Selangor cops begin probe on allegedly deviant E-Hati marriage talk
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, in a statement on Monday (July 14), said that an investigation paper into the E-Hati Love Intensive event held in a Selangor convention centre has been opened under Section 294 of the Penal Code for public indecency and Section 509 of the same for insulting the modesty of a person.
'A thorough investigation will be conducted to identify lewd elements or deviant teachings that go against public norms, as alleged. All aspects and allegations will be evaluated fairly as part of our investigations.
'In connection with that, the police will call in all participants of the event for statements,' he said.
Previously, the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) said in a statement that it had started investigations into the motivational talk event that had allegedly featured semi-naked dancers and conducted "holy cleansing baths".
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar reportedly said that two persons involved in the event had been called to give their statements to assist the Selangor Islamic Religious Department's investigation, carried out in cooperation with Jakim.

Nine foreigners arrested for fighting with weapons at Bangsar construction site
KUALA LUMPUR: Nine foreigners have been arrested by police in connection with a fight involving a group of men that broke out at a construction site in Bangsar. Brickfields deputy police chief Superintendent Ahmad Firdaus Mustaffa Kamal said the foreigners were arrested following a report lodged over the fight at 4.53pm on July 14. "The police arrested nine foreigners, aged between 24 and 37, suspected of being involved in the fight," he said in a statement today. He added that police seized six yellow safety helmets and three silver scaffolding poles, believed to have been used during the fight, when they detained the suspects. All nine men, he said, have been remanded for four days starting today until July 18 to assist police investigations. "The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons." Ahmad Firdaus also issued a stern warning to the public not to get involved in any fights as action will be taken against them.

Parang-wielding man detained after disrupting DBKL demolition
KUALA LUMPUR: A 43-year-old man was arrested after allegedly brandishing a parang and threatening Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers during a demolition operation in Desa Pandan yesterday. Wangsa Maju police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said the man appeared at the scene at about 11.17am, holding a long parang in his right hand and swinging it while shouting insults at DBKL officers. The incident occurred during an integrated enforcement operation involving DBKL, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) to demolish illegal structures built on a pedestrian walkway. Members of the public managed to calm the suspect down before police arrived. A long parang was confiscated near the scene, and the man was taken into custody for investigation. An investigation is underway under Section 353 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison, a fine, or both. Lazim urged the public not to spread speculation or share pictures or videos of the incident on social media, warning that such actions could cause unnecessary public anxiety. Man nabbed for allegedly threatening DBKL officers with parang
KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been arrested after brandishing a weapon at DBKL officers during a raid here. The incident occurred in Desa Pandan during Ops Roboh, an operation targeting illegal structures along footpaths. "At 11.17am on Tuesday (July 15) the suspect approached with a parang and hurled insults at officers. "A knife was seized and the 43-year-old suspect was arrested," said Wangsa Maju OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Lazim Ismail in a statement.
