India U-19's rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi endured a rare failure, getting dismissed for a golden duck on Day 4 of the second Youth Test against England U-19 at Chelmsford.
The 14-year-old prodigy, who lit up the 2025 IPL season with
Rajasthan Royals
, faced a harsh reminder of Test cricket's challenges when he mistimed an aggressive pull shot off the very first ball he faced from England's Alex Green, chopping it onto his stumps.
The early blow left India under pressure as they began their daunting chase of 355 runs on the final day.

Despite his failure, skipper Ayush Mhatre took charge of the chase with a blistering counterattack.
Displaying remarkable composure and controlled aggression, Mhatre smashed 13 4s and six sixes to race to 126 runs, lifting India's spirits and keeping the chase alive.
Mhatre's 126 off 80 balls at a staggering strike rate of 157.50 was the highlight of the innings, unsettling the English bowlers and injecting hope into an improbable chase.
Meanwhile, Vihaan Malhotra and wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu provided valuable support, rotating strike and ensuring the scoreboard kept ticking.
While the road to victory remains steep, India's fearless batting approach in the second innings stands out.
Mhatre's heroics, in particular, have caught attention, especially after his recent stint with
Chennai Super Kings
in the IPL.

ENG vs IND, fourth Test: Jadeja, Washington refuse Ben Stokes' offer to call off match before start of mandatory overs

Drama unfolded in the high-intensity Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in Manchester on Sunday (July 27, 2025) after Indian batters Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar refused England skipper Ben Stokes' offer to call off the fourth Test and settle for a draw before the start of the final hour of play. There is a provision that allows both captains to shake hands and agree to a draw if they feel that the possibility of a result is impossible. Having worked hard to earn a creditable draw, Jadeja and Washington, batting on 89 and 80 respectively, refused Stokes' offer after he had approached the umpire, which irked the England skipper no end. With both approaching their hundreds after having saved the match for India who started their second innings 311 runs in arrears, Jadeja and Washington exercised their rights to continue batting. India coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Shubman Gill backed the decision to carry on batting. "If someone is batting on 90 and the other one is batting on 85, don't they deserve a hundred? Would they have walked off if someone from England's side would have been batting on 90 or 85? "If someone has the opportunity to get his first Test hundred, won't you allow him to do it? They weathered the storm. It's up to them," Gambhir said at the post-match press conference. "If they want to play that way, that's up to them. I've got nothing more to say. I think both those guys deserved a hundred, and fortunately they got it." On his part, Gill said, "It was up to the boys and both of them were in their 90s, they deserved to score centuries." In the field of play earlier, Stokes had a few words to say as Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett were also seen enquiring as to why India wanted to carry on. "Do you want to score a hundred against Harry Brook?" Stokes asked sarcastically and all Jadeja said was "I can't do anything." Stokes said later, "We took the game as far as we could. As soon as draw looked inevitable, I wasn't going to risk my bowlers with the short turnaround (time of three days before the start of fifth Test)." Amid the drama, a smiling Jadeja maintained his grace and ticked the English players off as India, as per rules, were well within their rights to carry on batting. In what seemed like a mark of protest, Stokes introduced Harry Brook into the attack and Jadeja hit him for a six to complete his third Test hundred. However, England team's poor attitude was at the forefront as they started bowling proverbial long hops or "donkey drops" as a mark of protest.

Ice Cube ignites backlash after choosing Caitlin Clark over Angel Reese for $5 million (Image via Getty) Angel Reese fans hoping to see her land a massive $5 million offer from Ice Cube's BIG3 basketball league might be disappointed. Even though the league offered that huge amount to Caitlin Clark earlier this year, it looks like Angel Reese won't be getting the same deal. And now, Ice Cube himself has made it clear why. Ice Cube says Caitlin Clark deal made financial sense, but not Angel Reese This week, on July 25, 2025, Ice Cube was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). TMZ Sports asked him if Angel Reese would get a similar offer to Clark. His answer was simple no. Not because he doesn't support Reese, but because the business side of things just doesn't make it work. Ice Cube, the co-founder of the BIG3 league, said he had no personal problem with Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. He said he respects her as a player. But he explained that sponsors told him Caitlin Clark would bring in big money and that same excitement wasn't promised with Angel Reese. 'They didn't tell us the same thing about Angel Reese,' Cube told TMZ Sports during the brief interview at LAX. The BIG3 had offered Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark $5 million in March 2024 to play in their 3-on-3 league while still playing in the WNBA. That agreement never materialized, though. Rather, Clark decided to concentrate on her first WNBA season. Angel Reese continues strong WNBA season without BIG3 offer Angel Reese is enjoying an amazing first year in the WNBA.
