US hyphenating India, Pakistan; PM must drop 'stubbornness' and call special session of Parliament: Congress
Recently, the head of the US Central Command also stated that Pakistan is a "great partner" of America in the fight against terrorism, Ramesh said.
"The Modi government is saying that Operation Sindoor is still going on. In such a situation, the Pakistani army chief's participation as a guest in the US Army Day is definitely a matter of serious concern," he said.
Ramesh said the Trump administration is constantly making statements which can only be interpreted to mean that it is "hyphenating" India and Pakistan.
"The prime minister is welcoming the delegation that returned after informing the entire world, including the US, about Pakistan's role in supporting terrorism, and at the same time, such news is coming from Washington DC makes India's diplomatic position even more uncomfortable," Ramesh said.
"The prime minister should now leave aside his stubbornness and concern for prestige and call an all-party meeting and a special session of Parliament, so that the nation can clearly express its collective will and a concrete roadmap can be presented to the country," he said.
Decades of diplomatic progress cannot be allowed to be weakened so easily, he added.
With US Army General Michael Kurilla, Commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), calling Pakistan a "phenomenal partner" in the counterterrorism world, the Congress on Wednesday asked what PM Modi had to say about this and whether it was not a "diplomatic setback".

Ahmedabad Flight Crash: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reached Ahmedabad to take stock of situation after London-bound Air India flight, AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (registration VT-ANB), crashed minutes after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing at least 265 individuals. After reaching the airport, the Prime Minister, accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, visited the crash site in the Meghaninagar area and Ahmedabad Civil Hospital to take stock of situation. PM Modi earlier said he was 'stunned" by the tragedy. 'It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected," he said on X on Thursday. On Thursday Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu had visited the site to take stock of the situation. The Centre has formed a high-level committee to probe the crash, Kinjarapu said. Ahmedabad Plane Crash India witnessed one of its worst aviation tragedies on Thursday after a London-bound Air India plane, carrying 242 passengers and crew, including former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, crashed into a medical college complex shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport. In an early morning post on X at 12.41am on Friday, Air India confirmed that 241 people had perished in the crash. A police official told news agency PTI that 265 bodies had been brought to the hospital. The plane had crashed into the mess area of a medical college hostel, causing what appears to be at lease two dozen fatalities on the ground. At around 1:38 pm, videos of the aircraft showed it flying low over a residential area and struggling to gain altitude. Within minutes, it hits the ground and explodes in a massive ball of fire. What seems to have compounded the impact was the fact that the airliner was loaded with aviation fuel since it was set to fly all the way to London. Officials said the flight lost altitude soon after taking off at around 1.30pm, before crashing into the residential quarters of BJ Medical College doctors in Meghaninagar area and going up in flames, sending plumes of thick black smoke spiralling up in the air. One person survived the tragedy. The lone survivor was identified as Indian-origin British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh who was returning to the UK with his brother Ajay Kumar Rakesh, 45, who was in a different row inside the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The aircraft had 232 passengers and 10 crew members, including 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese and a Canadian, on board. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a statement said the aircraft piloted by captain Sumeet Sabharwal with 8,200 hours of experience and first officer Clive Kundar with 1,100 hours of experience made a mayday call just before the crash. AITUC stages dharna against privatisation of VSP
Tirupati: Opposing the government's move to privatise Vizag Steel plant and also its anti-labour policies, the AITUC staged a dharna at the collec-torate here on Thursday. The AITUC called for a nation-wide dharna against the Centre's four labour codes replacing the previous 44 Labour Act, affecting the working class and also privatisation and dilution of Public Sector Un-dertaking (PSU). Addressing the gathering, CPI State secretariat member Harinath Reddy said the BJP-led NDA government after coming to power taken up privatisation of PSUs and not spared even profit making units, solely with the aim to benefit the corporates against the interest of large number of employees and workers. The Vizag Steel plant was achieved after a long struggle and after sac-rifice of 32 people. But ignoring the sentiments of people of Andhra Pradesh, the Modi government clandestinely going ahead with Vizag Steel plant privatisation brushing aside the opposition from the peo-ple and political parties, he criticised. The four labour codes brought by the Centre snatched away the job security and also many rights including eight hours duty, right to strike etc. He said the national trade unions decided to intensify the stir against the anti-labour policies of both State and Central gov-ernments. The AITUC leader demanded the steel plant management to take back the contract workers, who were removed from the service. He ap-pealed to the employees and workers to join in the general strike called on July 9 by the trade unions to force the Centre to withdraw the four labour codes.
