Mouse droppings discovered in luxury suites at Old Trafford on eve of Europa League final
Manchester United's famous Old Trafford stadium is in trouble again after mouse droppings were found in its fancy dining areas. This bad news comes right before the Europa League final, worrying fans and visitors.
The stadium's
food hygiene rating
is still only two stars, which is disappointing for such a big club.
Mouse droppings discovered
across Old Trafford's premium areas
Just before the Europa League final, Manchester United got bad news when health inspectors found mouse droppings in seven important spots at Old Trafford during a mid-April check, as the Daily Mail reported on May 20, 2025. The droppings were in posh places like the Ambassador Lounge, Manchester Suite, and Number 7 suite, with some even under a buffet bar in the Number 7 suite, where seats cost £550 per person.

The Manchester Suite, priced at £600 per person, had lots of droppings too. The club got a low two-star hygiene rating last November and hasn't improved since. Inspectors also found dirty areas and a pesto container mislabeled for a month instead of eight days. Manchester United has a strong pest-control plan with weekly checks and quick fixes. With 29 kitchens at the stadium, keeping everything clean is hard, but the club works to solve the problem quickly.

Old Trafford's ageing infrastructure fuels hygiene challenges
Old Trafford's hygiene problems are partly because the stadium is ancient, making it hard to keep clean for the 250,000 people eating at its fancy restaurants each season, according to the Daily Mail on May 20, 2025. The stadium's location near a canal and railway brings more mice, especially in winter when they look for warm spots. According to inspectors, the club is working hard to get rid of pests, but some effort is still needed to prevent mice from getting near the food.
The Tiger Stadium also has roofs that let water in, which people debate whether to repair it or start planning for a new 100,000-seat stadium. These hygiene issues might push the club to choose a new stadium with better pest control and cleaner facilities. Manchester United is working with pest experts and the council to fix things, but the two-star rating shows there's still work to do. With the Europa League final coming, the club wants to make sure its dining areas are safe and clean for everyone.
This hygiene issue at Old Trafford is a big worry, especially with the Europa League final so close. Manchester United is trying to fix things, but mouse droppings in pricey suites upset fans and guests. The club says it acts fast when problems are found, but keeping 29 kitchens clean is tough. A new stadium might solve these issues for good.

Would have told Virat Kohli to retire after England Tests: Ex-India chief selector
Former India captain and chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar has said the national selectors should have persuaded Virat Kohli to delay his retirement from Test cricket until after the recent five-match series in announced his decision to retire from Test cricket just days before the start of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, shortly after Rohit Sharma also retired from Tests. Their absence left India with a fresh leadership group under Shubman Gill, who impressed both as captain and batsman, steering the side to a 2-2 who served as chief selector from 2006 to 2008, said Kohli's experience could have been crucial in the series. "If I were the Indian chief selector, I would have persuaded Virat to bid goodbye to Test cricket after playing the England series. We needed his class and experience in this series," Vengsarkar told The Times of India. Kohli's record in England has been mixed. After a disappointing debut tour in 2014, he returned in 2018 to score 655 runs as captain. However, he struggled during the 2021-22 visit, which included the World Test Championship final. In total, he has scored 1,096 runs in 17 Tests in England at an average of a month after his shock announcement, Kohli finally spoke about his decision to retire from Test cricket during a charity event for former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh's foundation, YouWeCan. Explaining his choice, he said: "I just coloured my beard two days ago. You know it's time when you are colouring your beard every four days."Neither Kohli nor Rohit has played competitive cricket since the IPL 2025 season. With India not scheduled to play ODI cricket until the end of the year in Australia and South Africa, their extended absence has added to speculation about their international retired with 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, placing him fourth on India's all-time list behind Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar. As captain, he led in 68 Tests, winning 40 - the most by any Indian skipper and the fourth-best in is expected to return to action in a three-match ODI series against Australia in October, followed by a home series against South Africa.- EndsYou May Also Like

PSG drop Gianluigi Donnarumma from Super Cup squad as summer exit looms
Paris Saint-Germain have dropped goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from their squad for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup, a clear indication that the Italian's exit from the club is imminent. This move comes amid mounting reports that Donnarumma will leave PSG this summer, with no plans to extend his current contract, which runs until June of the high-profile fixture against Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur in Udine, Italy, Donnarumma, 26, who played a pivotal role in PSG's recent successes-including their Champions League triumph and Ligue 1 title last season-has been left out of the travelling squad. Yet, despite his integral contributions, his relationship with the club has reportedly "completely broken down," according to reliable reports suggest that contract renewal negotiations have stalled, with PSG appearing intent on moving forward without the Italian goalkeeper. The arrival of French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille for a reported 47 million reinforces this narrative. Chevalier, 23, impressed during the previous Ligue 1 campaign and is set to become coach Luis Enrique's first-choice goalkeeper going forward. Meanwhile, sources close to the player indicate that Donnarumma's camp are unhappy with how the club has handled the situation this summer. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that a summer move away from Paris is "100% guaranteed," though Donnarumma has not ruled out the possibility of leaving on a free transfer when his contract expires next year. The Premier League is widely regarded as his most probable destination, with Manchester United and Manchester City leading the United appear particularly well placed to secure the Italian's signature, especially after Manchester City's recent re-signing of James Trafford from Burnley for 27 million. The Red Devils have already spent nearly 200 million this summer on new signings, including Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, signalling their intent to strengthen all areas of the squad. Current United first-choice goalkeeper Andr Onana has missed the entire pre-season due to a hamstring injury, intensifying the need for reinforcements in goal ahead of their Premier League opener against joining PSG from AC Milan in 2021, Donnarumma has made over 160 appearances for the club, helping secure four league titles alongside the coveted Champions League trophy. His performances last season earned him a place in UEFA's Champions League team of the season, underscoring his status as one of the world's top goalkeepers.- Ends
