Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting a reboot - Here's everything we know so far
Get ready for a healthy dose of Nineties nostalgia as another long awaited reboot is heading for our TV screens. Buffy the Vampire Slayer first hit screens back in 1997, with Sarah Michelle Gellar in the titular role of Buffy Summers, a normal teenage girl trying to balance high-school drama and demon hunting, naturally.
Now she's back for more undead carnage as it looks like streaming giant Hulu is giving the show a much-anticipated sequel series, more than 20 years after the final episode aired in 2003. The reboot comes as a host of other Nineties and Noughties classic shows announce similar comebacks including Malcolm in the Middle and Scrubs.
Gellar won't be alone in this project, as an already star-studded team is set to join including Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao. But it might be the executive producer role that is the most surprising of all, with country music legend Dolly Parton set to oversee the project.
The reboot will be scripted by Poker Face writers and sisters Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. While nothing has been said about the plot just yet, we do know Buffy will be a recurring character, but it is likely she will not be the lead of the series.

How to watch the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' reboot in the UK?
Currently the sequel series is nearing its 'pilot order' with Hulu likely to give the show the greenlight following the initial pilot episode.
This does sadly mean we are likely a year or two away from sitting down with the new show. But when it does come, as it is a Hulu show, fans in the UK will likely be able to access the show through a Disney+ subscription.
How to watch the original series in the UK?
Before the highly-anticipated reboot comes you'd better make sure you're up to date on all things demons, angels, Buffy and Spyke.
You can re-watch or binge for the first time (lucky you) the entire original series right now on Disney+.
Who's going to be in the reboot?
Despite making previous comments publicly about not wanting to return to the franchise, Sarah Michelle Gellar's team has confirmed the Scooby-Doo and Cruel Intentions actress will become the chosen one once again. The rest of the original cast has not yet been confirmed to return and no new additions have been announced.
Chloe Zhao, Academy Award-winning director of Nomadland, and self-proclaimed lifelong Buffy fan, has also been announced as the director of the pilot episode. Dolly Parton will be donning the title of executive producer for the sequel. It was her production company, Sandollar, that produced the original series back in the 90's.

'He told me the smoothest area to learn to skateboard is the Walk of Fame,' he said. 'There's not a lot of cracks or breaks between the cement because they're always pouring it in for ceremonies. Katherine Parkinson joins cast for new Harry Potter TV series
Actress Katherine Parkinson has joined the cast of the new Harry Potter TV series. The IT Crowd star will join the HBO TV show of the popular fantasy novel series to play Molly Weasley, the mother of Ron Weasley. Parkinson also starred in the hit Disney+ series Rivals, for which she received a supporting actress Bafta TV nomination for her role as Lizzie Vereker. Joining the cast alongside Parkinson is actor and musician Johnny Flynn, who is best known for playing Mr Knightley in the 2020 film Emma. The 42-year-old will portray antagonist Lucius Malfoy, while The Diary Of A Teenage Girl star Bel Powley will play Petunia Dursley, the aunt of Harry Potter who takes him in and forces him to live under the stairs following his parents' death. Each season of the show will be a faithful adaptation of the Harry Potter books, from author and executive producer JK Rowling. This follows from the popular film adaptations that starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as the protagonists. Actor and comedian Daniel Rigby will also join the cast to play Petunia's husband, Vernon Dursley, while The Crown's Bertie Carvel will portray Cornelius Fudge. Orlando Bloom teases the possibility of 'getting the band back together' for a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie
It's been eight years since the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie - 2017's Dead Men Tell No Tales - and Orlando Bloom is ready to return to the franchise. Bloom shot to fame as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings franchise, and quickly parlayed that into playing Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. There has been talk of a sixth film ever since Dead Me Tell No Tales debuted, with a report in April claiming the next film would be a reboot, possibly without Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. While nothing has been confirmed about a sixth film by Disney yet, producer Jerry Bruckheimer hinted last year that there were two separate Pirates movies being developed, one with Depp and one without. Bloom recently appeared on This Morning, promoting his new film Deep Cover with Bryce Dallas Howard and Nick Mohammed, where he was asked about the future of the franchise. While he admitted that he didn't know anything about a future sequel, he definitely seemed interested in returning. 'Well, I don't know, I can't say anything at the moment because I really don't know, but there's definitely...' and when asked if it was about 'availability,' he said it was, 'nothing like that.' 'I think they're trying to work out what it would all look like, I personally think it'd be great to get the band back together,' Bloom admitted. 'That would be great, but there are always different ideas, and so we'll see where it lands,' Bloom revealed. The franchise clearly still holds a beloved place in Bloom's heart, since he responded to his co-star Keira Knightley's recent comments about the films. She told The Times back in November that the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was, 'making and breaking' her simultaneously. 'I was seen as s*** because of them, and yet because they did so well, I was given the opportunity to do the films that I ended up getting Oscar nominations for,' Knightley said. She added that they were, 'the most successful films I'll ever be a part of, and they were the reason that I was taken down publicly. So they're a very confused place in my head.' Bloom responded in Entertainment Weekly, stating, ''It was such a huge moment in time that is almost like… it feels almost like another lifetime now.' 'I definitely understand where Keira was coming from, and she does wonderful things,' the actor said, 'I have a lot of positive takeaways.' The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise - spawned from the hit Disney theme parks ride of the same name - has grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide. It was also the first ever movie franchise to spawn two separate $1 billion films - Dead Man's Chest ($1.1 billion) and On Stranger Tides ($1.046 billion). While Depp has disappeared from the spotlight for the past few years after his legal battles with Amber Heard, it would be interesting to see if he would in fact return as Captain Jack Sparrow for a new Pirates movie.
