Alex Reid's friends confirm 'final straw' that made him expose Katie Price in bombshell video
Alex Reid's pals have shared the breaking point in his long-standing rift with Katie Price that caused him to 'expose' a video of her watching around a wad of cash while bankrupt. In the footage, the 47-year-old is seen lounging around on the couch, seemingly "enjoying counting" the pile of money in front of her saying: "There's loads here.. I'm just sorting it out."
The former glamour model, who was left bankrupt twice over debts totalling more than £3m, was asked by daughter Princess, who she shares with ex-husband Peter Andre, if she would help pay her school fees. Katie replies: "Your dad can sit on that' before lifting a middle finger.
Sporting white jodhpurs and sitting beside a Christmas tree, she continued: 'Does he go on about it a lot? Well it's tough because I'm in bankruptcy to next May now." In the clip, Katie also refers to a property - 'my London flat' - which fans believe is the property allocated to Peter Andre as part of their divorce settlement.
The video was unveiled this week by Price's ex and former Big Brother star Alex Reid, who warned in a statement that 'the truth will now be heard'.
The one minute and 38 second long video, believed to have been filmed in late 2020, has been sent to Price's bankruptcy trustee who continues to 'seek realisations from various third parties'.
A close friend of Alex's has told The Sun that his final straw came when Katie defended herself amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Princess' new show, The Princess Diaries, and the details of a custody battle between Katie and her ex-husband Peter Andre were revealed.
Katie's spokesperson released a statement responding to Peter's claims that Princess and Junior have been in his custody since 2018 for their safety, the Mirror reports.
At the time, Katie's team said: "Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation.
"This was in the past, and she doesn't feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she's dealing with this the right way and it's now in her lawyers hands. Kate will no longer be gaslighted and bullied as she once was."
According to Alex's close friends, it was this statement that made him leak the video of Katie counting the cash.
Speaking to The Sun, the insider said: "When Alex saw Peter's statement last Thursday night, he wasn't necessarily planning to come out with his own damning takedown just days later, but then there was a comment that Katie's rep released after Peter's post that literally tipped Alex over the edge and set these wheels in motion."
The source added that it was the words 'Katie is at peace' that sent Alex over the edge.
"Alex read that comment that 'Katie is at peace' over and over, and he was just crushed, because he most certainly is not at peace.
"It was those words that touched such a nerve for him, out of everything Katie has said, because the trauma of everything he has been through since the end of his marriage to her is still very raw.
"He hasn't healed from it, and he remains a very vulnerable person. It's affected not just him, but his entire family and loved ones. He feels like Katie just washes her hands of stuff and takes no accountability - saying she is at peace feels so dismissive, hypocritical and absolutely ridiculous."
After the video was released, Katie issued a statement, insisting that the cash in the video didn't belong to her.
A representative for the star said: "This is a video that was shared with Katie's Trustee in Bankruptcy several months ago and Katie has fully complied with the Trustee's investigations into the same.
"The cash featured did not belong to Katie and the property referred to was dealt with in the financial settlement proceedings arising out of Katie's divorce from Peter Andre.
"Katie's Trustee in Bankruptcy is aware of the property and has undoubtedly investigated whether the same ought to be comprised in the bankruptcy estate."
The mum-of-five has been bankrupt twice, first in 2019 over debts totalling £3.5m, including £970,639 to HMRC and then again last March over a second £761,994 unpaid HMRC demand for money earned while she was already bankrupt.
Creditors include Reid who is owed £175k in High Court damages and costs he was awarded after Katie allegedly revealed a sex tape of him that he says was filmed without his consent.
Along with the leaked footage, Alex shared a statement saying he was "spearheading a campaign to expose the truth".
He said: "Over the years you have seen countless stories by Katie Price directed at me, Peter, Keiran and others. Today I want to be clear. I am spearheading a campaign to expose the truth.
