Dejan Kulusevski — knee injury and surgery
Dejan Kulusevski has been a key figure for Tottenham this season with 10 goals and 11 assists across 50 appearances.
He suffered a knee injury during Spurs' 2-0 home defeat against FA cup heroes Crystal Palace on May 11, 2025.
The Swedish international was forced off the pitch in the after 19 minutes, with subsequent medical evaluations revealing damage to his right patella.
Kulusevski underwent surgery on his knee shortly after the injury, which has ruled him out for the remainder of the season, including the Europa League final.

At first Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said: 'It should be okay. Just talking to him after, the medical team's not too concerned with him.
It's more of a knock than anything else... We're hopeful it will be fine. I can't say for sure, though.'
However, after further assessment and surgery, Ange confirmed the the news his side's fans were fearing: 'Initially we thought it wasn't too serious but it blew up the day after.
"He's had the surgery, which will put him out for at least a few months.'

On whether Kulusevski would be ready for the start of next season, he added: 'We'll see. I currently have only basic details regarding his recovery, but it will definitely keep him out for a considerable period.'
James Maddison — season-ending knee injury
James Maddison, another creative force in Tottenham's midfield, has also been ruled out of the Europa League final due to a knee injury.

Maddison sustained the injury during the first leg of the semi-final against Bodø/Glimt at the start of May.
Despite his instrumental role in Spurs' European campaign, both scoring and assisting in key knockout matches, Maddison's season was abruptly ended by this setback.

Tottenham confirmed he would not return before the end of the season.
The midfielder expressed his disappointment publicly, stating he was 'absolutely gutted' to miss out on the club's biggest match in years.

"We've had our sights on that European final in Bilbao from day one."
He added: "But I truly believe it can be a special night for my football club. Bring on the 21st. All together."
His absence leaves a significant creative void in Spurs' lineup for the final.
Impact on Tottenham's lineup
The loss of both Kulusevski and Maddison is a major blow for Tottenham.

Both players have been central to the team's attacking play and their injuries have forced Ange to rethink his approach for the final.
In addition to these two, Spurs are also missing Lucas Bergvall (ankle injury) and Timo Werner (hamstring injury) from the squad named for the knockout stages.
Nevertheless, Tottenham will look to rally around their available squad members in hopes of securing their first major trophy since 2008.

PSG star 'tempted' by Man Utd transfer as Ruben Amorim considers major change
Manchester United no longer has the pull it once had but a PSG star is nonetheless willing to leave the Champions League winners to join the Premier League strugglers. United endured a miserable 2025-26 campaign under Erik ten Hag and his successor Ruben Amorim, finishing just 15th in the Premier League table, some 24 points outside the Champions League places. The Red Devils fared better in Europe but losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final means Manchester United will not be involved in any European competition next season. Paris Saint-Germain, in contrast, enjoyed a stunning 12 months, winning their first ever Champions League trophy and a domestic double under Luis Enrique. One of the key members of Enrique's squad, despite the abundance of attacking talent in Paris, was Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. The 26-year-old European Championship winner produced a string of superb saves in PSG's Champions League knockout wins over Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal. Given Donnarumma's influence in the French capital, it is a surprise that he has entered the final 12 months of his contract with PSG and yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. L'Equipe say contract talks began 'several months ago' but a positive outcome is still yet to be reached, with Donnarumma's camp said to be disappointed by the terms offered in earlier offers. The French outlet say a number of clubs are monitoring Donnarumma's situation, with Manchester United and Manchester City showing interest in bringing the shot-stopper to the Premier League. It is claimed Donnarumma is 'tempted' by switches to both clubs and has even discussed a move to the Premier League with some of his international teammates. United's interest in Donnarumma suggests Amorim is considering replacing current Old Trafford No. 1 Andre Onana, who endured an inconsistent season in Manchester. Onana featured in a Champions League final shortly before his £47m move from Inter Milan but has largely struggled at Manchester United. Man City, meanwhile, are looking for a long-term replacement for Ederson, who has spent almost a decade at the Etihad Stadium, lifting six league title. The 31-year-old Brazilian has been one of the best goalkeepers in the worldsince joining Manchester City but appears to be on the decline approaching his 32nd birthday. Asked about his future at PSG after lifting the Champions League trophy, Donnarumma said: 'I don't know yet what's going to happen. 'I haven't decided anything. For the moment, I want to focus on the matches with the national team, and nothing else. 'I will discuss the situation at the club in the coming days with the management and my staff. For now, it's still too early.' More Trending Donnarumma is not the only PSG player being linked with Manchester United. His teammate Goncalo Ramos has reportedly been offered to Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Amorim is desperate to sign a new striker this summer and Portugal international Ramos would be a cheaper alternative to Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko. Ramos, 23, scored 18 goals for PSG last season and has nine goals in 15 games for Portugal. Manchester United considered a move for Ramos before his move to PSG in 2023 and Bruno Fernandes was at the time full of praise for his compatriot. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Tottenham sack women's head coach Robert Vilahamn
Tottenham have sacked women's first team head coach Robert Vilahamn after two years in charge. Vilahamn led the club to an FA Cup final in his first season at the club alongside a sixth place finish but Tottenham have decided to part ways with the 42-year-old after Spurs finished second-bottom in the Women's Super League this campaign. Advertisement The Swedish coach joined in 2023 and was handed a three-year contract extension last July but only relegated Crystal Palace conceded more goals than Vilahamn's side in a disappointing season. Tottenham managing director Andy Rogers said: 'There have been some special moments during Robert's tenure, including reaching the FA Cup final for the first time. 'However, results and performances this season have not been to the level we would expect and now is the right time to make a change. 'We should like to thank Robert for his professionalism and efforts over the past two seasons, and we wish him well for the future.' Advertisement

Pochettino took Tottenham to a Champions League final (Adam Davy/PA) The Argentinian signed a two-year contract to become US head coach last September and is expected to lead the team into next year's home World Cup. Speaking after his side's 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkey in Connecticut, Pochettino told reporters: 'After I left in 2019, every time that I was free, and the place of the position of the manager or head coach in Tottenham Hotspur, my name is appearing on the list. 'If you have seen the rumours, I think there are 100 coaches in the list. I think, don't be worried about that. Postecoglou was sacked 16 days after guiding the club to European success (Andrew Milligan/PA) 'If something happened, for sure you will see, but we cannot talk about this type of thing, because I think today, it's not real. It's not realistic. 'Look at where I am, where we are. And the thing is, the answer is so clear, no? But we're talking about it because it's my club, like Newells or Espanyol.' Meanwhile Tottenham have exercised the 12-month option in Ben Davies' deal to keep him at the club for another season. Davies is Spurs' longest serving player after he joined in the summer of 2015 – two months before the arrival of Son Heung-min. We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Ben Davies' contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026 🤍 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) June 8, 2025 Wales defender Davies has made 358 appearances for Tottenham and is set to work under his sixth permanent head coach at the club during the 2025-26 campaign after Postecoglou's dismissal on Friday. 'It wasn't necessarily sorted today so I haven't been too stressed about it,' Davies said ahead of Wales' World Cup qualifier in Belgium. 'I'm looking forward to another year there.' On Postecoglou's departure, Davies added: 'From a player standpoint, you don't tend to have too much input into those decisions. 'For us, we read about the news as you did. As players, we have to move on and do the job that is in front of us, and it's no different this time.' Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been installed as the bookmakers' favourite for the vacancy, but as of Saturday, Tottenham were yet to make an official approach for the Danish coach, the PA news agency understands.
