Express Tribune22-04-2025

Dick Van Dyke, 99, is celebrating over a decade of marriage with wife Arlene Silver, 53, proving that love doesn't come with an age limit.
The iconic entertainer opened up about their 13-year marriage during the couple's Vandy Camp benefit event in Malibu, hosted on April 20 to support the Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Foundation.
'Everybody said it wouldn't work,' Van Dyke said of their relationship, referencing the couple's 46-year age gap. But the actor says their strong connection is what truly matters: 'We get along so well.' Silver echoed the sentiment, adding, 'It's eerie how well it works. People the same age don't last.'
The couple first met in 2006 at the SAG Awards, where Silver was working as a makeup artist. Van Dyke recalls nervously introducing himself for the first time. 'I never said hello to a strange girl in my life. I was too scared. But for some reason, I just jumped up and said, 'Hi, I'm Dick.''
They married in 2012, and according to Silver, they've barely been apart since. 'I'm his security blanket,' she joked. 'He makes me feel like I can do anything.' Van Dyke chimed in, 'And you can.'
Despite the unconventional start and public doubt, their relationship has thrived. 'We love being at home in Malibu,' Silver said. Even after their home was hit by the Franklin fire, the couple feels lucky and grateful.
Now just months from his 100th birthday, Van Dyke continues to show that age-gap love stories can be enduring, inspiring, and stronger than ever.

James Gunn's new Superman trailer and poster match hype of the record-breaking first teaser

Warner Bros. Pictures has unveiled a new trailer and poster for Superman, the highly anticipated film reboot written and directed by DC Studios co-head James Gunn. Scheduled for release on July 11, the film marks the first feature in Gunn's reimagined DC Universe and the first solo Superman film in over a decade. David Corenswet takes on the dual role of Clark Kent/Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan starring opposite him as intrepid journalist Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult appears as Lex Luthor, Superman's iconic adversary, described in the film as a brilliant but dangerous megalomaniac. Rounding out the ensemble cast are Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. The new trailer showcases a Superman who embodies compassion and moral clarity, stopping a war single-handedly before facing arrest—highlighting the internal and external conflicts that define the character. Gunn's signature mix of action, humour, and emotional depth is front and center, offering audiences a fresh take on the legendary hero while staying grounded in the character's core values. Rachel Brosnahan, speaking to Variety at the 2024 SAG Awards, expressed enthusiasm for playing Lois Lane. 'She's smart, ambitious and can be funny,' said Brosnahan. 'She knows she's the smartest person in the room more often than not.' Superman is produced by Gunn and Peter Safran and based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film also features Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell in supporting roles. Behind the scenes, Gunn collaborates with key creatives including cinematographer Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky, and composer John Murphy. Editing is handled by Craig Alpert, Jason Ballantine, and William Hoy. The trailer follows the record-setting first look released in December 2023, which drew over 250 million views online—making it the most-watched DC trailer to date.

Is 'The Four Seasons' returning for season 2 on Netflix?

Netflix's latest comedy The Four Seasons may have launched as a reboot of the 1981 film, but make no mistake, this doesn't feel like a one-and-done limited series. While the original starred Alan Alda and Carol Burnett, the 2025 version has carved its own narrative path, and viewers who've binged all eight episodes know: there's definitely more story to tell. The final episode ends with a somber turn. Nick's (Steve Carell) funeral following a tragic car accident. Just when you think that's the gut-punch of the season, Nick's younger girlfriend, Ginny (Erika Henningsen), delivers another shock: she's pregnant. The bombshell lands especially hard on Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), Nick's ex-wife, who's still processing the grief of losing him. As of May 1, the show hasn't been officially renewed, but the cast is all-in for another round. With a cast that includes Tina Fey, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Colman Domingo, Will Forte, and Marco Calvani, not to mention dreamy lakeside filming locations, it's no surprise that fans (and cast members) are hoping Netflix greenlights more. Kerri Kenney-Silver recently shared how different the series is from the film and what she'd love to explore next with her character: 'We're all dreaming for more. We would do this show till they turn the lights out. It has been the most fulfilling experience for all of us. We all have our fingers crossed, but you never know what's going to happen. I don't care if the next season is in a basement in Dayton, Ohio, and there's some sort of lockdown. I would show up. Selfishly, as an actor, I just want to be around these people. I would follow Tina Fey anywhere.' So for now, all we can do is wait—and rewatch those sunset-soaked scenes while we cross our fingers for Season 2.