"This isn't about gossip but about evidence. It's not about rumour, it's about reality. After years of silence, the time has finally come to reveal all.'

Clearly exhausted, the 6ft 6in brainbox then picked up a tea light and tried to drink from it, believing it was his drink. When he realised, he exclaimed: 'Oh that's not a drink', leaving Natalie giggly awkwardly. He moaned after: 'That was so embarrassing. I'm trying my best for Natalie, but she's not getting the best out of me. Sorry love.' Shortly after he admitted defeat - saying he was too tired and needed to go to bed. Mark, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2017, did previously tell us that one date ended prematurely during filming after he had a hypoglycemia episode, but it is unclear if it was the same date. Hypoglycemia, also known as low blood sugar, is a condition where the glucose level in your blood drops too low. Speaking at the time, Mark said: "The hardest part of the process was the long filming and unfortunately for me I'm diabetic and I wear a glucose monitor and my glucose levels went off the scale and I had a full hypoglycemia episode and I might have got a little bit grumpy. Katie Price brutally mocked by BGT's Francine Lewis as she reignites rivalry with cash counting video parody and plastic surgery jibe
Katie Price was brutally mocked by impressionist Francine Lewis on Wednesday when she reignited their rivalry on social media. The comedian, who rose to fame on Britain's Got Talent in 2013, parodied a cash-counting video which was released by the TV personality's ex Alex Reid this week, and ridiculed her plastic surgery. Former cage fighter Alex, 50, shared a clip on Instagram on Monday that showed Katie, 47, who at the time had been declared bankrupt, counting a wad of notes. In response to the clip, Francine tapped up her face and shielded her eyes with a pair of oversized sunglasses while counting money. Mocking Katie, said: 'So I've just got back from Turkey. Yes! I have had another facelift, oh God, I can't believed it!' Making reference to the model's boyfriend JJ Slater, she continued: 'JJ, I think my mum was right - I did go too tight this time. Oh well! What do you think? I love it!' Francine an Katie became friends in the 90s before their relationship became rocky when the impressionist began to mimic Katie on the stage. Daily Mail has contacted Katie's representative for comment. Earlier this week, Alex leaked a video showing Katie appearing to count wads of cash, and told his followers he's 'exposing the truth' about the model, whom he was married to between 2010 and 2012. A friend of Alex's told The Sun that he decided to post the video online after repeatedly seeing four seemingly innocent words in a series of statements shared by Katie's team last week. They went onto claim that Alex's work opportunities dried up in the wake of his split from Katie, and he's grown tired of seeing her flaunt a luxurious lifestyle while he lives 'month to month'. Last week, Katie hit back at her ex Peter Andre after he shared a statement accusing her of 'baseless lies' over the past 16 years. The statement in question said: 'Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation. 'This was in the past, and she doesn't feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she's dealing with this the right way and it's now in her lawyers hands. Kate will no longer be gaslighted and bullied as she once was.' Alex's friend said he was 'crushed' when he read the repeated phrase that is ex 'Katie was at peace.' The source went onto claim that Alex has grown increasingly frustrated with Katie since their 2011 split, after she took a string of public swipes at him, and particularly his cross-dressing alter-ego Roxanne. Alex also reportedly grew irate at seeing Katie show off a £1700 YSL handbag after jetting back from Turkey following yet another facelift, as well as a Van Cleef and Arpels necklace, which retails for £14,000. It's also alleged that Katie has not paid a penny of £175,000 in damages and legal costs Alex was awarded after he sued her for showing a sex tape of him on Big Brother spin-off show Bit On The Side without his consent. Daily Mail contacted representatives for Alex Reid and Katie Price for comment. The video Alex shared, which is believed to have been filmed in 2020, shows Katie saying she is 'enjoying counting' the wads of money in front of her during a conversation with her daughter Princess Andre. There is no suggestion that Katie didn't declare the cash. In the video she brags: 'There's loads here… I'm just sorting it out.' A representative for Katie Price told Daily Mail: 'This is a video that was shared with Katie's Trustee in Bankruptcy several months ago and Katie has fully complied with the Trustee's investigations into the same. 