Luka Doncic pays to restore defaced mural of Kobe and Gigi Bryant in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Lakers ' new guard made a $5,000 donation on Tuesday to cover the entire goal of a GoFundMe page created by artist Louie Palsino. He wants to restore the mural, titled 'Mambas Forever', at 14th and Main streets.
'It was always important to give back to the community,' Doncic said after practice at the Lakers' training complex. 'They gave me so much, so I just want to give back.'
The Slovenian superstar joined the Lakers less than three months ago in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks. He teamed with LeBron James to lead the Lakers to the Pacific Division title and the No 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs, but Los Angeles is on the brink of elimination Wednesday night when the Minnesota Timberwolves visit for Game 5 with a 3-1 series lead.
Bryant spent his entire 20-year career with the Lakers, winning five championships and becoming the top scorer in franchise history. After Kobe and Gigi Bryant died in a helicopter crash in January 2020, hundreds of murals and public art projects honoring them sprung up around Southern California.

However, last season top scorer Patrick Schick will continue to lead the line, while Martin Terrier is expected to return to action in the autumn after a serious achilles injury. The latest development leaves Hojlund in an uncertain situation. The Danish international joined United for £72m from Atalanta when Ten Hag was in charge, but was left out of Ruben Amorim's squad for the defeat to Arsenal on Sunday. "It is our player - we have to make choices," head coach Ruben Amorim told BBC Radio 5 Live after the game. "We have players that have to stay helping the team from the outside." Hojlund isn't the only United player who could yet leave the club before the transfer window slams shut on September 1. Jadon Sancho has attracted interest from Serie A and Chelsea are haggling with United on a valuation for Alejandro Garnacho, while we could also see exits for Antony and Tyrell Malacia after the pair were left out of Amorim's squad for the club's pre-season tour. Matheus Cunha started up front for United against Arsenal, with new signing Benjamin Sesko coming off the bench. Slovenian forward Sesko will be knocking on the door for a first start as United travel to Fulham. "Sometimes you can look at the game in many ways. in the first half, Cunha has to go out because the centre backs are very strong," Amorim told Match of the Day after United's weekend defeat. "Then you have Sesko and you have a different type of player and that is important for me that we have players to play different games."

More than £15,000 has been raised on GoFundMe to support Jordon Foy's family in a few short days. The devastated family of a young dad have paid heartfelt tribute to the "generous" family man who died suddenly aged just 32. Jordan Foy, a devoted father to sons Leo, 11, and five-year-old Teddy, passed away on Thursday, August 14. Remembered as a hard worker and a 'fantastic father', his death has sparked an outpouring of grief across the community, reports TeesideLive. In just four days, more than £15,000 has been raised on GoFundMe to support his family and help cover funeral costs, with hundreds sharing touching memories of the dad-of-two. Jordan, from Middlesbrough, was a rigger by trade, and had most recently been working at the Tyne Tunnel and was due to start a new job in Somerset this week. He was described by loved ones as a man full of life, who adored spending time with his boys. His partner, Robyn Morley, told Teesside Live: 'He loved Boro and the football. He loved spending time with his kids and he was so full of life. He was hilarious – he always made us laugh. He loved his parents too, he was an only child and so close to them.' Mum Carol added: 'He loved his family and was so generous and sociable. He had a huge circle of friends from work and outside of it. Growing up he was brilliant, always busy, always out and about, and he adored taking the kids everywhere – holidays, swimming, the seaside, you name it.' Dad Gary said his son's wide circle of friends and the messages flooding social media showed just how loved he was. 'No one could have said a bad word about him – he was just amazing.' One of Jordan's more recent passions was karaoke, after Robyn put his name down for a song while on holiday. What started as a reluctant performance soon became his signature, with Chris Stapleton's Tennessee Whiskey becoming a favourite that he sang everywhere. Jordan Foy, 32, who has been described as a doting dad, lost his life suddenly on Thursday, August 14. In just four days, a GoFundMe has raised more than £15,000 for his funeral expenses and to support his family in the wake of their tragic loss. The Middlesbrough dad-of-two, who worked as a rigger, had recently been working at the Tyne Tunnel and was set to start a new job in Somerset this week. Dad to Leo, 11, and five-year-old Teddy, the former Middlesbrough College student was a "fantastic father" who loved spending time with his boys. His partner Robyn Morley told Teesside Live: "He loved Boro and the football. He loved spending time with his kids and he was so full of life. "He loved his parents, he was an only child and as really close with them. He always made us laugh, it was an everyday occurrence. He was hilarious." His mum, Carol, added: "He loved his family. He loved spending time with everybody. He was always very generous and very sociable. He had millions of friends - work mates, colleagues, people outside of work. "He loved going on holiday and he lived the high life, the finer things in life. Growing up, he was absolutely brilliant. He loved football and played for local teams. "He played for a team called Lemming Lads. He constantly had a full social life from him being very young. We have a big family who love him so much. "He's always been doing stuff, he was non-stop. He'd say 'I'm just going to see so and so, I'm off to see so and so, I won't be long'. He loved taking the kids everywhere - holidays, swimming, the seaside. Every chance he got they did something." Jordan was always surrounded by a massive circle of friends, said dad Gary. "He was an amazing. You can tell by all the things they are doing on social media for him. No one could have said a bad word about him, he was just amazing." His unexpected passing has shook the community and hundreds of heartfelt tributes have flooded social media, reports Teesside Live. Reminiscing about happy memories with the Tollesby dad, Robyn recalled the first time she signed him up for karaoke while on holiday - something that quickly became a regular occurrence. "I'd been up singing and I put his name down and he was fuming at first," she said. "As soon as he got up that was it. That became his new thing, everywhere he went. If there was karaoke was on he was up, he'd sing with anyone." Carol added: "We said Jordan you can actually sing, you're joking aren't you. Then he started singing this song Tennessee Whiskey (by Chris Stapleton) and over the last three years he's sung it everywhere. Everyone knows him for singing it. Now we're having it playing at his funeral and he's singing it on the video. "It was totally out of character at first cause we didn't even know he could sing. It was such a surprise but brilliant." More than 350 people have donated to the Go Fund Me page as his family share their thanks for the support. The page, which has raised £15,845 after an initial target of £2,500 was set, states: "Most of all, Jordan leaves behind his young family, who meant everything to him. "His little boys Leo and Teddy they were his whole world, and Robyn who he was obsessed with. No words can truly capture the pain of this loss, but we can come together to help ease the burden for the family he loved so much." Jordan's funeral will take place at St Bede's Chapel at Teesside Crematorium on Friday, August 29 at 10am. His family have requested attendees wear a splash of blue.
