Crash on Florida spring break trip kills star high school athlete, 2 friends
Concord-Carlisle High School seniors Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman died Monday night after their SUV crashed into a tractor-trailer in Panama City Beach, Florida, according to Boston25. A third student, Maisey O'Donnell, also a senior and a state champion diver, died on Tuesday from injuries sustained in the crash.
A fourth student is in critical condition.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash took place on Highway 98 in Inlet Beach, part of Walton County. The four students were in an SUV when it crashed into a tractor-trailer that was executing a U-turn at 9:28 p.m.

Two people in the tractor-trailer were not injured, according to FHP, which is investigating.

"We are very appreciative of the outpouring of love during what is absolutely heartbreaking," Concord-Carlisle Regional School District Superintendent Laurie Hunter said in a statement. "We also appreciate the wish to feel purposeful and not helpless. We are all devastated beyond what we can understand today. I know that the difficult days ahead will be ones we face together.
"Maisey is in the organ donation program as her family hopes that it will give meaning to these meaningless tragedies."

O'Donnell was a two-time state championship diver with plans to attend Williams College in Massachusetts next fall.
"I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Williams College!" she said in a September Instagram post. "Thank you so much to my family, friends, and coaches who helped me get to this point."
According to a diving recruiting profile, O'Donnell won MVP, 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All-Area, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-County and 1st Team All-Conference in 2023.
The Florida Highway Patrol offered its condolences in a statement provided to Fox News Digital on Wednesday.
"We recognize this is a very tough time for all that are involved, from the families to the fellow students and the entire community," the statement said.
"The members of the Florida Highway Patrol, being moms, dads, and grandparents themselves, are struggling with the tragedy of such young lives being involved, it's what drives us to do our job with attentiveness and respect. For most people, a sleepless night might be something they'd just as soon forget. But for Lauren Paulet-Miller, a sleepless night, or at least what she did when confronted with one, turned into what is likely to be a life-changing event. Paulet-Miller, 26, was named the winner on July 30 of a unique contest from Toyota Motor North America. She scored a new 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro and enough money — $95,000 — to buy a piece of land, so she can combine a love of the outdoors with her desire to connect people to nature. 'My intention is to make it a little bit of a retreat space where I can introduce people to camping and get them feeling more comfortable with the outdoors,' said Paulet-Miller, who grew up in Miami and sees an opportunity in the area she now calls home, near Hagerstown, Maryland, which she noted has a growing Latino population that may lack access to nature. 'There's a lot of barriers that keep people from my community from having those meaningful outdoor experiences so I'm hoping I can use the space to educate people of all races and backgrounds on the outdoors and how to experience the outdoors safely.' Paulet-Miller, who works as a sustainability outreach coordinator for the city of Frederick, Maryland, happened to stumble on the Toyota 4Runner Landia contest on Instagram one sleepless night earlier this year. Rather than simply passing by the ad for the contest as she might normally be inclined to do, she fired off an essay and entered the contest, which, according to Toyota, drew more than 25,000 entries in April and May. We leaned towards submissions that embraced the full vision of the prize — those that saw the land as more than a backdrop, and the 4Runner as the key to making their dream come true. The most compelling entries picture a life of exploration, awe in nature and belonging.' Paulet-Miller was awaiting delivery of her new vehicle, which she chose in Mudbath (a special color for 2025 that Toyota's Cynthia Barreras compared to hot chocolate), but she's already making plans for it, such as adding a rooftop camper. She's been off-roading before, in Utah, and even rented a camper van to explore parts of New Zealand last year as part of her honeymoon. But Paulet-Miller hopes the new 4Runner will take her adventuring to a new level. With a sticker price of $68,400, it will also be a change from her current vehicles, a Subaru Forester and another Toyota, a 2002 Corolla with more than 200,000 miles. Influencer couple killed in Canadian mountain crash
Two YouTube influencers from Canada who showcased their off-roading adventures died in a crash on Thursday, according to reports. Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans, who ran social media accounts under @ToyotaWorldRunners, were in an off-road motor vehicle crash on August 7 around 7:30 p.m near Trout Lake in British Columbia, Canada according to The Sun. "[I]t was on a forestry road, somewhere in the mountains, and quite a long ways north in the valley up towards … the village of Trout Lake," Kaslo Search and Rescue (SAR) manager Mark Jennings-Bates told the outlet. Jennings said Kaslo SAR was "able to get to them efficiently," but one of the vehicle's occupants was dead at the scene. The other died later at a hospital. Karlo SAR did not immediately respond to a Fox News Digital inquiry. Toyota World Runners' YouTube page started in January 2020. It has 200,000 subscribers who have viewed its 345 outdoor adventure-themed videos nearly 18 million times. An account with the same name has more than 74,000 followers on Instagram. "I'm sorry to all that this has affected. This is a big loss for the offroad community and a bigger loss to Matthew's and Stacey's family and close friends," fellow off-roading creator Colin Stuart of Dirt Theory said, according to The Sun. He was reportedly with the couple at the time of the crash, and "did everything" in his power to save them. "Please keep us and them in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating end to an amazing Love Story," Colleen Tourot, who the Daily Mail reports is Stacey's mother, said in a social media post.
