Clemson lands former Utah forward Jake Wahlin in the transfer portal
Clemson has added another key piece from the transfer portal, this time securing a commitment from former Utah forward Jake Wahlin.
Wahlin, a 6-foot-10 sophomore, brings size and versatility to the Tigers' frontcourt and will have two years of eligibility remaining. He appeared in 33 games for the Utes this past season, starting 22 of them, and averaged 6.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 35 percent from beyond the arc.
The Utah native entered the portal on March 14 and visited Clemson over the weekend before also taking a trip to Virginia. Ultimately, he chose to join head coach Brad Brownell's squad.
'Can't wait to get to Tiger town,' Wahlin posted on X following his commitment.
He becomes the fifth player Clemson has picked up out of the portal and the fourth frontcourt addition, joining Nick Davidson (Nevada), Carter Welling (Utah Valley), and RJ Godfrey (Georgia). On the perimeter, the Tigers also recently landed UAB guard Efrem Johnson.

College football analyst makes bold prediction for Texas A&M's odds to reach 2025 CFP
College football analyst makes bold prediction for Texas A&M's odds to reach 2025 CFP The talent brought into the program via the transfer portal, along with those who chose to remain in Bryan-College Station, Texas, has significantly enhanced Texas A&M football's chances of reaching the College Football Playoff this season. According to college football analyst Kelley Ford, the Aggies have a real shot at receiving an at-large bid in the CFP if Mike Elko and company control their destiny. Ford's analytics have Texas A&M with a 60% chance or more to win nine games this season, with the lowest projected chance to win being 16% on the road against the Texas Longhorns. Here is the full breakdown of rankings, percentages, and where Elko's squad ranks heading into this year's campaign: While the Aggies' chances of winning nine games are high, the win-loss projections still have the program finishing 8-4 this season, which would be a massive disappointment for most in Elko's second year at the helm, considering the team has some of the top talent in the Southeastern Conference on its roster. Ford recently made a guest appearance on "That SEC Podcast" to discuss his rankings and projections for each SEC team in 2025. In talks about Texas A&M with host Michael Bratton, also known as SEC Mike, Ford made a bold statement for the Aggies' chances of breaking more than eight wins for the first time since 2020. Texas A&M's road to the CFP has more than its fair share of roadblocks along the way, as competing in the SEC is a competitive and challenging endeavor. It helps the Aggies' odds having a talented dual-threat sophomore quarterback under center in Marcel Reed and a promising wide receiving corps that features NC State transfer KC Concepcion. As the models continue to trend upward for the program, time will tell if Elko can lead his team to historic heights in just his second year in College Station. Texas A&M's 2026 cycle rises in the recruiting ranks after latest commitment
Texas A&M's 2026 cycle rises in the recruiting ranks after latest commitment It's no surprise that Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is competing for the No. 1 spot in the rankings by the end of the year, as coach Mike Elko and his staff have hosted 33 elite 2026 prospects over the past two weekends, including 15 this weekend. Led by the return of five-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown, the Aggies gained their 15th commitment on Saturday night after landing three-star QB/ATH Kaeden Johnson. Johnson, who will likely play tight end for the Aggies due to his size, speed, and knowledge of route concepts, is one of the rising prospects in the cycle, so locking him down early was one of Elko's priority tasks this month. With Johnson's commitment, Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting cycle has risen to No. 6 in 247Sports recruiting rankings, ten spots ahead of the Texas Longhorns (No. 16). With several commitments on the horizon, Lamar Brown is set to announce his choice on July 10, and after his revealing post on X after his official visit to College Station, stating, "Think this one close the book..." the Aggies are in an excellent position to land the standout lineman, which would be one of the biggest recruiting wins in the last couple of offseasons. Here are the Top 10 2026 recruiting rankings according to 247Sports: USC (28 commits) Ohio State (15 commits) Notre Dame (16 commits) Georgia (16 commits) Clemson (18 commits) Texas A&M (15 commits) Penn State (19 commits) Miami (13 commits) LSU (10 commits) Rutgers (23 commits) Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions. Insider gives positive update on Steelers, T.J. Watt contract negotiations
Insider gives positive update on Steelers, T.J. Watt contract negotiations T.J. Watt's minicamp no-show was far from ideal — but insider Mike Garafolo recently provided some reason for hope. On last Tuesday's episode of The Insiders, Garafolo took a more positive stance on the Steelers–Watt situation: 'I don't feel that this one is contentious,' Garafolo said. 'If a player misses mandatory minicamp over the next couple days, you don't have to fine a player. We'll see what the Steelers wind up doing on this one. I know that they feel really good about the talks that they've had and the offers that they've made. … Mike Tomlin has the belief that T.J. Watt is gonna be just fine working away from the facility, so they're not stressing about that part of it. If there was a pressure point right now — and the start of training camp seems like it's a pressure point — I feel like this thing would get done. And it will get done at some point. I don't sense any long-term concerns about T.J. Watt — despite the fact that he's throwing up that peace sign in that picture he posted on Instagram a couple of weeks ago." Despite concerns over whether or not the Steelers are even close to the number Watt is looking for, there seems to be an overreaction stemming from his minicamp absence — one that can be easily alleviated if he shows up at training camp next month.
