Jim Cramer on The Mosaic Company (MOS): 'A Real Tough One to Understand'

Yahooa day ago

We recently published a list of . In this article, we are going to take a look at where The Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS) stands against other stocks that Jim Cramer discusses.
During the episode, Cramer mentioned The Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS) and said:
'There's no real theme to the other stocks on the list… Then there are two one-offs, Roblox and Mosaic… Here's a real tough one to understand, Mosaic. It's a fertilizer company. Now this one's an oddity. It's entirely possible that people are playing a theme of China food shortages. And that's one, by the way that, I'm not seeing. I think what it really is is farmers are flush, and that means they're capable of buying tons of fertilizer, which doesn't cost that much anyway.'
Mosaic (NYSE:MOS) produces and markets phosphate and potash-based crop nutrients, animal feed ingredients, and industrial products. Additionally, it offers blended fertilizers, biological complements, and related services. On May 20, Cramer recommended not buying the stock as he said:
'This weekend, when I was at Total Wine & More up there in Norwalk, I was shocked. Someone came to me and said, what do you think about Mosaic? I said, well, you know what, I think it's just, it's killer. It's killer. But it is hype, it is just like a parabolic move. If I come in now, I think I am too late…. I'm going to have to say, [don't buy, don't buy] because it's just up too much. It's up too much. I'm sorry.'
Overall, MOS ranks 13th on our list of stocks that Jim Cramer discusses. While we acknowledge the potential of MOS as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. Mutual funds vs. ETFs — the difference and the role they can play in your portfolio

Here's our Club Mailbag email investingclubmailbag@ — so you send your questions directly to Jim Cramer and his team of analysts. We can't offer personal investing advice. We will only consider more general questions about the investment process or stocks in the portfolio or related industries. This week's first question: What is the difference between an ETF & a mutual fund? — Maxine Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds are common ways to invest in a diversified basket of stocks or bonds. They can be actively or passively managed. The main differences? ETFs are traded like individual stocks, and prices fluctuate during trading hours. Mutual funds must be purchased and sold directly and are priced at the end of the market day. While often tracking a benchmark index such as the S & P 500 , both ETFs and mutual funds can also be pegged to mimic the performance of sectors like technology, health care, or consumer staples. Be aware that when investing with a narrower focus, there could be additional risk given less diversification. Investors can look at a fund's prospectus, which details its investment objectives, possible risks, fees, asset composition, and performance history, to get a better idea of whether a specific fund is right for their money goals. ETFs tend to have lower expense ratios than mutual funds. That's because when investors buy mutual fund shares, there's more work that goes into managing the transaction, which leads to higher costs for the mutual fund company. According to State Street , ETFs' median expense ratio is 0.52% versus 0.91% for mutual funds. It's important to consider fund costs since they can ultimately take a bite out of overall returns. It's also worth noting that mutual funds often have minimum investment thresholds, while ETFs do not have minimum investments outside the price of each share purchased. ETFs and mutual funds are set up by professional money managers at major investment firms, offering investors an easier way to own stocks than running their own portfolios. Jim Cramer has long advocated that market beginners put their first $10,000 into an S & P 500 index mutual fund or ETF and then pick no more than five individual stocks. The Club owns 30 stocks, but Jim and two other analysts run the portfolio, backed by an entire editorial team. Jim says "buy and homework," not "buy and hold," meaning investors must actively monitor developments that could affect their investments. Jim's rule of thumb is one hour of homework per week per stock. — See here for a full list of the stocks in Jim's Charitable Trust, the portfolio used by the CNBC Investing Club. Cyberattack on United Natural Foods to disrupt food supply at grocers in Pittsburgh region, beyond

Attention, Pittsburgh-area organic food shoppers. Look for selection to shrink and for store shelves to at least start to go bare on select items in the wake of a cyberattack on the largest organic food distributor in the United States, Rhode Island-based United Natural Foods Inc. (NYSE: UNFI), Amazon's primary food supplier for Whole Foods Market that counts more than 30,000 grocery stores throughout the country as customers. A spokesperson for Whole Foods told an affiliate publication of the Pittsburgh Business Times that the company is working to restock its shelves 'and apologize(s) for any inconvenience this may have caused customers.'