'The cash featured did not belong to Katie and the property referred to was dealt with in the financial settlement proceedings arising out of Katie's divorce from Peter Andre. 'Katie's Trustee in Bankruptcy is aware of the property and has undoubtedly investigated whether the same ought to be comprised in the bankruptcy estate.' A source close to Peter also said: 'Peter has seen the video and is totally disgusted, even more so because his young daughter has been involved in it.' His representatives added: 'Peter will be dealing with this with his lawyers.' Alongside the video, Alex said: 'For years, I've watched as stories — many false, exaggerated, or deliberately twisted — have been pushed out into the public. Fake news isn't just a headline, it destroys lives, reputations, and families. 'This has been years in the making. Countless hours of collaboration, gathering evidence, and finding the strength to finally stand up and say: enough is enough. 'I have stayed quiet long enough. Now is the time to speak. This isn't about gossip, this isn't about drama - this is about the truth. 'The announcement I'm about to make will challenge the false narratives and shine a light where it has been needed for far too long. The time for speculation is over. The truth is about to come out.'

Dermot O'Leary and Jimmy Carr shows get update over fears they've been 'shelved'
UKTV has shared an update on two of its shows following speculation amid the Edinburgh TV Festival this week that they aren't expected to be renewed for a second series An update has been given on two game shows amid speculation that they aren't due to return. One, hosted by Dermot O'Leary, launched just months ago, whilst the other, fronted by Jimmy Carr, debuted with its first series last year. It's been suggested that Silence is Golden and Battle in the Box aren't expected to return on UKTV. It comes amid this year's Edinburgh TV Festival, which opened yesterday, with the broadcaster among those taking part. Silence is Golden launched in May. Hosted by Dermot, the six part series saw a studio audience tasked with not making any noise in a bid to split £250,000 between them. Battle in the Box, hosted by Jimmy, debuted last year. Over eight episodes, viewers saw pairs of celebrities "battle it out" in a box. Amid speculation that both shows aren't likely to be renewed, UKTV has provided an update. A spokesperson to the Mirror this evening that "no decisions" have been made on either Silence is Golden or Battle in the Box yet. The update comes after it was reported that UKTV executives spoke about both shows at the Edinburgh TV Festival this week. The broadcaster was the subject of a panel discussion at the annual festival in Scotland this morning. According to the Sun, executives teased that they are looking elsewhere for content. They said: "[They are] both fantastic shows and maybe in another universe we might be keeping both of those shows at the moment landing shows at that budget and scale that's not where our heads are at. "We are really looking to try and do something different so we can bring it back in volume. They are great producers and we have absolutely work loved working with both of them." Silence is Golden, which launched in May, saw the studio audience, who all had microphones on, given £250,000 to split between them. They were tasked with not making any noise in order to ensure the prize fund didn't reduce. Katherine Ryan, Seann Walsh and Fatiha El-Ghorri were the team captains, who, along with special guests, were pitted against the audience. They were tasked with making them react to situations in the hope of lowering the prize fund. Every sound from the audience brought the total prize money down. If the entertainers in each episode managed to get it to reach zero through various activities on stage, they would be able to give the prize money to charity. Battle in the Box, which premiered in July last year, was described as an "outlandish game show" involving pairs of celebrities who were stuck inside a box. Each pair competed again another in a series of challenges on the show. It was teased prior to its release that they would "battle it out for pride, prizes, and floorspace while living in a box". Partnerships in the first series included Jamie Laing and Nabil Abdulrashid, as well as Ellie Taylor and Jessica Knappett. A source previously told the Sun that Battle in the Box wasn't expected to return for a second series at least at the moment. The source told the outlet earlier this year: "[It] is being rested and no more series are planned for now."
