BREAKING: Jasper Wiese receives hefty ban
Wiese will be back in contention for selection for the last three ugby Championship matches in September and October.
The ban will rule him out of the closing Incoming Series match against Georgia in Nelspruit on Saturday, as well as the first three Rugby Championship Tests against Australia in Johannesburg and Cape Town respectively (16 and 23 August), and the first game against New Zealand in Auckland (6 September).

He will be free to play the second All Blacks Test in Wellington (13 September), and the two matches against Argentina in Durban and London (27 September and 4 October).

Tests, training camp set Boks up for Championship defence: Erasmus
Rassie Erasmus says the Springboks are gearing up for a testing Rugby Championship campaign, which kicks off against the Wallabies at Ellis Park on August 16. The Bok coach stressed the importance of their two-week training camp saying it was vital in ensuring the coaches, players, and entire management team were aligned and prepared for the competition. The Springboks won the prestigious tournament for the first time since 2019 last year in an impressive campaign in which they suffered only one defeat – against Argentina by a single point in Santiago del Estero. Erasmus' charges will aim to defend their title this year and retain the Freedom Cup against the All Blacks and Nelson Mandela Challenge Plate against the Wallabies. The Boks begin their campaign with back-to-back Tests against Australia in Johannesburg and Cape Town, before facing the All Blacks in successive matches in Auckland and Wellington. The Boks, after a four-match winning run this season from their victories against the Barbarians and an Incoming Series clean-sweep against Italy (two Tests) and Georgia, have worked on the Rugby Championship squad further in their training camp. Erasmus admitted that this week's training camp was not originally part of their schedule, but he said it would benefit the team on several fronts. 'These two weeks of camp will give us time to align as coaches, as well as on the conditioning aspects for the players and to take stock from a medical perspective. These are the 13 Springboks in the World Rugby Hall of Fame
World Rugby has announced the next four players will be inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2025. This year's inductees will bring the total in the Hall of Fame to 175 since it began in 2006. The contributions of former Wallaby fullback Matthew Burke and England and British and Irish Lions flanker Richard Hill will be celebrated at a special event in Sydney, with two yet-to-be-named female players then inducted during Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 in England, at the Women's Summit on 26 September. South Africa has 13 former players, two ex-Springbok coaches and even a former president in the World Rugby Hall of Fame. By way of comparison, New Zealand has 24 inductees, Australia 20 (including Matthew Burke), England 24 (including Richard Hill) and France 13. Paarl Gimnasium vs Paarl Boys' High: Kick-off time CONFIRMED
Paarl will come to a standstill this weekend when Paarl Gimnasium and Paarl Boys' High do battle to determine South Africa's No 1 rugby school in 2025. Both sides have had stellar seasons to date and stand head-and-shoulders above every other school in the country. But they haven't faced one another. Yet. That will all change on Saturday, 2 August at Faure Street Stadium in Paarl when, if reports are to be believed, somewhere between 20 000 and 25 000 spectators are expected. Old boys from both schools are said to be flying in from around the world to attend. Kick-off has been confirmed for 16:00 and the match will be screened live on SuperSport channel 216. Meanwhile, for those interested, the First XI hockey match between the two schools will take place on the Paarl Gimnasium Astro on Saturday, 2 August at 10:30. In terms of the number of Springboks produced by each school, Paarl Gimnasium lead 31-26. The last Paarl Gimnasium Springbok was John Grobbelaar (#939 – out of 952), while Paarl Boys' High's most recent green and gold old boy was Cameron Hanekom (#945). Both schools boast a who's-who of Springbok old boys from Jan Pickard, Jean de Villiers, Schalk Burger (senior and junior), Kobus Wiese and Handre Pollard (all Paarl Gimnasium) to Boy Louw, Ryk van Schoor, Mannetjies Roux, Carel du Plessis, Corne Krige, Frans Malherbe and Thomas du Toit (all Paarl Boys' High).
