What do you do when an accusation, a scandal, could put everything you worked for in jeopardy? That's what Julia Roberts is facing in her new movie, After the Hunt. Amazon MGM Studios released the first trailer for their new crime thriller about an esteemed college professor, Alma Olsson (Roberts), who must confront a dark secret from her past after her star pupil, Maggie Price (Ayo Edebiri), accuses her colleague, Hank Gibson (Andrew Garfield), of assaulting her. 'Hank walked me home. He asked for a nightcap, which is fine, you know, everyone loves Hank,' Maggie stutters out to Alma in the trailer.

‘NYT Mini' Clues And Answers For Wednesday, July 23

Mini Crossword Looking for the answers to Tuesday's NYT Mini? Check them out here: The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper's larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays. Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you'll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives. The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can't quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer. Dozens of peacocks and peahens go missing from Northern California hotel

Missing Peacocks WALNUT GROVE, Calif. (AP) — Dozens of peacocks and peahens known for wandering the grounds of a historic Art Deco hotel in the Sacramento Delta are missing, and the hotel staff said Tuesday they believe the birds were stolen. After a customer at the Ryde Hotel mentioned Sunday seeing two men grabbing one of the birds and putting it inside a cage on the bed of a pickup truck, the staff did a count and realized only four of their exotic birds remained, David Nielsen, the hotel's general manager, said. 'We're not sure why anyone would do anything like this, but the staff is absolutely heartbroken,' Nielsen said. Authorities are investigating the case as a property crime. The male birds are valued at $2,000 each and the peahens at $1,000 each, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson at the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. He didn't share any additional information. The owner purchased five of the birds to wander the grounds 14 years ago. They reproduced 'to the point that they became a signature of the hotel,' Nielsen said. Peacocks are common in Art Nouveau design. Staff fed them leftovers of filet mignon, prime rib and salmon, and over time, the birds became tamer. They got used to people, and the employees began seeing them as pets, even naming some of them. Rafe Goorwitch, the hotel's catering coordinator, said he fed a group of about 15 peafowls twice every day. He named the biggest one Alibaba, Baba for short, because he would walk through the hotel like he owned the place. 'I joked with the owner that we worked for Baba because he would walk through the dinner rooms, the ballrooms and the garden with this attitude that he was the boss,' Goorwitch said. Peacocks tend to be aloof, but Baba "became like a dog,' he said. Since the news about the missing birds became public, people have been calling the hotel with tips and possible sightings, including reports of neighbors with new peacock pets, Nielsen said. Hotel staff are hoping the birds are found and returned home. For now, the hotel has added better and more surveillance cameras, and there are plans to add more fencing. 'They really meant a lot to us,' Nielsen said. ___ Rodriguez reported from San Francisco. Solve the daily Crossword

Vehicle that struck wanted man during Butler pursuit was driven by Mayor Wesley Dingus, police say

BUTLER, Ohio (WJW) — Authorities on Monday said that Butler Mayor Wesley Dingus was behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck a wanted man who was fleeing from police earlier this month. Bellville Police Department Chief Jon Fletcher at a Monday morning news briefing said his agency was asked to conduct an impartial investigation. 2 teenagers killed, 1 hurt in Cleveland crash: police Dingus claimed the collision was an accident, Fletcher said. Bellville police did not file charges, but turned over their findings to the Richland County prosecutor for possible charges, Fletcher said Monday. 'I'm not here to determine if he did it intentionally or unintentionally. We are here to provide a non-biased, fact-based report for the Richland County Prosecutor,' Fletcher said. The FOX 8 I-Team previously reported the incident happened at about 7 p.m. on July 11. The wanted man, Anthony Ward, was in a vehicle with his grandmother and another woman just moments before the incident took place. His grandmother told a 911 dispatcher that she pulled over because a red vehicle was following her. She said moments after she stopped her vehicle, a Butler village police officer came up to the car, and her grandson took off running. Security video obtained by the I-Team shows Ward running and a red car following him and striking him. 'They ran over him twice and were trying to tell me that can be that way,' the grandmother told the dispatcher. The grandmother asked for the Richland County Sheriff's Office to send a deputy to the scene, but the dispatcher said police were already on scene. 'Yes, but they are the ones that ran over him,' the woman told the dispatcher. 'Make Indians Great Again': President Trump urges Guardians to restore former name The dispatch records also state that Ward was injured and may have a broken leg. The I-Team has also asked for police body camera video and dash camera video, but that information has not yet been released. Ward was released from prison in February after serving time for a sexual battery charge. According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction website, he was wanted by the Adult Parole Authority when officers tried to arrest him Friday. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
