Iran Unveils Breakthroughs in 3D-Printed Concrete, Smart Batteries
Iranian researchers have developed advanced 3D-printed concrete with enhanced freeze resistance and innovative lithium batteries strengthened by natural compounds, marking significant progress in sustainable construction and energy storage, according to Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.
The research, conducted at Amirkabir University of Technology, addresses key challenges in both sectors.
In the construction field, scientists tackled the vulnerability of 3D-printed concrete to environmental stress, particularly freeze-thaw cycles, by introducing an air-entraining additive.
This compound
generates
micro air bubbles within the concrete structure, dramatically improving its durability and resistance to freezing conditions.
In the energy sector, the team focused on improving lithium battery performance and longevity by combating the formation of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layers, which typically degrade battery capacity over time.
Using curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, they developed a natural, stable coating that protects electrodes, boosting the battery's capacity, thermal stability, and lifespan.
These dual innovations demonstrate Iran's expanding presence in global scientific research.
The freeze-resistant concrete has the potential to accelerate rapid, resilient infrastructure development, while the turmeric-enhanced lithium batteries offer a sustainable and longer-lasting solution for modern energy needs, including portable electronics and electric vehicles.

Abou El-Enein Foundation Supports Gaza with Over 15K Tons of Humanitarian Supplies
Nada Mustafa Abou El-Enein Foundation for Social and Cultural Activities participated in the 11th humanitarian convoy launched by the National Alliance for Civil Development Work from Rafah crossing border, carrying food, relief, and medical aid to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. El-Sisi stresses Arab unity, warns against external interference - Foreign Affairs
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi underscored on Wednesday the strength of Egypt's relations with Arab states and the necessity of overcoming disagreements to preserve Arab unity, affirming that any external interference aims to destabilise Arab states. El-Sisi's remarks came during an inspection visit to the Egyptian Military Academy at the State's Strategic Command Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. According to the Egyptian presidency, El-Sisi emphasised that Arab security is an integrated whole to which Egypt is closely linked, noting that the Arab region has been experiencing exceptional circumstances since 2011, not just since October 2023. He added that ensuing events have proven the soundness of Egyptian policies based on balance, non-interference, respect for state sovereignty, and developmental efforts, El-Sisi said, warning against attempts by media outlets to sow discord among Arab peoples amid regional threats. Regarding the situation in Gaza, the president noted that Egypt has made immense efforts since 2007 to avoid escalation and stressed that the Palestinian people in the Strip would pay the price in any confrontation. El-Sisi affirmed that the current destruction in Gaza is unprecedented and that the Egyptian state continues efforts to stop the war and deliver humanitarian aid. He also highlighted Egypt's efforts to secure the release of captives and detainees, despite the distortion and misinformation campaigns that target the state's pivotal role. Furthermore, the president pointed out that the geopolitical circumstances, including the war in Gaza, have negatively impacted Suez Canal revenues, which declined by $7 billion. However, he added, the path of economic reform is ongoing and witnessing significant progress, as affirmed by international organisations. El-Sisi emphasised that when state institutions operate efficiently, with knowledge and expertise, economic achievements will be realised and development goals will be met. He also highlighted the importance of scientific progress and technological advances, including social media platforms, which he described as not inherently bad but whose impact depends on how these advances are employed. In contrast, El-Sisi indicated that if used correctly, social media platforms can be a helpful tool. Still, he maintained that as things stand, social media has been used to sow discord, spread rumours, and undermine morale among Egyptians, who he described as facing challenges with increasing awareness. Domestically, Egypt, the president continued, is stable thanks to the state's policy of transparency and credibility, which has proven effective over the past decade. Moreover, El-Sisi noted that though Egypt has faced significant security challenges for over a decade, the state has successfully overcome them and continues to make tangible progress despite the difficult regional situation. During the visit, he expressed his profound appreciation for the Academy's leadership, faculty, and students. The president also noted that the Academy is not merely an institution for building character, but also prepares men and women for facing the challenges that beset various state institutions in the modern world. In addition, El-Sisi commended the courses the Academy offers to civilian cadres, stressing the importance of its training and educational programmes in multiple disciplines. OPEN// FM: Egypt committed to protect religious Holy Sites, including St. Catherine Monastery
CAIRO, Aug 6 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs Badr Abdelatty has reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast commitment to protecting religious holy sites, including St. Catherine's Monastery. He called for preserving the sacred religious status of the monastery, ensuring its protection, and safeguarding its affiliated archaeological sites, given its spiritual value and religious importance. This came during a meeting held by the foreign minister Wednesday with his Greek counterpart, Giorgos Gerapetritis, during his current official visit to Athens aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly nations. Abdelatty highlighted the affirmation made by the Egyptian President during his recent visit to Athens on May 7th and during phone calls with the Greek premier regarding Egypt's full commitment to preserving the monastery's sacred religious status. That reflects Egypt's complete and unwavering respect for the religious and sacred character of the monastery, within the framework of the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among religions that have been firmly rooted in Egypt throughout its history. Abdelatty praised the historical ties and close relations between Egypt and Greece, which received a significant boost following the visit of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Athens on May 7, and the convening of the first session of the High-Level Cooperation Council between the two countries, during which relations were elevated to a strategic partnership. The top diplomat highlighted the focus on enhancing bilateral relations in all fields, especially in the economic, commercial, and investment sectors, by encouraging and supporting the activities of Greek companies and businesspeople to operate in the Egyptian market and invest in the many available opportunities and advantages in various sectors. He highlighted the priority Egypt gives to the rapid activation of the seasonal labor agreement signed between the two countries, as part of joint efforts to prevent illegal emigration, affirming keenness to enhance cooperation in this area. Concerning Greece's membership in the UN Security Council for the years 2025-2026, the two ministers reviewed a number of regional and international issues of common interest. The meeting addressed developments in Libya and the critical importance of holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously as soon as possible, as well as the necessity of dismantling militias and the withdrawal of all foreign forces, foreign fighters, and mercenaries, as this is the only guarantee for achieving security and stability in Libya. The two ministers also discussed the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty stressed the need to stop the flagrant Israeli violations in the Strip and the policy of systematic starvation. He briefed his Greek counterpart on the latest developments in ceasefire negotiations and the ongoing efforts by Egypt to ensure the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid. The foreign minister pointed to the ongoing arrangements to host an early recovery and reconstruction conference once a ceasefire agreement is reached. He stressed the necessity of presenting a political horizon to achieve a just and sustainable settlement of the Palestinian issue and help the Palestinian people regain their legitimate rights, topped by the right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state. The two ministers also discussed the situation in Sudan and the importance of reaching a ceasefire and ensuring aid access. Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's position in support of Sudanese state institutions and the necessity of respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Sudan. Egypt welcomes the five-year anniversary of the agreement on the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) between Egypt and Greece. He asserted that with political will, it is possible to reach fair and just solutions based on the principles of the international law of the sea that consider the interests of all parties.
