Libyan PM Dbeibah offers $70 billion economic partnership to US President's advisor
Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah met on Wednesday in Tripoli with the advisor to the US President Donald Trump for African affairs, Massad Boulos, to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation in the fields of energy, minerals, infrastructure, healthcare, and telecommunications. According to the Prime Minister's media office, Dbeibah emphasized the National Unity Government's keenness to build economic partnerships with the US that would pave the way for major American companies to participate in development and investment projects. The office added that the Libyan government team presented a detailed proposal outlining strategic economic partnership opportunities worth approximately $70 billion. These include ready-to-launch projects in the sectors of energy, minerals, electricity, infrastructure, and telecommunications, providing a structured and direct pathway for US investment in the Libyan market. The meeting also addressed recent developments in Libya's oil sector, particularly regarding new opportunities in both offshore and onshore blocks, as well as ongoing efforts to boost transparency and achieve sustainable returns within a stable energy framework. Discussions extended to the Palestinian issue, as Dbeibah - according to his media office - strongly condemned the crimes, starvation, and ongoing aggression faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza. Dbeibah also stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, lifting of the blockade, and protection of civilians from the ravages of war. Meanwhile, Boulos expressed the US administration's support for stability efforts in Libya, reaffirming Washington's interest in continuing coordination and expanding areas of cooperation with the National Unity Government. Boulos arrived in Tripoli earlier on Wednesday as part of a visit aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring prospects for strategic partnership between the two countries.

EU may link migration talks with Libya to visa access for Libyans, EU Commissioner says
European Commissioner for Migration, Magnus Brunner, has indicated that the European Union may consider tying migration negotiations with Libya to other issues such as development aid and facilitating visa access for Libyan citizens. In an interview with Politico, Brunner explained that the growing influence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Libya has left the EU with limited options, prompting engagement with Khalifa Haftar and a broader reconsideration of Europe's migration diplomacy strategy. Brunner expressed readiness to negotiate directly with Haftar to prevent Russia from weaponizing migration, emphasizing the EU's deepening concern over Moscow's expanding foothold in Libya.
