Electricity distribution project in Kota Kinabalu completed
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, said the RM22.4 million project is the second project under the Sabah Electricity Supply Special Project Team (PPKBES) to be completed this year.
According to him, the project aims to balance the load at the main electricity station in Kota Kinabalu, which involves the Main Input Substations (PMU) at Penampang and Kepayan, and the KKIA Main Distribution Substation (PPU).
'With the completion of this project, the duration of electricity supply disruptions can be reduced and the process of repairing electricity supply around Kota Kinabalu city will be faster and more orderly,' he said in a post on Facebook today.
Fadillah also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in making the project a success.

NATIONAL takaful protection scheme for the B40 community, mySalam, which is fully managed by Great Eastern Takaful Berhad (GETB), celebrated the independence month in Sarawak with 'Karnival 3K: Kewangan, Kesihatan dan Kebajikan' on Aug 16. Held in Samariang, Kuching, it attracted nearly 3,000 visitors, offering a platform for fostering unity and social support, especially for the Sarawak community. Karnival 3K Petra Jaya was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister II and Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. It symbolised the government's efforts to strengthen financial, health, and welfare protection for the people, in line with the Malaysia Madani aspiration that emphasises societal development focusing on well-being, inclusivity and resilience. Also present at the event were Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department (Law, MA63 and StateFederal Relations, and ADUN N7) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Syed Aman Ghazali, Finance Ministry Secretary General of Treasury Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, Great Eastern Takaful CEO Shahrul Azlan Shahriman, Malaysian Takaful Association CEO Mohd Radzuan Mohamed, and Head of mySalam Syuhaib Ithnin. Since its implementation in 2019, Great Eastern Takaful, as the administrator of the mySalam scheme, has disbursed a total of RM1.25 billion in claims to 1.74 million individuals. This figure reflects a continued commitment to supporting those in need, particularly the B40 group. Beyond cash benefits and health protection, the scheme also plays a vital role in enhancing financial awareness and risk management among low-income communities. 'Karnival 3K is not just about aiding, but also about sharing information, enhancing accessibility, and creating opportunities for communities to holistically improve their quality of life. 'It reflects our ongoing efforts to support the Madani government's vision of building a more resilient, financially literate, and physically and mentally healthy society. We believe protection is not just a certificate, but a form of social support that can truly transform lives,' Syuhaib said in a statement. Karnival 3K also featured various high-impact activities for the community. In the area of finance, financial literacy sessions were conducted to enhance understanding and skills in financial management. Additionally, the government Perlindungan Tenang Vouchers (PTV) worth RM30 each to two million eligible Malaysians amounting to over RM60 million in total. Targeting the same segment, the carnival also served as a promotional platform to encourage PTV redemption for improved protection coverage. These vouchers can be redeemed starting Sept 1, 2025, enabling recipients to participate in suitable takaful protection plans, including death benefits as an added value to the existing mySalam coverage. Focusing on health, free health screenings were also provided by the Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 (PeKa B40), including basic check-ups and blood tests for visitors to assess their health condition. This initiative aims to raise awareness in the aspect of health amongst the public and encourage early detection of diseases, especially non-communicable diseases that are increasingly prevalent among the B40 group. In efforts to support those in need, 140 food baskets were donated to selected underprivileged families. Sponsored by Great Eastern Takaful, Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), and Mydin Kuching, this contribution symbolises care and compassion for less fortunate communities. Beyond immediate assistance, the initiative also fosters empathy and solidarity within society, reinforcing the spirit of togetherness. These activities were not only entertaining but also helped strengthen bonds among local communities while igniting a sense of patriotism in conjunction with the National Day celebration. Fadillah: Only business negotiations left in Petronas–Petros Gas deal

Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof said the basis of agreement had already been established through a joint declaration between the federal government and the Sarawak government. 'The declaration has already been made (finalised) in which the Prime Minister and the Sarawak Premier clearly agreed that federal and state laws must go hand in hand. 'The Federation cannot disregard Sarawak laws, and likewise, Sarawak cannot disregard federal laws. So that has already been agreed upon in the declaration,' he said when met after officiating the MySalam 3K (Finance, Health and Welfare) Petra Jaya programme at the Kampung Samariang Batu Community Hall here today. He was responding to a statement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said in Parliament on Friday, who said that Petronas and Petros have yet to finalise the terms and mechanisms for implementing the joint declaration on gas distribution, even though nearly three months have passed since it was signed. Azalina reportedly said both parties were still discussing details of the cooperation framework based on agreed principles, in line with commercial considerations. Fadillah further explained that what remains unresolved are only the administrative and commercial negotiations between Petronas and Petros. 'The declaration is already there. What has yet to be finalised are the business negotiations between Petronas and Petros. These are still ongoing, and that is the current situation. 'So yes, they are still negotiating,' he said. Fadillah stressed that although no timeline has been set, the government hopes the negotiations can be concluded quickly to facilitate investment and business operations both offshore and onshore. 'That is what we want to expedite because it will make it easier for industry players to carry out their daily activities,' he said. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg signed the Joint Declaration on May 21, which formed the basis for establishing a cooperation framework between Petronas and Petros. The declaration also outlined key principles of alignment, such as ensuring all Federal and Sarawak State laws related to gas distribution within Sarawak coexist and are respected by all parties engaged in such activities in the state. In addition, the declaration stated that Petronas will continue to carry out its roles and responsibilities as provided under the Petroleum Development Act 1974 (Act 144). Petros, meanwhile, has been appointed as the gas aggregator for Sarawak's domestic market effective March 1, 2025, and this appointment will be respected by all industry players involved in gas distribution and supply to domestic consumers. As for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) business, Petronas will continue its role and responsibilities across the entire upstream value chain through to the sale of LNG to international markets, and all existing agreements or arrangements between Petronas and/or its subsidiaries with third parties for LNG sales (from upstream to export) will remain intact and in force. Meanwhile, in his speech, Fadillah said the Petra Jaya 3K Carnival 2025 was an important platform to engage with the people, listen to their voices, and share information on various government initiatives in a direct, open, and inclusive manner. This approach, he said, was in line with the Madani spirit which emphasises well-being, justice, and inclusiveness. According to him, the government has always focused on the lower-income (B40) group who are more vulnerable to the pressures of the cost of living. 'In line with this, various assistance programmes have been implemented to ease the burden and improve the well-being of the people. Among them are the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR), Cost of Living Aid (BSH), PeKa B40, the People's Housing Project (PPR), and the Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA). 'In fact, one important initiative I wish to highlight today is mySalam, a free health protection scheme for the B40 group which provides financial assistance and hospital treatment for critical illnesses,' he said. Ministry drives water policy for safe, sustainable supply

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said this effort will not only enhance the security of the country's water resources but also drive Malaysia towards becoming a dynamic water hub with potential contributions to economic development, job creation, and facilitating research and development. 'In this context, the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) plays an important role in strengthening cooperation at the federal, state and local government levels towards integrated water management. 'The transformation of the water sector towards more efficient water management requires an integrated information system to safeguard water security and ensure ecosystem sustainability for a better future,' Fadillah said at an event here, reported Bernama. He was speaking at the 2025 JPS Senior Managers and District Engineers Conference here yesterday, which was also attended by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud. Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said efficient and sustainable water resource management remains one of the main focuses of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), especially as issues of clean water supply security and changing rainfall patterns due to climate change become increasingly critical. Under Thrust A7 – Strengthening Flood Mitigation and Adaptation – the government emphasises implementing more comprehensive, integrated and innovative strategies to increase the nation's resilience to increasingly complex and high-impact flood disasters. 'As the main technical agency in managing national water resources, Petra hopes JPS will continue to lead in ensuring integrated, sustainable and resilient water resource management in Malaysia. 'JPS is also expected to strengthen its role as a facilitator of the national water policy at the state and district levels so that there are no gaps in planning and implementing water-related projects,' Fadillah added.
