Ja Morant Reacts to Grizzlies' Trade Announcement on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Memphis Grizzlies have spent the offseason reshaping their roster after another disappointing playoff run that fell well short of expectations. The front office made waves by moving on from key guard Desmond Bane, a franchise cornerstone for years, in a move that signaled the start of a fresh direction. The team also used the draft to strengthen its backcourt depth around Ja Morant, who is set to return fully healthy next season.

Amid the changes, the Grizzlies have shown they are not done making moves as they look to clear up cap space and open opportunities for younger players. On Sunday, Memphis parted ways with yet another veteran piece, continuing what has been one of the busier offseasons in the league.

The Grizzlies announced they traded center Jay Huff to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for a future second-round pick and a future second-round pick swap. Huff, who signed with Memphis last year, gave the team solid minutes off the bench with his ability to stretch the floor and provide size inside.
Following the news, the team thanked him for his contributions with a post on X. That gesture did not go unnoticed by Ja Morant, who reposted the Grizzlies' message to his own account.

Morant's subtle nod made it clear he had respect for Huff's presence in the locker room and the role he played during a challenging season.
Huff and Morant spent last season together as teammates, with Huff earning praise for stepping in as a reliable reserve when injuries struck the frontcourt. In that span, the big man averaged 6.9 points and 2.0 rebounds, while shooting 51.5% from the field.

Angel Reese Names the Best Teammate She's Ever Had Without Hesitation

Angel Reese Names the Best Teammate She's Ever Had Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Throughout both her college and professional careers, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has had the luxury of playing with some pretty big names and talents. Advertisement Whether it was Flau'jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow at LSU or Courtney Vandersloot and Marina Mabrey with the Sky, the list of tremendous teammates goes on and on. However, following the Sky's Sunday 80-75 loss to the Minnesota Lynx, Reese was asked about the versatility of Michaela Onyenwere. A question that casually led to her calling Onyenwere the best teammate she has ever played with. "I mean, obviously, the versatility with her," Reese said. "We can switch 3-5 and that's something that's great for us. She has been resilient for us all throughout the year with her coming in the starting lineup, coming out of it and just playing a role. She's the best teammate I've probably ever had. She's always smiling, she's always cheering even when it's not going great for her." Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5).Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Reese also said that Onyenwere can put a smile on the team's face at any time with her support, as she cheers on everyone else's accomplishments as if they were her own. Advertisement The Sky got strong outings from both Reese and Onyenwere, as they combined for 27 points and 25 rebounds. While they weren't able to pull off the upset, the Sky did show some improvements offensively and continuity-wise as it seemed to take a while to adapt to the offense of new head coach Tyler Marsh. The Sky will have a chance to bounce back on Tuesday against the Washington Mystics. Bucs'' 'Grown-Up' Baker Mayfield NFL-Wide View Revealed

Bucs'' 'Grown-Up' Baker Mayfield NFL-Wide View Revealed originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The list of people jumping on the Baker Mayfield bandwagon continues to grow, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback enjoying the best two-year spell of his career. Advertisement Entering the 2025 season, Mayfield and the Buccaneers have genuine Super Bowl intentions, something we haven't seen in his career up until now. For Mayfield, he has had his skeptics all throughout his career, and even last season, en route to throwing for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns (16 interceptions), some think he is about to fall off the proverbial cliff. But NFL analyst Greg Cosell, when speaking on the Ross Tucker podcast, has given Baker his flowers. "Baker Mayfield, around the league, is highly, highly respected," Cosell said. "He is a really good thrower of the football, and I'm not sure people think about that with Baker Mayfield, but he is a really, really good thrower of the football. He's grown up. He's aggressive, so every once in a while, he'll make a play that's viewed as reckless, but he's become a very good quarterback, and I think it's important to acknowledge that." Advertisement Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) tries to avoid a tackle by Denver Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto (15).Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images Armed with potentially the best group of weapons of his career in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, Cade Otton, and running backs Bucky Irving and Rachaad White, Mayfield has pressure to get it done in 2025. We believe the Buccaneers are favorites for the NFC South (again), but the franchise is now at a stage of its development where simply winning the division isn't enough. They want playoff wins now. After losing to Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders at home in the playoffs last year, Tampa Bay will no doubt be looking at going deeper in the postseason in 2025. With a "grown-up" Mayfield leading the charge. Advertisement Related: 'He's Still Got That Hunger!' Former Second Round Pick Re-Signs With Bucks on Sunday

Former Second Round Pick Re-Signs With Bucks on Sunday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Aside from the shocking move to waive All-Star guard Damian Lillard, the offseason moves that the Milwaukee Bucks have made are decent. On Sunday, the Bucks re-signed free agent guard Ryan Rollins to a three-year contract, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Advertisement Charania reported on X that Rollins will earn $12 million over the three years of his new deal. The final year has a player option he can exercise or opt out of, his agents, Mike Silverman and Brandon Grier of Equity Sports, confirmed with the NBA insider. After becoming an unrestricted free agent, Rollins was rewarded with a new deal. Milwaukee Bucks guard Ryan Rollins signed a new three-year deal with the Lee-Imagn Images In February, the former second-round pick from 2022 signed a two-way contract to play with the Bucks during the 2024-25 season. The contract was converted to a standard one, which made him an unrestricted free agent. Last season, he averaged 6.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 56 games, 19 of which he started. When Rollins was a starter, he averaged 10.2 points and shot 48.6% from the field and 45.2% from deep. Advertisement Because of the way the 23-year-old guard played as a starter, he gained a lot of attention from Western Conference teams. Michael Scotto reported last week that the 6-foot-3 guard was a target by the Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers. "Coming off the best season of his career, 23-year-old free agent guard Ryan Rollins has drawn interest from the Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told HoopsHype," Scotto wrote. Without Lillard on the Bucks' roster, there's a chance for an increased bench role for Rollins.
