Sarah Jessica Parker refuses to take selfies with fans for surprisingly heartwarming reason
Sarah Jessica Parker has started refusing to take selfies with fans when she's out in public.
The Sex and the City star was recently asked for a photo at an airport, and she has explained she turned down the request for a very simple reason.
Appearing on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show this week, she said: "So here's what I've been trying to do, because I was just at the airport on Friday.
"A woman came up to me and she didn't say hello, she just said, 'Can I take your picture?'
"And I said, 'We didn't even meet. You didn't even introduce yourself. What's your name?' "
After the stranger said her name was Julie, the 60-year-old actress suggested a conversation might be better than a quick selfie.
She added: "I guarantee you it's gonna be so much more meaningful."
And she even had another chat with Julie once her family was settled with food.
Radio host Howard compared the situation to "a schoolteacher teaching everyone how to behave" and said it must be "annoying", but Sarah disagreed.
She explained: "Here's the thing: I kind of prefer it to somebody walking up to me with a camera already ready asking as they're clicking.
"I always am, like, startled by it. I much prefer to have a conversation — for someone to come up to me and say, 'Maybe this isn't your best time, my name is Veronica and I'm just here and I'm excited to see you.' "
Meanwhile, Sarah recently opened up about being regarded as a style icon, although she insisted other people's perceptions have never had much influence on her choices.
She told Britain's HELLO! magazine: 'It's flattering, but it's something I don't really think about.
'I do love clothes and fashion, but I don't go out to be anything other than myself.
'There's a time when you're young when you think a lot about people's opinions of you, but I'd be at a disadvantage to spend a lot of time thinking about what other people think of me now, good or bad.
'It doesn't allow you to be who you are authentically, for better or sores.'

The recipe was actually inspired by her sons love of both dishes and she combined the two together. Recipe below: Chicken & leek pie with potato bake top SERVES 4 PREP + COOK TIME 1 HOUR Ingredients 6-8 (800g) medium washed potatoes 1 tablespoon olive oil 600g chicken thigh fillets, cut into 3cm cubes 1 leek, white and pale green parts, sliced 5mm thick 3 cloves garlic, chopped 1 brown onion, diced 2 tablespoons plain flour 1¼ cups chicken stock 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard ½ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper 300ml sour cream ¾ cup grated tasty cheese fresh chives, green beans, for serving Method 1 Preheat oven to 180°C fan-forced. 2 In a medium saucepan over high heat, place the potatoes into salted water and bring to the boil. Boil for around 20 minutes or until a skewer goes easily through them. The time will depend on the size of the potatoes; don't overcook them. Drain and set aside to cool while you cook the pie filling. 3 Meanwhile, heat one teaspoon of the oil in a medium, heavy-based oven-proof frypan or shallow enamel casserole, and brown half of the chicken. Remove to a bowl and repeat with another teaspoon of oil and the remaining chicken. (It only needs to have some golden colour, not be cooked all the way through at this stage.) 4 Heat the remaining oil in the pan and sauté the leek, garlic and onion until fragrant and translucent. Return the chicken to the pan and sprinkle flour over the top. Stir to coat the chicken. 5 Add the stock, half a cup at a time, allowing the sauce to cook and thicken in between each addition. When all the stock is added, bring the sauce to a simmer and add the mustard, salt and pepper. Remove the pan from the heat. 6 Cut the cooked potatoes into 1cm slices and layer evenly over the chicken mixture. Season to taste. 7 In a small bowl, stir the sour cream until smooth, then spread over the potato. Sprinkle with the cheese. 8 Place the pan into the oven and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling. Sprinkle with chopped chives and accompany with steamed beans, if you like.

Sarah Jessica Parker's mid-interview confession causes outrage
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker dropped a confession in a new interview so surprising that it left even shock jock Howard Stern lost for words. The Sex and the City star appeared on Stern's podcast to publicise the recently-launched third season of And Just Like That, a sequel of sorts to SATC. No surprises that Stern wanted to discuss one controversial scene in particular that aired during And Just Like That' s season three premiere: SJP's character Carrie's awkward attempt at phone sex with long-distance boyfriend Aidan (John Corbett). 'He's having phone sex with you, he's about to, y'know, play with himself – and he licks his hand,' Stern began. 'He takes his tongue and he starts licking his hand, and he plays with his penis …' Parker interjected during Stern's X-rated description to ask, 'I'm sorry, what?' As Parker went on to explain, she's barely watched any of And Just Like That across its three seasons to date – or much of Sex and the City, for that matter. Those behind And Just Like That 's official Instagram account tried to weigh in to calm the outrage, commenting that Parker was 'so Carrie with this reply' – a quip that was quickly shouted down as fans told them to 'read the room.' Parker also revealed her cluelessness about the show in another recent interview with the Guardian, revealing that she had no idea there had been a strong viewer reaction against one character. Actor Sara Ramirez played Che Diaz, a stand-up comedian and self-described 'queer non-binary Mexican-Irish diva' who served as a love interest for Miranda. The character was quietly dropped from the show after season two amid ongoing fan backlash. Not that Parker knew about it. 'A friend of mine brought it up to me, and it's like: 'What are you talking about?' And he said: 'Yeah, there's all this conversation,'' Parker told The Guardian. 'I've been an actor for 50 years, and I've almost never paid attention to peripheral chatter.'
