Ireland AM star Síomha Ní Ruairc has been left 'heartbroken' following the sudden death of her "beautiful and wildly intelligent" sister Úna.
Lucan native Úna O'Rourke passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 20 at her home in London, where she had been living for a number of years. Síomha, who serves as one of the weekend presenters Ireland AM and also co-hosts the hugely popular How To Gael podcast, has posted a heartbreaking tribute to her beloved sister as her family come to terms with 'a new normal without her', the Irish Mirror reports.
Sharing a number of sweet family photos of Una on her Instagram page on Thursday evening, Síomha wrote: "My sister Úna passed away two weeks ago. My beautiful, wildly intelligent and annoyingly driven sister died and I'm heartbroken. Ní chreidim é fós.
"Growing up, we were never without each other. In our teenage years, we absolutely killed each other - as sisters do. As adults, we accepted each other for exactly who we are and I'm so proud of everything she achieved in her too-short life.
"My family and I can't thank everyone enough for the support we've received since. The sandwiches, lasagnas, cakes. The chats, hugs, stories, touches of hands.
"We have the most amazing network of friends, neighbours, colleagues and of course family. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
"We've been blown away and so sincerely touched by the kindness of people. It reminds me of white blood cells, rushing to fight off infection. Community, rushing to help ease the pain.
"Now, we face a new normal without her. But she'll be with me - like a handprint on my heart. It'll never not be; Úna agus Síomha."
Síomha's emotional post was met with an outpouring of support from her friends and colleagues who rushed to offer their condolences. Fellow Ireland AM presenter Muireann O'Connell said: "Oh Síomha, I'm so sorry for the tragic loss of your beloved sister. All my love to you and your family."

Singer Una Healy said: "I am so sorry for your loss sending you and your family so much love." Ireland AM broadcaster and stylist Rosalind Lipsett said: "I'm so sorry for your loss. That's absolutely devastating. Sending you and your family so much love."
A death notice posted on rip.ie remembered Una as "a beloved daughter of Damhnait and Dermot and dear sister to Síomha, Aedín and her brother-in-law Cathal".
"Úna's passing is a huge loss to the family," the notice stated, adding that Una's untimely passing is "deeply regretted by her wider family; aunts, uncles, cousins and her good friends in both the UK and Ireland." Una's funeral mass was held St. Patrick's Church in Esker, Lucan on Tuesday morning, followed by burial in Esker Lawn Cemetery.

Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has reflected on "25 years of laughs, tears, costumes, chaos - and one unforgettable journey" following her character's exit from the show. There are simply too many of our favourite Eileen moments ❤️ — Coronation Street (@itvcorrie) June 6, 2025 Eileen Grimshaw had a special send-off during Friday's episode of the ITV soap, where she was seen leaving for Thailand alongside her son Jason Grimshaw, played by Ryan Thomas. Simon Gregson's character Steve McDonald, Tony Maudsley's character George Shuttleworth, and Eileen's son Todd, played by Gareth Pierce, all said goodbye to the matriarch before drivers from the local taxi firm honked their horns as she was driven off to her new life. In an Instagram post, Cleaver said: "Well… that's a wrap. 25 years of laughs, tears, costumes, chaos - and one unforgettable journey. "I'll miss this character like crazy, but what a ride it's been. Thank you for every moment." Cleaver has played the outspoken and uncomplicated Eileen in the ITV show since 2000. Eileen came to Weatherfield to work at the local taxi firm, Streetcars, to provide for her two tearaway teenage children, Jason and Todd. Social media users were impressed with the Holiday packing tips Jemma Solomon, aka The Label Lady has got 5 packing tips to help you get organised for your next holiday. 1. Write a list Think about all the essentials you need to take with you; suncream, medicine, a few games for the kids, beach towels, and write everything in one list, which you can tick off as you add it to your suitcase. Or for complete ease, try Google's AI app - Gemini - which will create a list for you and help you not over pack. 2. Involve your kids Jemma said: 'My girls are getting older, they're 11 and nine, and they enjoy helping to pack. So I send them a list, and say 'this is what you need' and they follow the list. 'And then I give them a rucksack each - and say to them 'you can have whatever you want in there as long as it's not liquid', and they can take that on the plane. And that's their 'home away from home' items.' 3. Try a hack or two She said: "I think they all work, but for different reasons - and you've just got to pick the right one for your trip. "Rolling your clothes is really good to stop your clothes from getting creases. And if you're trying to get a lot of items into your case, it's a space saver. 'Packing cubes are great - for example, I'm going on holiday with my three kids and we're all using the same suitcase for our clothes. "These handy compartments let you separate your clothes, toiletries and tech into designated cubes, maximising luggage space by keeping your items compressed and neatly stacked. "I love taking them abroad with the family and it means my kids can easily take charge of their own items once we've arrived." 4. Decant beauty products Do you really need to take full-size bottles of shampoo and conditioner with you? The beauty industry has evolved so much, you can now buy shampoo bars or sheets - which are much lighter and smaller. Or, if you'll be popping to the shops when you're abroad, consider buying some items when you arrive. 5. Get organised before you come home Jemma said: 'When you repack on holiday [before coming home], the trick is to separate clean from dirty clothes. 'Also pack it in some form of order - so lights, darks, colours for items that need washing, or if you wash your clothes by person in the household, piles for each person. "Then you can put it straight into the washing machine. Do it straight away, don't leave it." One person said: 'Well played.' Another added: 'Great idea!!!' Smart packing! Instagram user A third commented: 'I guess this is smart.' Meanwhile, someone else shared: 'Ingenious.' Donal Skehan 'cursed again' days after Bloom kitchen chaos

It seems the days of oven nightmares aren't over for Donal Skehan just yet. The TV chef was in the middle of a cookery demonstration at Bord Bia Bloom last weekend when a glass oven door broke into pieces in his hand. Thankfully, nobody was hurt by the flying shards, and the accident provided the chef with plenty of material for the rest of the demonstration, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the amused audience. Taking to Instagram on Friday, Donal detailed a mishap that occurred while he was firing pottery in his kiln. 'Now I know we are not even clear of a week of my exploding oven incident, however, I've been cursed again,' he laughed. Pic: Michael Chester 'I've just fired the kiln for the very first time and look what I woke up to,' he added, showing a number of shattered pottery pieces in the base of the kiln. 'Another explosion in the oven,' he laughed. 'However, despite my little one pot that exploded, I have been left with these beautiful vases.' Finding the humour in the incident, he continued: 'Oven explosions, I think it's just something I live with now.' Speaking to following his original over mishap, Donal explained: 'My biggest fear was that the glass was hot, it went all down my shirt, all down my top.' 'It had rained previously, so we've never had a more packed demo tent – of course – to witness it,' Skehan laughed. 'The thing I learned in all my years on television is that whatever goes wrong, you keep on cracking on. I've had many kitchen disasters, and I think this definitely tops it. There's nothing like something going wrong in front of 400 people.'
