Selangor cops begin probe on allegedly deviant E-Hati marriage talk
PETALING JAYA: Police have started investigations into the motivational event that allegedly featured deviant and lewd activities.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, in a statement on Monday (July 14), said that an investigation paper into the E-Hati Love Intensive event held in a Selangor convention centre has been opened under Section 294 of the Penal Code for public indecency and Section 509 of the same for insulting the modesty of a person.
'A thorough investigation will be conducted to identify lewd elements or deviant teachings that go against public norms, as alleged. All aspects and allegations will be evaluated fairly as part of our investigations.
'In connection with that, the police will call in all participants of the event for statements,' he said.
Previously, the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) said in a statement that it had started investigations into the motivational talk event that had allegedly featured semi-naked dancers and conducted "holy cleansing baths".
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar reportedly said that two persons involved in the event had been called to give their statements to assist the Selangor Islamic Religious Department's investigation, carried out in cooperation with Jakim.
