Matthew Dawson will circumnavigate the Isle of Wight three times in 72 hours, with one lap each dedicated to swimming, cycling, and running. His bold mission is aimed at raising funds for Access Sport, a national charity that champions inclusive community sports. The challenge, starting on August 23, will see Matthew cover more than 310km, including a 100km open water swim, a 105km road cycle, and a 107km ultra-marathon. "Every donation helps create safe, welcoming spaces for children who've been left out for too long." The funds raised will contribute towards Access Sport's goal of supporting 50,000 young people annually by 2027. The charity focuses on empowering disabled and disadvantaged young people. New disc golf course opens to public in Swindon

A new disc golf course has opened at Basset Down Complex in Swindon. The disc golf course is now open to the public and joins the other activities offered by the complex, including footgolf, a Toptracer driving range, padel courts, and a restaurant and bar. Owner of Basset Down Complex Juliette Nutland said: "Disc golf is a fantastic addition to what we offer here. "It's active, inclusive, easy to learn and perfect for making the most of the outdoors — whether you're with young children, teens, or adults. "And being able to follow your game with a great meal or drink on the terrace makes it a brilliant full day out." Read more: Anger at 'daylight robbery' of retirement home fees and charges Like traditional golf or footgolf, the aim of disc golf is to complete each hole in as few shots as possible. However, instead of balls and clubs, players throw discs towards raised metal baskets. The complex's new disc golf course has two custom-designed courses built on the existing footgolf layout so the two sports can be played simultaneously. Discs can be hired on-site, and players will receive a scorecard or can use an app called UDISC for digital scoring and maps. After a round, players can relax and refuel in the on-site restaurant and bar, which features a balcony and outdoor patio area. The restaurant serves a seasonal menu made with locally sourced ingredients, along with a dedicated children's menu, cakes, Rays Ice Cream, and snacks. For those looking to enjoy a host of activities, Basset Down also offers footgolf, a driving range, and padel. To play disc golf, players can either turn up on the day or book a time slot online or by phone.
