michaels. He wanted control and submission. He wanted to be the savior, the white knight, and the 'top.''
After Geffen filed for divorce in April 2025, the suit alleges Geffen 'almost immediately breached the oral agreements by denying Michaels full financial support.' A few months later, in June 2025, the lawsuit states that 'while Geffen was hosting his super-wealthy celebrity friends on his superyacht in Venice, Italy, preparing to attend the Bezos [Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez] wedding, he demanded that Michaels immediately vacate the New York residence, which would effectively render Michaels homeless.'
'In addition to evicting Michaels, Geffen also cut him off from his status quo financial support, making it impossible for Michaels to secure an appropriate living situation and provide for his daily necessities,' according to the complaint.
THR reached out to Geffen's attorney for comment.
Geffen, who has a net worth over $9.1 billion, per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, landed at No. 371 on the list of the world's wealthiest people as of July 22.
The mogul also co-founded the label Asylum Records in 1971 before later founding Geffen Records and DGC Records. His motion picture company, Geffen Pictures, also produced a handful of films and TV shows, including Personal Best, Beetlejuice, Interview with the Vampire and Little Shop of Horrors.
Then in 1994, he co-founded DreamWorks SKG with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg, before DreamWorks Animation spun off to form a publicly traded company a decade later.

Meloni is best known for playing Det. Elliot Stabler, a role he originated on Law & Order: SVU and now plays on Peacock's Law & Order: Organized Crime. His other TV credits include Oz, Happy! and Underground. Detroit entrepreneur launches all-in-one platform to help creators monetize work
A former professional basketball player from Detroit is taking his talents from the court to the tech world with one goal in mind: helping creators get paid. Donnavan Kirk is the CEO and president of Creator Connect, a new platform designed to help artists and creatives manage, grow and monetize their work, whether it's physical products or digital content. "It's a marketplace for artists and creators all over the globe," Kirk said. Before launching the platform, Kirk spent nearly two decades pursuing basketball. He played professionally in Lithuania, Cyprus, Greece and Japan, and even launched a youth basketball camp. After retiring from the game, he felt a new calling. "I felt this tug, like, go ahead, get into tech, see where it takes you," he said. "I didn't know how to code a lick." Despite not knowing how to code, Kirk taught himself the ropes and began building Creator Connect, a platform he describes as part Etsy, part Fiverr and part Uber. The platform allows users to browse creators or content they like, submit custom project requests, propose a budget and deadline, and begin the process of closing a deal, all in one place. "What we're basically doing is taking away all that gray area, and saying, 'Hey, look, here's a creator. You may not be able to reach them through a DM, but now you can send them an idea with a budget attached,'" he said. At its core, Kirk says the platform is about empowerment. "I want creators to have freedom, that's my biggest thing. And I want them to get paid rates that make sense," he said. Although Creator Connect is global in scope, Kirk says the energy behind it is purely Detroit. "Now it's game time, and we're here, and we're doing this thing," Kirk said. ‘Lilo & Stitch' Is Now Streaming—How To Watch The Disney Live-Action Hit At Home
Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch, the second biggest film of 2025, has officially arrived on digital platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV+ before debuting on Disney+ sometime in the future. Keep reading to learn how to watch the blockbuster live-action remake for your next movie night below. Lilo & Stitch (2025) is a live-action remake of the beloved 2002 animated original, which inspired several spinoffs, including the popular TV show Lilo & Stitch: The Series. The film tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, whom she hopes will help heal her broken family. What Lilo doesn't know is that Stitch was genetically engineered for destruction — and now he's being hunted down by the aliens who created him. 'Stitch, an extraterrestrial entity, comes to planet Earth after he escapes his prison, where he tries to impersonate a dog. Things take a turn when Lilo adopts him from an animal shelter,' the synopsis reads. The film marks 8-year-old Maia Kealoha's breakout role. 'I relate to her because we're both from Hawaii and we're a little bit sassy," the Lilo actress told Deadline. 'We also like fun clothes, and we love surfing. I go surfing in my free time. We also love to dance hula because hula tells a story just like you can tell a story about any different kind of movie.' Sydney Elizabeth Agudong, who plays Nani, added: 'I'm an absolute OG fan of the film. I was looking at this new one like a clean slate. So, I really took to a lot of her identity as the older sister. It was something I held on to the entire time." Lilo & Stitch had an outstanding run at the box office, starting with a record-breaking $183 million debut in its first weekend — the highest-grossing four-day Memorial Day weekend opening in U.S. history. Then, just days ago, Lilo & Stitch became the first Hollywood release of the year to hit $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The movie is currently the second-biggest of the year in the U.S. in both worldwide and domestic gross, according to Box Office Mojo. Its success has been fueled by families and Gen Zers who grew up watching the franchise. Here's how to stream Lilo & Stitch at home, along with details on bonus features, the Disney+ streaming release timeline and updates on Lilo & Stitch 2. How To Watch Lilo & Stitch At Home Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch is currently available to stream on video-on-demand platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Fandango At Home. You can purchase the live-action remake for $29.99 or rent the film for $24.99. For rentals, you have 30 days to start watching the video and 48 hours to finish once started. When Will Lilo & Stitch Be Released On Blu-ray, DVD And 4K? Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch will also be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 26, 2025. The physical versions are available for pre-order now from retailers such as Amazon. The digital and Blu-ray releases will include fun bonus features, including deleted scenes, bloopers, behind-the-scenes moments and more. Check out the full list of bonus features below: When Will Lilo & Stitch (2025) Be Streaming On Disney+? Lilo & Stitch (2025) Lilo & Stitch is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, so the live-action film will be released on Disney+ in the near future. It will likely arrive around three to four months after its theatrical premiere, which is sometime in late August or early to mid-September 2025. This timeline is based on the release patterns of other recently successful Disney films. For example, Moana premiered in theaters in November 2024 and landed on Disney+ in March 2025, just over three months later. 2024's Mufasa: The Lion King had a slightly shorter theatrical window of 96 days, but still debuted on Disney+ more than three months after its release. Will There Be A Lilo & Stitch 2? Lilo & Stitch (2025) If you want more of Stitch, Lilo and Nani, you'll be pleased to know that Lilo & Stitch 2 is officially happening. Disney announced in late June that the sequel is currently in development following the massive commercial and critical success of the 2025 film. The announcement was revealed in a fun video shared on Disney's Instagram account. The clip shows Experiment 626 cruising around the Disney lot in the iconic pink children's car from the film. "should've known he couldn't keep a secret. a 626 day surprise: #LiloAndStitch 2 is now in development!" the caption read. The Hollywood Reporter reported on July 23 that Chris Sanders, who co-created, co-wrote, and co-directed the 2002 animated Lilo & Stitch, is in final negotiations to return as the writer for the sequel. Sanders previously voiced the little blue alien in the original film and reprised the role in the live-action version. It's too early to know exactly where Lilo & Stitch 2 will go. The original movie was followed by two direct-to-video sequels, Stitch! The Movie and Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, as well as Lilo & Stitch: The Series. According to THR, the new sequel will tell 'a brand-new story.' Stay tuned to learn more details. Check out the official trailer below.
