Panthers DL Derrick Brown reveals when he plans on returning to the practice field
Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Derrick Brown is zeroing in on his return.
The sixth-year veteran spoke with reporters following the third and final session of the team's mandatory minicamp on Thursday. Brown, who has yet to participate in on-field workouts this offseason, was asked when he thinks he'll be back on the practice field.
"Hopefully, very close," he replied. "I expect to be out there in training camp. Load management, and hopefully in the next few weeks, I get cleared. So that's the goal and then at that point, it's just getting back in football shape and being able to go out there and play with the team."
Brown sustained a season-ending knee injury during Carolina's Week 1 matchup against the New Orleans Saints last September. His absence loomed large over the Panthers defense—which not only relinquished a league-leading 179.8 rushing yards per game, but also set an NFL record of 534 points allowed on the campaign.
The season prior saw Brown capture an NFL record of his own, as he amassed the most tackles by a defensive lineman (103). He was selected to his first Pro Bowl Games for his efforts.

Leon Draisaitl's Immediate Reaction to Oilers' Comeback Win Against Panthers
Leon Draisaitl's Immediate Reaction to Oilers' Comeback Win Against Panthers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Edmonton Oilers entered the first intermission of Game 4 looking more like a team on the edge of collapse than a Stanley Cup contender. Advertisement Down 3–0 to the Florida Panthers after 20 minutes, outshot 17–7 through the first period, and reeling from a lopsided Game 3 loss, a strong response was very much needed to save their season. What followed was one of the most dramatic comebacks in Stanley Cup Final history. After Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring for Edmonton in the second, Darnell Nurse and Vasily Podkolzin tied the game before Jake Walman gave them a 4–3 lead in the third. Florida, however, forced overtime with just under 20 seconds left in regulation on a Sam Reinhart goal. At 11:18 of OT, Leon Draisaitl backhanded the puck past Sergei Bobrovsky to end Game 4 and tie the series 2–2, with the finals shifting back to Edmonton for Game 5. 'That's what we do,' Draisaitl told Gene Principe in the tunnel postgame. 'We're a resilient group, and we're never going to quit, no matter what. We'll take it and go home.' Advertisement Draisaitl, who finished with two assists and the game-winner, emphasized how the team thrives under pressure. 'Once again, shows you, tells you, that our group never quits,' Draisaitl said. 'I think we believe that no matter how bad it is, if we get over that hump of adversity, we're going to keep pushing. We're going to keep coming. Eventually, it will break.' Reflecting on the Oilers' sluggish start, Draisaitl didn't mince words. "We wanted to come out strong tonight, but they put us on our heels early, and we were kind of lollygagging around a little bit,' Draisaitl said. 'It's certainly not the time to lollygag around, right, especially after getting spanked in Game 3.' Edmonton Oilers center Leon Draisaitl (29) celebrates the overtime win against the Florida Panthers in game four of the 2025 Stanley Cup Rassol-Imagn Images The turnaround may have started with a speech by veteran Oilers forward Corey Perry, who reportedly addressed the team in the locker room after the first period. Advertisement Ryan Nugent-Hopkins paraphrased it as, 'Wake up. Look where we are and the position we're in.' Now, the series returns to Canada tied 2–2, with Game 5 set for Saturday night and the Oilers once again having home-ice advantage entering the last three games of the season, assuming there is a deciding Game 7. Donna Kelce joins cast of 'The Traitors' Season 4 Show Caption Hide Caption Donna Kelce talks new movie, Taylor Swift, and special meaning behind her jersey In Hallmark's "Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story," Donna Kelce is wearing a heartfelt jersey from her son Travis, featuring a sweet message. USA TODAY Donna Kelce, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, is having a busy NFL offseason. The celebrity mom was just revealed as one of the cast members on "The Traitors" Season 4. "The Traitors" is reality competition show following a group of contestants in a Scottish castle who are secretly split into two groups: traitors and faithfuls. The faithfuls must determine who the traitors are and banish them from the game in order to win a grand cash prize. The American version of the show, which airs on Peacock, has racked up several accolades since premiering in 2023, including an Emmy Award and, as NBC touted, being named the most-watched unscripted series in the country. Here's what to expect from Donna Kelce's appearance on the show. What is 'The Traitors'? Why Donna Kelce was cast "The Traitors" features a lineup of reality stars and other public figures on its cast. The first season of the American version consisted of a combination of regular people and big name stars, but the previous two seasons have strictly included the latter. While the cast generally includes fan favorites from shows like "The Real Housewives," "Survivor" and several other reality TV programs, there have also been a few wild card picks − which helps explain how Donna Kelce may have ended up in the group. For example, last season saw a few celebrity relatives on the cast. Dylan Efron, the brother of actor Zac Efron, was one of Season 3's winners. Sam Asghari, the ex-husband of pop star Britney Spears, was also on the show. Who is Donna Kelce? Donna Kelce is the mother of Travis and Jason Kelce, who are both known for their NFL careers. While she has long been in the spotlight as a two-time NFL parent, her prominence rose in 2023 when her sons competed against each other in Super Bowl LVII, during which "Mama Kelce" wore her signature split jersey. Since then, she has appeared in ads for brands like Pillsbury and Ziploc and even made cameos in two Hallmark films last year. Kelce is an Ohio native, having earned a radio and television degree from Ohio University. She previously worked in the banking industry in Ohio, according to her alma mater.
