How to boss bold printed shirts from Gucci and Prada, just like Pedro Pascal and Timothée Chalamet – the latest smart casual look for men

Timothée Chalamet has a way of making a statement on the red carpet, and his appearance at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival this February was no exception.
To receive the Arlington Artist of the Year Award for his roles in
A Complete Unknown and Dune: Part Two, Chalamet arrived in a
striking Prada cotton shirt pulled from the brand's archives. The bold lime green, yellow and white floral print caught the eye, while mother-of-pearl buttons and tapered cuffs added a touch of refinement, elevating the piece beyond classic beachwear.

Dressed by his go-to stylist Taylor McNeill,
Chalamet layered the shirt over a grass green tank top, pairing it with loose denim jeans and white trainers, while debuting a youthful pixie haircut for extra edge. Chalamet's choice speaks to the rising appeal of bold, patterned, long-sleeved shirts, which are being reimagined as versatile wardrobe staples that work for casual and dressed-up occasions.
'The trend for bold, printed long-sleeved shirts has evolved significantly over recent seasons, becoming more diverse and expressive,' says Daniel Todd, buying director at online fashion emporium Mr Porter. 'Initially, these shirts featured vibrant, oversized patterns or graphic prints, but now they include more intricate designs, subtler palettes and luxury fabrics. This shift reflects a broader transformation in menswear, where fashion has become a powerful form of self-expression.'
Also in February, Pedro Pascal donned a silk Bode shirt adorned with a patchwork of international flags on the press tour for Marvel's upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps. for Disney
Pedro Pascal is another star embracing this modern take, bringing his signature confidence to the trend. While on the press tour for Marvel's upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the actor made a statement in a silk Bode shirt, adorned with a patchwork of international flags – a striking design that also conveyed a striking message in this time of global disunity. The fluid silk gave it a refined drape, while Pascal's styling kept things cool, pairing it with baggy plaid trousers, black leather loafers and clear-frame glasses.
Founded by Emily Adams Bode in 2016, Bode has built a loyal following for its vintage-inspired designs, which celebrate American heritage and traditional craftsmanship. With its detailing and nostalgia-driven aesthetic, the brand has become a go-to for celebrities who appreciate menswear with character –
Pascal among them. For those looking to tap into the trend, Bode offers a range of styles that channel the same energy as Pascal's flag-printed shirt, including a cotton-poplin patchwork style, decorated with a diagonal pattern of squares, inspired by 1930s quilting.

Another brand that has mastered the art of statement shirting is Casablanca. Designed by Paris-born Charaf Tajer, Casablanca is known for its vivid palettes and Mediterranean-inspired prints. The brand frequently draws on the themes of tennis clubs, coastal landscapes and retro surf culture, creating pieces that transition from holiday wear to city dressing. Those looking to experiment with Casablanca's aesthetic can turn to designs like the Tennis Club silk shirt, which reinterprets the brand's signature motif with a surf-inspired twist, or the Psychedelic Nirvana shirt, also woven in silk and featuring pastel hues reminiscent of 1970s airbrushed surfboards.

China's theme park capital to welcome Spider-Man, Harry Potter in tourist economy boon

Shanghai Disneyland is expanding once again, this time with a Spider-Man-themed zone that marks the amusement park's first major Marvel addition. The world's biggest Disney park began construction on the zone – its third major expansion since opening in 2016 – on Monday. It will host a Spider-Man- themed roller-coaster , and follows the opening of a Zootopia-themed attraction in 2023. In addition to Spider-Man, a new Legoland park is set to open in Shanghai in July, as well as two Harry Potter and Peppa Pig amusement parks, both scheduled to open in 2027, according to official announcements earlier. Increasing tourism demand in the world's second-biggest economy is fuelling a boom in international amusement parks in China's gateway megacity, turning Shanghai into a rising global star in themed entertainment, analysts said. The trend comes amid China's efforts to diversify its economy from an investment and export-led model to one more powered by consumption, where leisure and tourism expenditure are increasingly important. The Legoland Shanghai Resort, the world's largest amusement park inspired by the plastic bricks from Danish toymaking giant Lego Group, is set to officially open on July 5, it announced earlier this month. Spanning 318,000 square meters in the suburban Jinshan district, it will be the 11th Legoland globally and features a 250-room themed hotel designed for children, as well as 75 interactive attractions, performances and play areas across eight zones.

Hospital worker Maymay Chu was the first person in line at the cinema in Tsim Sha Tsui, where she said she hoped to purchase VIP tickets for a screening of Marvel's Thunderbolts*. Advertisement 'The seats at this cinema are very comfortable,' she said. 'For HK$30, you can buy tickets for the VIP showing at the cinema that usually cost around HK$200. I wanted to try it out, so I came here today.' 'If it wasn't for that, I would not have come all the way here to queue; movie tickets are HK$30 everywhere else,' the 50-year-old said, adding that she had been standing in line since 8am.
