Rape survivor still in trauma as college reopens doors
The survivor's father spoke to TOI in detail on Monday, the day when the law college reopened for the first time after the discovery of the crime. "She keeps asking me just one question: 'What will happen to me if the monster (prime accused Monojit Mishra) gets out of jail?' She is still in severe trauma," he added.
The family was focused on two things — helping the legal process get justice for their daughter and supporting her through this traumatic period — the dad said.
"We want to refrain from commenting on the court's decision (after the trial is over) but we strongly believe that the culprit and his associates should receive the maximum possible punishment," he added.

Cops have arrested Monojit Mishra and two of his associates — Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed — as well as a security guard for the gang rape that occurred on June 25 after Mishra and his aides allegedly forced the girl to the college's union room and the security guards' room.

The law college finally reopened on Monday under heavy police cover and with teachers and other staff reporting for duty; most of them admitted that the scars were yet to heal. One of the professors said no one could avoid responsibility for the crime and admitted that the institute had failed to ensure students' safety.
Classes at the college will resume from Tuesday.

Gang busted for Rs 50 lakh loan fraud using forged salary slips; 2 held in Indore
INDORE: Vijay Nagar police busted a gang involved in large-scale loan fraud using forged salary slips of a reputed company and arrested two men in this connection on Saturday. 'The accused were operating a sophisticated scam by exploiting loopholes in the banking system and presenting themselves as salaried employees of Blue Star Company to secure personal and vehicle loans worth several lakhs from multiple banks,' said ACP Aditya Patle. 'The fraud came to light following a complaint from HDFC Bank, which reported suspicious documents submitted during a loan application. The documents included fake salary slips and account statements showing regular salary credits from Blue Star Company,' he said. During the investigation, it was found that the accused had opened a current account in the name of Blue Star using forged GST and business registration documents under the name of an AC technician associated with the company. They regularly transferred fixed amounts from this fake company account to their own and their associates' accounts, portraying them as monthly salaries. The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar Pal (32), a resident of Sadar Pur, Noida, and Devendra Singh (30), a resident of Aanshal Town, Meerut. 'Ravi Pal used similar tactics by manipulating Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers. He convinced an acquaintance, Shailesh Ahirwar, to link his (Ravi's) number to Shailesh's Aadhaar card. Later, he used OTPs to update Shailesh's address to Indore and created a fake PAN card in Shailesh's name with his own photograph. Using this identity, he opened a bank account, produced forged salary slips, and secured another Rs 11 lakh loan from a private bank,' he said. The accused are believed to have previously defrauded several banks of nearly Rs 50 lakh. Encouraged by past success, they attempted another loan using similar methods when HDFC's internal verification raised suspicion, prompting a police complaint. Both accused have been produced before court and are currently in police custody for further interrogation. Investigators are now probing the extent of the scam and identifying other possible accomplices.

Surat man held at Ahmedabad airport for travelling on fake passport
Ahmedabad: A Surat resident was arrested at the Ahmedabad airport on Friday for allegedly travelling on a fraudulently obtained Indian passport. Pramod Ithape, security assistant at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport registered a complaint against Prakashkumar Dave, a resident of Punagam in Surat. Ithape stated that on Friday, Dave, holding Indian Emergency Certificate No. X1022911 approached for immigration clearance after arriving from Berlin via Qatar on a Qatar Airways flight. The certificate had been issued in Berlin on May 27 this year and was valid until Nov 26. Ithape found no departure details against Dave's passport. When asked how he had departed from India, Dave allegedly told him that he had travelled to Paris from Delhi in Jan this year. The complainant stated that on further inquiry, Dave confessed that he had fraudulently obtained an Indian passport in the name of Rakesh Joshi, a Mumbai resident, allegedly with the help of two agents, whom he named as Mahesh and Dishu. He reportedly admitted to have travelled to Berlin on the fake passport for which he had paid the agents Rs 15 lakh.
