Vicky Pattison says 'I'm not proud of it' as she opens up on 'turning point'
Vicky Pattison, the ex-Geordie Shore star turned podcaster, has candidly shared an update on her struggle with vaping with her fans.
On her Get A Grip podcast, the former queen of the jungle confessed to co-host Angela Scanlon that she's picked up the e-cigarette habit again. She explained: "Giving up things is really hard. I can't remember the specific turning point. Last week... it's always emotions with me. Like, I know I'm doing that... I'm craving relaxation.
"In a world where I can't cultivate it naturally because my schedule's a bit unrelenting, I'm doing it synthetically. I think I will give it up at some point, I am really trying."
She admitted to a setback in her efforts: "I was about five, six days in, but then it all unravelled. So I'm back vaping. I'm not proud of it, but it's who I am. I am a vapist!"
At 37, Vicky isn't alone in her vaping woes; other celebs like Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway and musician Matt Willis have also opened up about their own struggles last year, according to Chronicle Live.
Garraway revealed her own vaping journey, stating she had stopped before her stint on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! — only to find herself hooked once more. On Good Morning Britain, she shared: "The last thing I want to do is in any way sanction [vaping], because I don't now. But my experience was, after Billy was born, I did smoke before and I was craving going back to smoking [but] didn't want to.
"I thought it was amazing, because it didn't smell, at that point you could do it anywhere, it must have been like smoking in the 70s — you didn't have to stand outside. Everybody said it was better for you, and I did feel much better. I got the nicotine hit."
However, after her stint in the jungle, she confessed that she fell back into vaping — a habit reignited by a segment on Good Morning Britain.
Kate said: "I think we had some props in here or something ridiculous, and I picked it up and I was instantly addicted — like, beyond anything! I couldn't believe it, and it made me realise how particularly those disposable ones are so addictive."
In a similar struggle, Matt Willis opened up about his own issues with vaping during an appearance on the On The Mend podcast, where he recounted a telling-off he received from a pal during a round of golf for being covert about his habit — notably from his wife, Emma.
Matt detailed the encounter, saying: "I try to live a very honest life. For instance, I was recently playing golf with a mate of mine, and he's in recovery, and I was vaping on the golf course, and he was like: 'Does your wife know you do that?'"
He shared his response: "I was like, 'No, I only do it when I'm at golf and I do it when I'm with the band, so I don't do it at home or around the family.' So he was like, 'You lie about it.' I was like, 'I don't lie about it, I just don't talk about it.' He was like, 'So you're holding something from people, you're keeping a secret.'"
Matt candidly opened up about his vaping habit, confessing that he'd often sneak in puffs both during the day and at peculiar hours of the night.
He detailed: "Before I knew it, I was doing three to four a day of these disposable vapes. I was even doing it on stage. I was walking to the back of the stage and vaping, thinking no one could see me."
He added: "I'd wake up in the middle of the night and go for a wee and vape in the toilet in my hotel room on my own and then go try and get back to sleep."
Remember to tune into Channel 4's Sunday Brunch featuring Vicky Pattison, which kicks off at 10am today (June 22).

Wimbledon diary: Queen visits Royal Box while Fabio Fognini calls it a day
Camilla was joined in the Royal Box by actor Hugh Grant – who appeared to have a bit of a doze at one point – former prime minister John Major and ex-Sri Lanka cricketer Kumar Sangakkara Another cricket star, India's Virat Kohli, was in the crowd while women's football boss Emma Hayes took in the action on Court One. Flamboyant Italian Fabio Fognini announced his retirement in the Wimbledon media theatre. The 38-year-old's final match was a memorable first-round five-setter against Carlos Alcaraz on day one. He said: 'That's the best decision, to play in the most beautiful court in the world with a guy that everybody knows. It's the perfect picture that we'll keep forever in my room.' 🗣️ "Ladies and gentlemen, when you open your champagne bottles please do not pop the cork onto the court" 😳 Champagne cork drama at #Wimbledon 🍾 — BBC Sport (@BBCSport) July 9, 2025 Play was momentarily held up in a doubles match for the most Wimbledon reason possible. Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash's win over fellow Briton Henry Patten and Finland's Harri Heliovaara was interrupted by a champagne cork landing on the court. A ballkid scurried on to remove the offending object while umpire Miriam Bley issued a polite verbal warning to spectators. Big-serving Ben Shelton had just sent a couple of 139mph aces whizzing past Jannik Sinner when someone in the crowd shouted 'give us 140'. The American obliged, and then some, by booming down a serve clocked at 147mph. Unfortunately, it was out. Hayes swapped the dugout for the players' box as a guest of Shelton. The former Chelsea boss is now in charge of the United States national team, for whom Shelton's girlfriend Trinity Rodman plays. A glass or two of Pimm's is certainly a step up from a plastic cup of Bovril at Stamford Bridge. It's all got a bit too much for Hugh Grant 😴😂#Wimbledon — BBC Sport (@BBCSport) July 9, 2025 'I started some fiction book by Elena Ferrante. And he took to Instagram from his hospital bed on Wednesday to issue an emotional update on his ordeal, which resulted in him losing over a THREE-AND-A-HALF stone. He said: "Whenever this is all the way over, I actually just read through my wife's journal 'cause I don't remember anything from May 28th to July 2. The mixed martial arts and wrestling community rallied around the Askren family in his time of need, with UFC president Dana White making a public appeal to donate to the funds required for the operation. A £368,000 donation from an unknown donor helped Askren receive the life-saving operation. He said of the support: "The thing that was most impactful to me was all the love I felt from everybody and it's almost like I got to have my own funeral. Advertisement "I still remember it 30 years ago when Dave Phillips died and you listen to all these older people, you know, recollect. "[About] how much they enjoy them, how much they love them. And you know, obviously, he never had to hear that. I only died four times. The ticker stopped for about 20 second Ben Askren "The outpouring of love from the wrestling community was just amazing. It felt so good." Once he's fully recovered, Askren plans to return to his day job coaching the next generation of wrestlers in Wisconsin. It's been tough not only on me, but my whole family and my close community. "So I appreciate everything. I hope you guys appreciate the update. "And like I said, sometime down the road, maybe Amy and I can detail everything a little more." Advertisement THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..
