IOF Escalates Genocide, Entire family killed in Gaza

DaysofPal- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) escalated crimes of genocide across areas of the Gaza Strip, where Gaza health sources said that the IOF killed an entire family by bombing their tent in Gaza's Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood, killing seven people, including 5 children, early Wednesday.
The Israeli attack struck an encampment near the University College in southwest Gaza City, where families had sought refuge from weeks of intensified bombardment.
Al-Quds Hospital, operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, confirmed that rescue teams recovered the bodies of the victims, all from the Abu Hanideq family: Fatima Nimer Abu Hanideq, Ashraf Ahmad Abu Hanideq, Ahmad Zuhair Abu Hanideq, Mona Zuhair Abu Hanideq, Mohammed Zuhair Abu Hanideq, Ali Majed Abu Hanideq, and Ahmad Majed Abu Hanideq.
The latest strike comes as Israeli forces have escalated attacks on southern Gaza City in recent days, using airstrikes, artillery fire, and building demolitions that have left dozens dead and wounded, forcing more residents to flee.
Medical sources said Wednesday's overall death toll across the Gaza Strip had climbed to 12, including five people killed while attempting to collect humanitarian aid.
The war, which has now entered its 677th consecutive day, has devastated Gaza's civilian population.
Israeli bombardments and a blockade preventing food and medicine from entering have targeted children, women, hospitals, ambulances, and journalists.
According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, between October 7, 2023, and August 6, 2025, at least 61,158 Palestinians have been killed and 151,442 wounded in the ongoing Israeli genocide.
Moreover, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs confirmed the figures, while media reports indicate the death toll includes 227 people who died from starvation, among them 103 children.
Human rights organizations have condemned the strikes and blockade as collective punishment, warning of an escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Israeli Court Upholds Withholding of Palestinian Boy's Body for Use in Future Negotiations

DayofPal– Israel's Supreme Court has continued withholding the body of 14-year-old Wadia Shadi Sa'd Elyan, in a highly contentious decision drawing sharp criticism from human rights advocates. The ruling, delivered on July 31, 2025, allows the Israeli military to retain the child's remains indefinitely as a potential bargaining chip in future negotiations with Hamas, despite serious concerns about the legality and morality of the practice under both domestic and international law. 14-year-old Wadia Shadi Sa'd Elyan is a Palestinian boy from occupied Jerusalem who was fatally shot by Israeli forces in February 5 2024 near the Israeli settlement of Ma'ale Adumim in the occupied West Bank. While Israeli authorities allege he was attempting to carry out a stabbing attack against a police officer, video footage cited in court appears to contradict this narrative. The footage, submitted by the boy's family, reportedly shows Wadia being shot from behind as he ran away, and then fatally shot again while lying motionless on the ground. For over 18 months, Israeli authorities have refused to return Elyan's body to his family for burial. The Court accepted Israeli argument that his remains may be used as leverage in future prisoner exchange negotiations with Hamas, referencing classified security information and relying on the authority of the military commander to order a temporary burial. The decision drew strong condemnation from Adalah, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, which represented Wadia's family in a petition filed in July 2024. Adalah argued that the prolonged withholding of the child's body is a clear violation of the right to dignity, both for the deceased and his relatives, as enshrined in international human rights and humanitarian law, as well as prior rulings by the Israeli Supreme Court itself. 'This is a grave violation of international law that further entrenches the systemic use of deceased Palestinian bodies as political leverage,' said Adalah attorney Nareman Shehadeh-Zoabi during the July 3, 2025 court hearing. 'It permits the denial of children's most fundamental rights—even in death.' Adalah also criticized the Israel's legal basis for the withholding, which relies on Emergency Regulations enacted under British Mandate rule in 1945, calling the justification 'legally unfounded' and outdated. The ruling reflects a broader policy employed by Israeli authorities to withhold the bodies of Palestinians, both from the occupied territories and within Israel, as part of its security strategy. According to Defense for Children International – Palestine, as of February 2025, Israel is withholding the bodies of more than 45 Palestinian minors. The Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center (JLAC) reports that a total of 668 Palestinian bodies remain withheld as of May 2025. Human rights groups have condemned this policy as deeply inhumane and contrary to international norms. Families are often denied the right to bury their loved ones in accordance with their religious and cultural practices, prolonging grief and imposing psychological suffering. Adalah issued a statement condemning the Supreme Court's ruling, stating: 'By endorsing the use of a deceased child's body as a bargaining chip in political negotiations, the Court entrenches a grave violation of international law and basic humanity. This decision normalizes brutal policies that dehumanize Palestinians, deny children respect in death, and inflict profound suffering on their families.' The ruling adds to the growing scrutiny of Israel's handling of the remains of Palestinians killed by its forces, a practice critics argue not only violates legal obligations but also reflects broader patterns of systemic dehumanization. Ben Gvir Threatens Fatah Leader Marwan Barghouti in Prison

DaysofPal- A newly released video showing far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir confronting imprisoned Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti inside his cell has ignited a wave of condemnation and raised serious concerns for Barghouti's safety. The footage, aired by Israeli media, captures Ben Gvir entering Barghouti's cell in Ganot Prison (formerly Ramon and Nafha prisons) and delivering a direct threat: 'You will not defeat us. Whoever harms the people of Israel… we will erase him.' Barghouti, who has been held in solitary confinement for the past two years, appeared visibly frail, with significant weight loss and altered facial features, fueling alarm among his family and supporters. His wife, lawyer Fadwa Barghouti, wrote on Facebook that she struggled to recognize him, describing the 'exhaustion and hunger' he is enduring. She accused Israeli authorities of relentlessly pursuing her husband, even in isolation, but expressed confidence in his unbroken spirit and commitment to ending his people's suffering. His son, Qassam Barghouti, warned that the threats from Ben Gvir were direct and credible, adding that prison authorities have physically assaulted his father multiple times since October 7, 2023. The incident has drawn sharp criticism from Palestinian political circles and human rights organizations, who hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for Barghouti's well-being. Calls are mounting for international intervention to ensure his safety and to investigate the treatment of Palestinian political prisoners. Barghouti, a prominent figure in the Palestinian national movement, is serving multiple life sentences in an Israeli prison. His deteriorating condition and the publicized threats have intensified fears of targeted harm against him. Shortlink for this post:

Report: Israeli Military Unit Targeted Gaza Journalists with False Links to Hamas

Israel's military has formed a special unit aimed at portraying Gaza-based journalists as members of Hamas or other armed groups, according to an investigation by the Tel Aviv-based outlet +972 Magazine. The unit, called the 'Legitimisation Cell,' was reportedly created to gather and disseminate information that could be used to discredit journalists critical of Israel's actions. Three unnamed Israeli intelligence sources told +972 that the initiative was driven by public relations considerations rather than genuine security concerns. The sources said the unit regularly shared its findings with US officials through direct channels. In at least one case since the start of the war, the unit allegedly manipulated intelligence to falsely depict a journalist as a member of Hamas's military wing. The report points to a 'pattern of manipulation' in the intelligence presented about Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif, who was killed along with five other journalists after Israel accused him of being a Hamas operative. Similar allegations were made against Al Jazeera journalist Ismail al-Ghoul, who was also killed in an Israeli strike. According to the investigation, the Legitimisation Cell's work reflects a broader strategy of undermining critical media coverage of Israel's military campaign in Gaza. Shortlink for this post:
