Koppal: MLA K Raghavendra Hitnal expressed his support for the fight against Baldota factory expansion during a meeting held at the Inspection Bungalow on Sunday evening. The meeting was organised by the Joint Action Forum, comprising the Jilla Bachao Andolan Samiti and the Environmental Protection Forum.
Following the incident of alleged assault against shepherds at the construction site of the steel factory near Koppal on Saturday, Hitnal reached out to the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police. He urged for solutions to maintain access to Basapura lake for both residents and livestock.
During the meeting, Hitnal stated that in addition to the steel company's complaints against activists, counter-complaints would also be taken into account.
Plans were made to file a 'B' report regarding baseless allegations made against the protesters.
He mentioned his earlier delegation to the chief minister, where he voiced his disapproval of setting up another steel factory close to Koppal, leading to a halt in construction orders. During the chief minister's recent visit to Hosapete, he brought to his attention the potential problems associated with the steel factory's closeness to the city and received confirmation from him regarding the govt's commitment to respecting the residents' concerns.

Donald Trump's wife Melania Trump writes now viral peace letter to Vladimir Putin. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky's top official thanks US First Lady

US President Donald Trump handed Vladimir Putin a special item at their Alaska summit: a letter written by his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, pleading for the Russian leader to make peace in the name of children. The first lady's office on Saturday reposted a Fox News article on X containing the short letter, a day after Trump and Putin failed to find a breakthrough at their high-stakes meeting. Andriy Yermak, the Chief of Staff for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has thanked the US' First Lady Melania Trump for calling on Russia's President Vladimir Putin to save deported Ukrainian children. Melania Trump to Vladimir Putin Putin read the "peace letter" immediately after Trump handed it to him, while delegations from both sides looked on, according to Fox News. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 15 Most Beautiful Women in the World Undo "In today's world, some children are forced to carry a quiet laughter, untouched by the darkness around them," read the letter, which was signed by the first lady and did not mention Ukraine by name. "Mr Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter," it added. "In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone -- you serve humanity itself." Live Events "Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today," the letter read. "It is time." In July, the US president had said that his wife, who was born in Slovenia, had helped change his thinking about Putin. "I go home, I tell the first lady, 'you know, I spoke to Vladimir today, we had a wonderful conversation,'" Trump said. "And she said, 'Oh really? Another city was just hit.'" Trump attempted a rapprochement with Putin shortly after starting his second term, having campaigned on a pledge to end the Ukraine war within 24 hours. During the early months of his new term, he largely directed anger at Ukraine for the lack of a deal, but gradually began expressing frustration that Putin continued his attacks on Ukraine. Before the summit in Alaska, Trump had warned of "severe consequences" if Russia did not accept a ceasefire. However after meeting with Putin, Trump dropped his demand for a ceasefire, saying the best way to end the war "is to go directly to a peace agreement." Putin has long argued for negotiations on a final peace deal -- a strategy that Ukraine and its European allies have criticized as a way to buy time and press Russia's battlefield advances. Ukraine's Reactions "The return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia should be a key condition for any peace agreement," Yermak wrote in a post on social media on Saturday. Yermak said that he was "grateful" to Melania Trump for her letter to Russian President Putin, in which she called on the leader to "singlehandedly restore" children's "melodic laughter". FAQs Q1. Ukraine to lose Donbas? Trump to reportedly host Putin-Zelenskyy trilateral before August 22; Russia firm on 'core demands'

US President Donald Trump is preparing for a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy before August 22, according to two sources quoted by Axios. The talks, which could take place in Washington, come amid claims that Kyiv may be pressed to cede control of the Donbas region in exchange for a wider peace agreement. According to The New York Times, Trump proposed a plan to European leaders after his summit with Putin in Alaska, suggesting Ukraine would surrender the remainder of Donbas, including areas not yet seized by Russian forces, in return for a ceasefire and security guarantees. The newspaper cited senior European officials who said Trump appeared to align with Putin's long-standing demand that Kyiv leave Donbas entirely. Agence France-Presse (AFP), citing a source familiar with the talks, reported that 'Putin de facto demands that Ukraine leave Donbas' and that 'Trump is inclined to support it'. The source added that if Russia's demands were met, Moscow would freeze its offensive in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, though this would 'depend on Putin's word of honour'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The Financial Times reported that Putin told Trump he could halt fighting along the frontline if his 'core demands were met', with Trump relaying the message to European leaders on Saturday. Zelenskyy rejects concessions but open to summit Zelenskyy has consistently rejected ceding territory, arguing that Ukraine's constitution prevents it and warning that Donbas could be used as a launchpad for further Russian aggression. However, he has not ruled out discussing the issue at a three-way summit. After a phone call with Trump on Saturday, Zelenskyy said the two would meet at the White House on Monday to discuss 'all the details regarding ending the killing and the war'. He also reiterated the need for European leaders to be involved to provide 'ironclad security guarantees'. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told ZDF television that Trump indicated Russia was ready to negotiate along the current 'line of contact' rather than official borders, though it remained unclear how this would affect Ukraine's territorial claims. Putin praises 'frank' talks with Trump Putin described his meeting with Trump as 'very frank' and said Moscow respected Washington's efforts to seek 'a speedy end to military actions'. Analysts noted that the summit allowed Putin to step back onto the global stage after years of diplomatic isolation. Despite Trump's optimism, no formal agreement emerged from the Alaska summit. 'We had an extremely productive meeting,' Trump said, but added, 'There's no deal until there's a deal.'
